INTRODUCTION
Personal development planning is a process through which action plan for personal
development of individual is created. Personal development planning involves considering
awareness, values, reflection, setting of goals and planning within educational or career context.
This report will involve personal development planning and evaluation of sources.
Task 1
Personal and Professional development
Personal and professional development is concerned with process and activities through
which individuals manage their learning and growth. Personal and professional development
help individuals in developing skills and knowledge that enables individuals in become
successful in personal in terms of academic life and in professional life (Goodall, 2017). Personal
and professional development also helps individuals in continuing their learning that is important
for ensuring individual is able to work according to changing requirements of profession.
Value of Short Term Goals
Short term goals involve goals that are to be achieved in less than 1 year. Short term
goals are important for enabling individuals to maintain their focus and attention on achievement
of goals, because they does not offer much time for achieving goals (Greco and Kraimer, 2020).
Examples of three short-term goals are-
ï‚· Developing time management skills
ï‚· Developing communication skills
ï‚· Developing problem solving skills
Value of Medium-Term Goals
Medium term goals are required to achieved in time more than 1 and less than 5 years.
Value of medium term goal is that they connect short terms goals and long term goals of
individuals. Medium term goals also offer enough time to individual and also ensures that one
does not lose their focus and this is why this time remains fixed (Callanan, Perri and Tomkowicz,
2017). Example of medium-term goals

Value of Long-Term Goals
Long term goals are those that take time of more than 5 years to achieve and long term
goals are also ultimate life goals that individuals have. Long terms goals are important as they

change their plan because they give enough time to achieve goals (Maree, 2017). Example of
long term goals include-

ï‚· Buying a car
Value of Personal Development Plan
Personal Development Plan is a action plan through which one become able to
understand what are their goals and how and in what time they will achieve their goals and
objectives. This is very important for providing clarity to individual about their personal as well
as professional goals in terms of development (Rubens and et.al., 2018). Personal development
plan also motivates individuals and when goals are accomplished they also give satisfaction to
individual of being successful in achieving their goals.

These elements collectively ensure that sources being used by individuals are justified
and reliable and these elements also ensure validity of the sources being used by individual. Use
