In this ecomap, my personal identity, just like any other individual, is greatly enhanced
by the environment. The environment provides much to support my life, including food with me
doing the work of taking care of both natural and human-made resources. The family is the first
community that identifies me. It gives early education in personal character building and social
interaction. There is a broader community where specific cultural beliefs and ways of conduct
are defined to guide a specific group. The community cooperation and joint efforts help in
personal identification.
Coming from a community level, there are several laws and policies set by regional or
national governments to guide people on how to carry out their daily operations within a specific
social environment. These regulations and policies help identify people within a given
jurisdiction. It is upon an individual to, therefore, maintain the standard that is set by all these
factors and ethically relate with others. These positive standards will assist an individual in being
able to respond positively to the daily problems that the world is facing.
Impacts on life and wellbeing
Within the surrounding of a human being, there are quite a lot of factors that affect him in
one way or the other. Many of these factors will tend to bring the best in humans by exposing
him to several challenges that will require weighing several available options to make some hard
decision. Facing life challenges gives an opportunity to an individual to build on some important
skills which can help in tackling the situations.
A community is made up of people with different abilities, problems, issues, and needs
that one has to realize and be able to learn the diversity that exists within an environment. In
social works, one has to be in a position to handle people of diverse capabilities and views. With

this, I have been made to realize some of the differences that I must expect in the workplace. To
serve well within the social work environment, I will have to know how to manage all kinds of
diversity.
Communication is one of the essential ways of interaction. To be able to have a healthy
social life, one must learn how to communicate with various people, which is also very vital at
the social workplace. I can say that the society has played a more prominent role in imparting
this important skill. I have learned how to approach and deal with different challenges within the
society, putting me in a better position as far as social wellbeing is concerned.
Environmental knowledge is as well fundamental, and I have been able to gather much of
it from society. From the cultural aspect of viewing the environment to the scientific viewpoints,
I have been in a position to understand the relationship that exists between different
environmental aspects. Back in the family context, taking care of trees and many other
environmental elements is vital, and parents will always want to bring up children who
understand the benefit of plants and other natural resources. This knowledge will help me in
decision making within the environments of social workplaces.
There are a lot of policies and guidelines that have been put in place by the government
to direct human actions regarding social matters. By learning these laws and policies, I am
capable of conducting myself in a recommended way in public places. I have also learned the
importance of many resources that are available and their benefits to the entire nation. This has,
therefore, transformed my perception regarding these resources and the need to conserve them
for today and tomorrow's generation.

Reasons for social work
In an environment where no consideration is made on the vulnerable people within the
community, there is a need to provide education and services that will help the entire public
understand diversity. Within the social work, much is expected to be done in ensuring equality
within society.
I have learned that everyone matters in the community. Social work is a “service for all”
within the community and therefore, will ensure the inclusivity of all people, even those from
difficult situations, since they also deserve to live better. I love social work since it takes a
responsibility to be there for the vulnerable in the society who think there is no one for them.
Within some communities, there are various campaigns for equality and other social matters that
really made me desire to learn and engage in social works.
There is a lot to be done other than just fixing problems facing society. Through
involvement in various activities within the community has taught me that there is a need for
interventions and preventive measures to be able to solve many future problems that are yet to
come. Together with the cultural norms, some of the skills such as a business that can help the
community rise in terms of the economy are very vital. This has influenced me to take such steps
to be in this field so as to gain knowledge that will help me bring a change within society. Many
organizations and companies today have recognized the need for social workers within their
workplaces and have created job slots for such people. I saw an opportunity within these
traditional and nontraditional organizations to be able to earn a living while addressing important
issues in the community.

Problems that are facing society are not the same. Each day there is a very different case
altogether. Unlike other disciplines, social work is involved in constantly changing decision
making. In addition to this, the presence of different people with different conditions, a social
worker is expected to make great decisions after a deep analysis of communal problems. Getting
into the social field of study, I wanted to be able to perform much of the research to be able to
provide long term solutions to the problems facing communities.
Purpose of the course
Social science is an integral course in promoting civil competence. Through this study, an
individual can identify the values and attitudes required of him/her within the community. It
enhances the understanding of ethical conduct necessary within a community and in the
workplace. This study is providing diverse perspectives of viewing society and informs the
society about social policies that hold the individual accountable. Due to the conduct of people
within the society, this course will help me serve the purpose by bringing diversity in viewpoints.
This can make the society to move towards major changes such as seeking democracy.
There is a need to make the world a better place for the current and future generation.
This can be made possible by the understanding provided by social science since it relates the
environment to humanity. But then even after getting the understanding needed, people must be
able to relate well and be considerate to partner in modeling their actions to make the world good
for all. Considering the ecosystem within the economic context is an idea that is gained from
social science.

Since social science is a course that teaches about supporting humanity with both moral
and material aids, it describes moral guidance for all human beings to live well with others. I
find this fitting my desire to change the world in terms of relationships between communities and
individuals to be good and supportive. This requires dedication to work for the community and
tackle these relationship problems.
History is said to be repeating itself. This, therefore, calls for people to learn from past
events and take precautions for the same future occurrences. This is an understanding that is
brought by social science. It takes society back into history and uses events to predict the future
and design strategies and plans of approaching these events. Sociology has proven to be essential
in day to day engagement and relates the past and the present to be able to make the future better.
