INTRODUCTION
Personal development refers to a long-term process which allow an individual to access various
qualities as well as skills that helps in attainment of aims and goals of life with realisation of
potential in that person (Fenwick, et. al. 2018). This project report include concept of personal as
well as professional development. It includes activities that helps to develop capabilities as well
as potential in a person which provide various opportunity of employability and also enhance life
of a person. It is important for a person to develop themselves for both personal as well as
professional. To develop these skills, a person can join any institution or can access to training.
This personal development helps in providing satisfaction to an individual and also provide them
success in their life. It also includes description of value of short-term goals, medium term goas,
long term goals. It includes value and construction of personal development plan which include
identification of goals.

Personal development: Personal development refers to a process which include various
activities that helps a person in development of capabilities as well as potential that provide them
various opportunity of employability and improve quality of their life with realisation of theist
full potential (Green, 2016). It is a long-term process as it takes place in entire life of a person. It
allows personal to assess their skills and qualities in order to attain goals of their life. Personal
development expands perspective of a person by learning and improving themselves. It makes a
person feel like stronger as they have improved their skills and also gain experience. It enhances
confidence of a person which is necessary to attainment of goals and success on life of an
individual. It provides direction to pa person in their life in which they have to put their effect to
be successful and also make them more focused about their life. This development is focused
with improvement of social as well as mental skills which improve life of a person.
Professional development: Professional development refers to certification, training as well as
education which helps a person to be successful in their life. This process includes learning
which enhance academic knowledge of an individual. This process helps to improve learning and
skills of a person in order to meet needs of improvement of an individual. Professional
development helps an individual to expands their knowledge of a person. It boosts confidence of

a person and also enhance their credibility. As through professional development, a person
improves their skills and capabilities which enhance their values and as a result it boosts their
confidence. Professional development enhances skills of a person which provide them various
employment opportunity and also increase their earning. It also provides opportunity to an
individual to interact with people and build network which is beneficial in providing future
opportunity. This development makes a person updated as per new trend in industries and
provide them various career opportunity to build their career.
Discussion of value of short-term goals and identification of personal short-term goals
Short term goals are those which are prepared for short period and can be attained in near future.
These goals can be achieved within few weeks as well as within few months. These goals help a
person in increasing productivity of a person (Hodge, 2016). It helps an individual to provide
them success as well as support for attainment of long-term goals. It boosts motivation of an
individual as these goals are easier to attain. These small successes motivate a person to attain
big goals of their life. It provides clarity to individual and also promote career success in life of
an individual. Some of example of short terms goals are as follows:
Improving communication: Communication skills are those which include transfer of
sharing information one person to another. It is important skills which is important for
both personal as well as professional development of a person. It also helps to provide
various opportunity to a person like career development, in academics, at work place. It
helps a person to share their views to other and also helps to remove misunderstanding.
Time management: Time management refers to ability of a person which helps them to
manage their life. It helps them to saves time and invest them time to more productive
work (Saleem, Eagle and Low, 2018). It helps a person to saves time over unproductive
activity. These skills are important for a person which helps them to attain their goals of
life. To learn these skills, a person needs to made schedule of their daikyu routine and

goals help to reduce gap in dream as well as desire of a person. Medium term goals are act as
efforts to attain ultimate goals of a person in their life. These goals are prepared for specific time
and can be measurable as it helps to measure progress of a person. Example of medium-term
goals are as follows:
Network building: There are various event occur in college life of a person in which
they interact with another person and also build network. This network is important as it
provide them benefit in finding career opportunity and employment opportunity. These
network helps a person to build more contacts and provide references while applying for
any job.
Enhancing academic knowledge: Another medium-term goal includes enhancing of
academic knowledge. To build career it is important for a person to enhance their
academic knowledge which can be done. To enhance academic knowledge, it is
important to take admission in a reputed organisation which are providing suitable course
individual interested in. It is also important fort them to take all important class as it helps
to enhance knowledge as well as skills of a person.
Presentation skills: Improvement of presentation skills is another long-term goal o a
person as it helps them to represent their thoughts on particular topic. This presentation is
given to a specific audience which ask question after completion of presentation. To
improve this skill, it is important for candidate to participate various activities conducted
in organisation.

Long term goals are future oriented goals which require proper planning, time and efforts of an

various important decision in their life. These goals evaluate values of individual and make their
goals more purposeful. These goals provide opportunity to a person to enhance their skills and

Finding job: Finding job is another long-term goal which helps a person to find career

Career development opportunity: Career development opportunity is one of opportunity which
provide growth to career of individual at work place. It includes promotion, salary increment to
an individual. This helps a person in fulfilling their various need and desire.
Save money for travelling world: Another long-term goal is to save more money to travel
world. To travel world, a person require finance and to get finance they need to save their
money. To save that much money, proper planning is important and one can also invest their
money which also provide interest on their saving amount.
