Introduction
Personal and professional development plan refers to the process which enables an
individual to effectively create an action plan which will help them to successfully achieve all
their goals and objectives regarding their academic and professional career. It is successfully
based upon awareness, values, goal setting and self-reflection (Aljawarneh, 2020). There are
a number of different goals and objectives that can be divided into short term, middle term
and long term goals. It is also helpful in assessing all the requirements of skills as per the
current market situation and competition present in the market. The report consists of and
assessment along with a PDP plan. A reflection on personal strengths and weaknesses is also
explained in the report.
Main Body
Analysis
In order to develop a personal and professional development plan it is necessary to 1st
understand strengths and weaknesses effectively. The strengths and weaknesses need to
determine the skills and qualities which can be used by an individual which will help them in
future. Below mentioned is a swot analysis which consists of strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats that have been derived from my experience in order to gain
continuous success.
Strengths: One of my major strength is that I am very creative and it will help me in
my future when I work in professional field. This creativeness is a great way to attract
customers towards your brand and also show them a new perspective. Another strength of
mine is communication skills. This communication skill will help in order to attain more
clients and also manage the work in team effectively. I am very committed towards my work
which will help me to succeed in future effectively. Time management skills that I possess
helps me to complete all my task in stipulated time period. Preparing a schedule and working
according to the time allotted is one of my greatest strength.
Weaknesses: it is often seen that in order to complete the work in time I can quickly
remove some of the task in my compulsive need. This results in removing the task from to do
list which can often hamper the quality of my work (Melzer, 2019). Due to this the results
may suffer. At the same time it is necessary to simultaneously work on more than one thing. I

lack in work multitasking. Due to this I cannot handle stress when I have more than one task
to complete. Also sometimes I get nervous while presenting the ideas in front of others. This
is often due to the fear of public speaking and it takes huge efforts for me to create
presentations.
Opportunities: Some of the major opportunities I have in future our the marketing
field and development of digital marketing tools. Digital media requires good content in order
to promote goods and services in market and due to my good communication skill and
creativity I can effectively create the content which will help in my professional field.
Threats: The competition is great threat as some of my colleagues and classmates are
good speaker. This will lead to negative impact on my resume and my profile. Also the
current economic climate is showing slow growth due to which the marketing industry does
not need many employees. This is a great threat as I would need to look out for a number of
organisation in order to get a decent job opportunity according to my skills and abilities.
Setting goals
It is very necessary to set goals that can be clearly defined. It refers to the goals which
are realistic, achievable and measurable. This means that the goals must be ones that are
according to my skills and abilities and which can be achieved easily. Measuring goals refers
to the time objective of achieving those goals and also the extent of achievement. I have
effectively divided my goals into three categories which are short-term goals, medium-term
goals and long-term goals.
Short-term goals: Short-term goals are those goals which are to be achieved in a time
between 1 to 3 months. I have successfully achieved and created all the short-term goals
according to the professional development plan. The short-term goals consisted of developing
communication skills. One of the major communication skills was required to effectively
give presentations. In order to do so I decided to improve my vocabulary and also work on
my postures and body language.
Medium-term goals: Medium-term goals refers to all those goals which take 3 to 6
months in order to achieve. Technical knowledge about marketing field is one of the goals
that I need to achieve within eight months. It is necessary for a professional who is working
in marketing field as there are a number of marketing tools developed in digital marketing
(Melzer, Melzer and Reibold, 2019). These tools are very helpful to conduct business
successfully and I decided to join online classes and take help from professionals in order to
achieve some technical knowledge about different marketing tools.

Long-term goals: Long-term goals are the goals which are consisting various short
and medium term goals. One of the major long-term goals I required to achieve was
leadership. Leadership is one of the qualities which enable an individual to successfully
influence others and get work done from them. I made a plan of three years which would help
me to develop leadership skills and successfully influence others in order to follow me. In
order to achieve leadership skills it is required to have good communication skills and
listening power as well. Decision making in different circumstances is also required to attain
good leadership skills.
Personal objective
All the above skills are necessary in order to achieve personal objectives. These
personal objectives are related to professional career development. It is necessary to make
sure that the skills which are mentioned above and the course which are required to be attend
are helping in attainment of personal objectives as well. It is often seen that personal
objectives consist of various long-term goals which can be successfully achieved by
individual. When taking my personal objectives into consideration I want to work in
marketing field as a marketing analyst. All my short-term, medium-term and long-term goals
are together devoted to words achievement of my personal objectives.
There are a number of factors that I need to achieve an upcoming time. My personal objective
along with my professional objectives is determined successfully. Increase in communication
skill and hands meant of my presentation skills will successfully help me in future in order to
make sure that I am successfully developing as a market analyst in marketing organisations.
It is necessary to make sure that I have proper technical knowledge which will help me to
lead a team and also help others in the team to work towards specific goals.
Content writing is a great strength which is required and digital media marketing
these days. It is necessary to create affective content and in order to create an effective
content it is necessary that I work upon my reading skills (Tsai, Perrotta and Gašević, 2020).
Along with the reading skills technical skills and tools are also required which will make the
content more attractive. Creativity is essential and one of the major personal adjective which
will help me in personal as well as professional life. Working in marketing field it is
necessary to be creative enough as every day Organisation come up with new ideas in this
field. It is necessary for me to make sure that I am creative enough and able to compete in
marketplace.

Leadership skill is also a personal objective for a long time period. I don’t want to
work under a manager as a subordinate for long period of time. One of my major objective in
long run is to make sure that I have a team of my own which I manage and handle. In order to
do so leadership skill is much required and there are a number of skills and abilities which I
need to develop. Listening skills, empathy, decision making skills, time management skills
and team working skills necessary for me in order to make sure that I am organising different
activities in team and leading my team towards development. In this way personal learning
and development plan will successfully help in setting a personal objectives and also
achieving all these objectives successfully after I complete my university studies.
Conclusion
With the help of the above report it can be concluded that it is necessary for an
individual to make sure that they are assessing all their qualities in order to determine their
future goals. It is necessary for an individual to understand their strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities present to them as well as threats. This self-assessment will help them to create
their future goals and develop a plan which will help them in achievement of these goals in
stipulated time period.
