INTRODUCTION
Personal development can be defined as the process of crafting an action plan with the aim
of improving and developing a set of expertise and competencies. Based on the self-reflection,
personal goals, values and awareness, an individual conduct an assessment of the strengths and
weakness about their academic and professional skills which will act as a basis for their personal
and professional development (Clark and Sousa, 2018). Below mentioned report cover the brief
discussion about the personal and professional development, values of short, medium and long
term goals and a development of action plan to enhance the skills as per these predefined goals.
Task 1
Define the concept of personal and professional development
Personal and professional development can be explained as the process where individual
and an organisation takes actively part in the learning process with the objective to meet the
personal goals, desires and overcome challenges. The objective of personal and professional
development is to manage the learning and growth during the entire course of career (Charlton,
2018). Personal and professional development provide an ongoing learning and development of
the knowledge, skills and expertise so as to personal update with the recent trends and challenges
and ensure effective, productive and competitiveness.
Discuss and describe the value of short term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples
Short term goals helps the individual in setting the milestone and understand the way how
the long term goals are met. Short term goals constitute an integral part of the long term planning
and create a path for achieving the ultimate objective. These goals are to be achieved within
short span of time such as within a week or a month. Achieving short term goals assist in over
panning to understand how far we have reached and how long it will take to reach a destination.

In order to achieve long term vision is personal and professional development, the vision
is broken down into a series of medium term objectives. These segregated parts act as a stepping
stone towards the long term goals. In personal and professional development, an individual plan
out the different set of skills to be achieved within a time span of a year or half.
My personal medium term goals are:
ï‚· Sharpening problem solving and critical thinking through working on job
ï‚· Look out for a job that add value to my work
ï‚· And build my knowledge in a relevant industry

A long term goals can be describe as the final destination where we want to reach through
achieving out short term and medium term goals (Toma, Villares-Varela and Czaika, 2018). These
goals provide a deep insight of what we to achieve or become in future and are crucial for the
overall career planning. Constructing a long term goals requires extensive planning and are
achievable within a time span of 3 to 5 years.
