AI Summary
This report delves into reflective theories, specifically focusing on Gibbs' and Kolb's models, to analyze personal development and learning experiences. The report begins by outlining Gibbs' reflective cycle, detailing how the student applied it to address anger management issues, including the stages of description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and action plan. Following this, the report examines Kolb's experiential learning cycle, illustrating how the student utilized it while organizing a management event, highlighting the stages of concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation, and how this experience fostered leadership and management skills. The report includes references to support the theories discussed, offering a comprehensive understanding of reflective practice and its application in real-life scenarios. REFELECTIVE THEORIES REPORT
Personal learning and development refers to the process of analysing the facet of personality in
order to take actions to improve it.
Gibbs Theory
As per this theory explains the experience that one's gain after going through certain
circumstances. As a student I faced various problems in my life. This theory suggested complete
process in cycle.
The first phase of this is concerned with what happened. This helped me in learning about
the fact that I was facing anger issues. These were the main reason which was affecting
my mental health (Holland, 2016) .
The second phase is related to the thinking and feeling, being an ignorant I considered
them as minor issues which does not need to be discussed. It was discussed that these
were stopping me to gain happiness in life.
Short temperateness causes frustration it is the third aspect of this theory. It was
important to evaluate the reasons of my problems. One fine day I decided to solve my
issues I looked back and understood that I should be more patient while dealing with
situations. Acknowledgement and acceptance of problems being part of your life is
essential. Therefore took the decision of taking therapy to improve my condition.
Engaging myself in various activity and taking control of my emotions step by step. This
stage of this cycle helps in identifying positive areas.
The fourth stage includes analysis of situations. It made me realise that how my anger
issues were affecting others as well.
Fifth stage is associated with what has been concluded from it, thus elaborating the
results which we got. This has helped me in learning about the ways I can deal with my
problems using this technique.
At the last phase it involves actions that needs to taken if such problem occurs again.
Continuing with the exercises is my action plan. Communicating with others is also
something I would use in future to calm myself down.

KOLBS Theory
Kolbs learning theory sets out on two levels which is four different stage cycle and four
separate learning style. It is concerned with the learner's internal cognitive processes. The Kolb's
experiential learning style theory is basically represented as a learning cycle.
Concentrate Experience – I was organising a event of management in my college and
there is prepare a team by me for manage my work. I was working as team leader to
manage all works in systematic way.
Reflective Observation of the new experience – It is first time for me as a leader of
management event. During the event I was facing many challenges which can handle by
myself to manage event in effective manner. This was new experience for me and
learning many things (Lampard and Sharbanee, 2015).
Abstract Conceptualization – Through this event I can learn many things and gain new
experience which can utilise by me in future events. There are learning by me these
qualities such as coordination with team, leadership styles and management skills.
Active Experimentation – If next time I am again become part of management event so
this time I can not repeat my mistakes. I am confident about my work and use all
resources which are important for this event.
