1SOCIOLOGY
I have always been a helpful person throughout my life. I like to help every needy person
I see around me. In my school, I also helped the poor children who did not have money to buy
books. I believe this helping philosophy is really important in the lives of the people. I want to
grow as a helper in both my personal and professional contexts. This matter of helping has
influenced me a lot indeed. As I love to socialize, I come across some experiences that help me
to understand the relevance of helping the social services. Once I went to the village of the
Aboriginal people and I found out that they suffer from malnutrition and lack of food. As a part
of my profession, I took down the notes and arranged to provide them the aid.
My personal philosophy depends on the fact that everyone is not born with all the
advantages stacked in favor of them. There are numerous people who face many difficulties
within the society. These people are deprived of all the facilities like food, education, health and
others. I believe it is my responsibility to provide them with all sorts of facilities since they too
have the rights to enjoy all the social rights and treated as equal. My father has been a driving
force in my quest to be a social worker and indulge in helping others. I have learned lots of
things from him. He is a large hearted man and she has always taught the philosophy that there is
no gain in living only for myself. Selfishness is something that should be avoided in lives. When
I grew up, I found out that it is true to some sense. It is because being selfish will do me no good
at some point of time. If I do not contribute my help for the sake of others, it will get back to me
one day when I will face difficulties in my life.
In the professional context, there are some concepts that have helped me to shape my
belief. Now I am volunteering in social work and I believe I should look for the opportunities
through which I can upgrade my skills. The understanding of the helping is the most basic thing.
In my opinion, we all should contribute our resources for the overall benefit of the mankind.

Self-awareness is one feature that has helped me a lot to understand the needs of the poor people
within the society. In my opinion, the act of helping others will definitely increase my self-
awareness from all the ways. If I am aware of my limits in my professional trajectory, I will
definitely be able to build a proper relationship with other people. This is how the self-concept
can be made stronger. I will grow up to be a positive helper once I am able to provide effective
help to all the people. So, I can implement all my values in my work and practice what I preach.
The application of the helping philosophy is indeed very crucial from all the aspects of
being a positive helper and social worker. I am liable for following all the ethical values within
the society. This will surely enable me to act with more responsibly and identify the needs of the
people in different sections of the society. As a professional, I should always come up with the
probable solutions for the problems of these people. The cultural values are significant when I
will take up the decisions to help the people. Apart from helping needy ones, I should convince
the affluent sections of the society to help the needy ones as well. Actually, it is the duty of the
entire society to make sure that all the people within the society can live properly with the equal
rights. Though a needy person is all poor, I always treat him or her with the utmost respect. I
believe I am a part of the system of social work and my activities will contribute to overall
development of the system.
In my personal view, help can be of different kinds. When a person suffers from the
power of decision making, I take into account all the strengths and weaknesses he or she has.
Therefore, I will take him for counseling. I will ask them to shortlist both the good and bad
points in the topic of the decision making. The personal values are very crucial when a person
wants to become a professional social worker. This is somewhat true for me as well. Personally,
I believe no one should die of hunger or deprived of any facility provided by the Governments.

In short, I believe that all men are equal and they all have the right to live in the similar ways.
When a man is affluent enough to avail all the enjoyments of life, he should care for the people
of the weaker sections of the society as well. There might be diversity in the society but it should
be the basis for equality and unity as well. As a professional worker, I will always take care of all
the people in the society irrespective of their race, culture, ethnic background, skin color, region
and other metrics. In my opinion these metrics are the instruments of bringing the divisions
within the society.
There are a number of reasons as to why I have chosen to become a professional social
worker. In my view, social workers are indeed the most honest and loyal servers of the society.
They provide ample solutions to all the problems of the common, distressed and deprived
sections of the society. I want to help people to attain all the basic complicated needs of the
human life. I also want to stress on the overall well being of those people. I feel the satisfaction
of my soul through this kind of work. It provides me with deep solace when I help a person to
achieve their needs.
