Introduction
Leadership can be defined as the ability of an individual to guide others in
order to achieve a common goal. There are different types of leadership styles
like autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire etc. A successful leader has various
skills like problem-solving, relationship-building, mentoring skills, expertise in
a particular field etc. This presentation analyses the leadership style of Jeff
Bezos, CEO of Amazon Inc. and skills possessed by him. Amazon is one of the
most successful online retail companies in the world and has a loyal customer
base.

Leadership and its types
A good leader is one who is capable of motivating this team members or
subordinates to act towards achieving organizational goals and objectives.
Leadership involves the development of the future vision and mission and
motivating the employees of the organization. There are different types of
leaderships like autocratic, democratic, strategic, transformational leadership
etc. In autocratic leadership, the leader of the team makes all the decision by
himself/herself.

Leadership style of Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos is the CEO of Amazon Inc., an American International retail company
that sells a wide range of products ranging from e-commerce, cloud computing to
digital technologies. The company is headquartered in Seattle and was founded in
the year 1994. The CEO of the company has led it to new heights over the years
due to his commitment and a strong relation with the employees. The leadership
style of Jeff Bezos is transformational leadership, which involves the leader
working with teams in order to identify the needed change and creating a vision so
as to guide the change and then executing the same.

Role of leadership in overall success of Amazon
Leadership has played an important role and a source of strength in the
overall success of Amazon. The company has built a culture wherein the
employees have control of their work as well as the market. One of the
characteristics that attract potential leaders to work for the company is that all
the departments and divisions are built by a single person. Leadership has
helped the respective company in satisfying the needs and meeting
expectations their customers.

Benefits and Importance of Leadership
There are several benefits of leadership, not only for the organization but its
employees as well. It helps in boosting the overall productivity of the
employees who further help the organization in attaining desired goals and
objectives. An effective leader communicates, guides and directs his
subordinates to perform efficiently. This further leads to an overall
improvement of the organization effectiveness. Leadership is an important
component that provides direction to the employees of a company.

Theories of Leadership
There are different theories of leadership that help in understanding the
reason behind why certain individuals become leaders. Theories of
leadership include Great Man Theory, Trait Theory, Contingency Theory,
Situational Theory etc. The Great Man Theory states that leaders are born
with the right traits and the ability to lead. The theory also suggests that a
person’s ability to lead is inherent and that leaders are born, not made.

Conclusion
From the above presentation, it can be concluded that leadership plays an
important role within an organization. There are many skills that an effective
leader should have like decision-making, problem solving, communication
skills etc. There are different types of leadership styles like autocratic,
democratic, transformational, laissez-faire etc. Also, different leadership
theories help in understanding why some people become leaders.
