Introduction
Term “personal and professional development” is referred to the activities, which are
basically performed to improve the quality of life, enhance the awareness on particular subjects
and potential within the individuals. In order to do so, I realised that learning plays a crucial role,
which helps an individual in focusing on different range of personal and professional skills, that
could help in personal along with the professional development. Present essay, will cover future
work skills in regards to online sources of my own and including this it is also going to cover
learning in this unit may positively affect my work in other units during the life (Reynolds,
2017). Away with this, I am also going to show my own progress focusing upon course goals
that will aid me in becoming a successful individual. Lastly, in between the essay, I am also
going to use one or two theories or the practices that will aid in conducting the overall personal
development program much more authentic, that will help me in my near future.
Future Work Skills
In present time, it can be said that online sources are rapidly affected individuals' life and
learning. Digital technology, has changed the whole scenario for the people related to their
thinking and perceptions (Want to stay relevant? These 5 future work skills will be essential,
2019). At present, a person rely on online sources rather than sourcing the books and journals for
collection of the information in physical or traditional manner. Based on the analysis that I have
done, I found that my own future work skills like searching the relevant topics on the internet,
creativity, complex problem solving and more are continuously helping me in better learning in
regards to the chosen topic. At the time of learning, I experienced that studying a particular
subject in a detailed manner is not an easy task. Me or any other individual would require to look
into a range of reliable sources, which could be anything from online websites, journals or books.
Considering the primal most future skill i.e. critical thinking and while focusing upon the online
source, I can say that this skill has developed due to different range of sources that are available
for me to search on a particular topic Chupina, Pleshakova, and Konovalova, (2016) With the
help of this, I have become able to look into a particular topic for an example “globalisation”
considering different mindsets of individuals who has given their point of views on online media
like LinkedIn, Facebook and more. This has developed my critical thinking skill focusing upon
both negative and positive impacts as well. On the other hand, if it is talked about negative

impact upon my own learning, online sources it brought ample number of sources in front of me,
which were not even related to my purpose on, the topic I was searching for. This consumed my
time, and impacted negatively upon my performance level as well. If it is talked about my career,
I can say that learning through online sources, I can easily take decisions in regards to the job or
any other stuff as well.
Current knowledge of the online environment
If it is talked about my current knowledge in regards to the online environment from
beginning of my learning period to present, I can say that it has helped me through out the years.
In initial period of my course, I used to have issues while pulling out relevant information while
searching on a particular topic. This could be understood with a good example where, I was
searching different leaderships styles, and I got confused which leaderships styles I should take
in use while developing the report. This has raised many conflicts for my own regarding the time
schedule and more (Körkkö, Kyrö-Ämmälä and Turunen, 2016). Day by day when I was taking
in use of online resources, it has helped me in pulling out much more fruitful information on
particular subjects on which I worked. Including this, in some cases, it has also hindered my
situation as well. For an example, while conducting the research, I used deductive research
approach, at the time when I was doing qualitative research, which I somehow realised that
actually it was wrong. Therefore, it can easily be said that it has hindered my productivity as well
and made my research go inaccurate. This all has helped me over the years, that now I somehow
select the best and relevant online source based on the topic I am working on. On the other hand,
if it is talked about negative impacts on my learning, than usually finding the right information
from online sources is not an easy task to perform and basically it takes more time than usual.
Just like my past, now as well I go through enormous problems with online sources. Therefore,
in order to become successful in near future, it is much needed for me to start working much
effectively on my critical thinking and on research skills, so that it do not hinder my professional
career.
Progress towards one to two of unit goals
Continuous development (progress) is something, which helps an individual to attain
various goals and objectives that are related to both studies and career at the same time. In
present context, few of my unit goals like attaining more than 70% within the semester and

improving my own complex problem solving skills. Here, I can say that both of the objectives
were required for me to be achieved when I started and going through the whole unit. Since, it is
important for an individual to build up his/her career in order to become successful. This cannot
be done without setting short and long term goals in regards to studies or career considering the
self interest. Here, it can easily be said that by me is that, in the starting of the unit it becomes
hard for an individual to set targets. Once, knowledge is gained by the individual, it starts
offering opportunities. During the unit, I have taken in use of online sources, which basically
helped me out in studying in a detailed manner about different subjects, that were coming in the
unit. Along with this, if it is talked about negative aspect, it can be said that I used different range
of theories related to needs of his own and time management. Through this, situations that were
linked with the risks can easily be reduced to minimal.
Progress towards one to two of my course goals
According to Cottrell, (2017) there are a range of goals that are required for an individual
to achieve them while doing a course within a university, school or any other educational
institute. In present context, it is being analysed that all the goals basically needed to be attained
or achieved in specified time frame as, it helps in reaching to new heights or completing the
course with good marks. If it is talked about my course goals, than I have got two major goals
that I developed when I started my course and these are: gaining the knowledge regarding the
particular subjects and develop the team building ability during a specific project as well. Since,
I belong to a nuclear family where, I hardly met people, which made me feel isolated and while
performing a group project, it is possible for me to find issues related to listening to what others
are saying based on there own perceptions. Including this, I can also say that using online
resources where I can find a range of theories regarding team building could help me in building
effective relations with my team members. On the other hand, if it is talked about, gaining the
knowledge than it will be required for me to not only rely on online resources but I also would
require to utilise offline resources as well like books, notes and other material given by the tutor.
With the help of this, I can say that, I can gain maximum benefits in near future for my own
career. It is required for me to deal with all the risks that can easily be minimised considering
both the course goals.

Conclusion
With the help of above mentioned information, it can easily be said that learning
basically plays a crucial role, if a person is looking forward to become successful business man
or a flourishing employee for a business organisation. Along with this, it can be said that setting
targets an individual could directly reach to an all new level where his/her skills can easily be
improvised. On the other hand, online resources can be both helpful and harmful, for an
individual and it impacts upon overall performance level of an individual related to both studies
as well as career. It is needed to choose right resource for a topic in order reduce all the risks that
are present regarding the content of it.
