Description and discussion of the value of short term goals
identifying at least 3 personal examples
The goals that are needed to be accomplished in the near future by the individual
are called the short term goals. The short term goals can be set to be accomplishing
today, next week, next month or next year. For example, short term goals in the
workplace can be achieving the productivity increase in the next thirty days. By
establishing and achieving the short term goals the individual is helping in achieving
the success in the long term goals. The short term goal list needs to be specific
along with being actionable to achieve the goal in a timely manner. Benefits of the
short term goals includes boost of motivation, mitigation of procrastination, provides
clear direction and promotes the success in the career (Surroca and et.al, 2020).
Personal examples of short term goals are:
Increase in productivity and performance
One of the career related goal is to increase the productivity and performance
in the workplace. The short term gaols can be set for this, the individual need to
establish the way in which the performance of goals can be measured. This can be
done by keeping track on the quantity along with the efficiency of the produced work.
By keeping measure of these metrics on the daily basis the progress is achieved in
the end of the week.
Finding balance between work and life
In the progress of the career the individual is likely to put more hours in
working to achieve the goals along with improving the performance in the work. This
leads to burnout is an unhealthy practice. Improving the work-life balance is the
essential and setting short term goals will be great option for the individual.
Achieving these short term goals is reflected in the improvement in the health, work
performance and over all wellbeing (Wood and et.al, 2020).
Obtaining a new certification
To support and advance the career in the position the individual can set short
goals like earning certification related to the position in the workplace. As with time
there are many industry trends, technology, and different ways of doing things. By
keeping one up to date ensures the best performance in the job. Constantly learning
will help in the improvements regarding the job.
Description and discussion of the value of medium term goals
identifying at least 3 personal examples
Setting up mid germ goals should be the part of individual’s goal as the
focusing on the long term goal can be demotivating sometimes as the payoff is so
far. The goals that can be achieved in the time period of three to five years are called
the mid-term goal. Everyone has this mid-term goals but keeping track of these goals
is difficult. But that’s mistake as the goals get derailed when attention is not given to
the goals. The goals to achieve from now to the retirement can be considered as the
mid-term goals, and it can be hard to identify these goals. These goals require a lot
of money and they are many times pushed over to accomplish the short term goals
which are not a good idea. Individuals need to educate and devote time to identify
the goals (Fuss, Golub and Lubowski, 2021). The examples of mid-term goals are:
Look for a suitable full-time job
Build or improve the work experience at the work place.

Expanding the skills or talents by studying or at the job.
Applying for jobs that suits by skills and talents.
Mid–term goals start when the individual has completed the graduation and started
the career by securing job. It is required to make progress in these goals that is
noticeable in every few months; this makes the tracking of the mid-term goals much
easier in comparison to tracking the long term goals. It is also necessary to align
mid-term goals with the long term goals. Every time a mid-term goal is accomplished
the individual moves one step closer in achieving the long term goals of life ( Ju and
et.al, 2020).
Description and discussion of the value of long term goals
identifying at least 3 personal examples
The accomplishment in the life of the individual that requires effort, significant
time and planning to achieve then is called the long term goal. These goals are the
result of the months and years of focus to specific things in life. The process takes
years to achieve it as it can be from graduating, looking for the suitable job and
getting the job. These goals are the dreams in the heart of the individual that seems
impossible at the beginning. The motivation, aspiration, hopes and wishes make
significant changes to achieve the goals. These goals are big, requires planning as
they are complex, accountability for a long period of time, persistence, and need
months and years to accomplish (Nasr-Allah and et.al, 2020). There are three types
of long term goals:
Career goals: changing the career, starting a business and becoming a
leader in the field. Starting a career in the forty.
Financial goals: buying a house, funding for the children’s education,
saving for the early retirement.
Personal goals: improving the focus, traveling the world, becoming a
professional guitarist.
The long term goals can be achieved by setting measurable outcomes and this
can be done by:
Breaking the long term goal into small specific steps to perform each day, week and
month for achieving the goal. The key performance indicators can help keeping the
track of the path.
To achieve the goals one should keep their minds open that will have them
the aspiration, moving in the right direction and leaving things open. This will help
them achieve more opportunities on the way. When working for the goal to achieve
the motivation is on the top but with time it decreases and the individual can feel lost,
numb, unbalanced and frightened, and that is normal as the transition takes time to
be done. This neutral zone is the place of ambiguity (Burke, Shogren and Carlson,
2020).
The individual can get over the time of demotivation by constant learning and
adjusting the knowledge base, keep the creativity, have someone who can help in
keeping the balance along with giving the perspectives, be willing to take the risks
and last but most important is to never giving up and persist.
