career. According to Chesnut and Tran-Johnson, (2013) it is a desire to establish specific
direction which provide development of individuals. Thus, an individual can go to the right
direction and provide best and effective outcomes. Fundamental aim of this essay is to define
leadership model. Along with this, there are various traits and skills which are possessed by a
leader that will be mentioned in this essay. It is essential for people to respect everyone's culture.
Tesco is following hierarchical structure in their business. Additionally, they follow
participative leadership which help them in their development. In every company, leaders are
required in every department as their duty is to lead team. Thus, they do their work within an
appropriate time frame and along with this, achieve desired goals and targets.
Leadership theories can be divided into many parts such as participative, behavioural as
well as contingency. As per participative theory, every employee can take part in the decision
making procedure. Another name of it is Democratic. This theory is utilized by many firms as it
is the most appropriate method which helps to improve productivity of enterprise. Contribution
of staff members will improve their learning. Along with this, they do their work more
effectively and efficiently.
As per the behavioural theory, any person can be a leader because as per the same,
leadership can be learned by them. It can easily develop in an individual and give growth to their
career. With assistance of this, people can learn through observation. Hence, if I want to enhance
my leadership skills; then I can adopt it (Smith and et. al., 2012).
According to contingency theory, there is no appropriate way to design framework for the
organisation. This hypothesis will be effective in some circumstances, but not in all. Effect of
this theory can be positive but not every time. However, if there is an emergency in the firm,
then this theory is best as per the situation and thus, can be used. Hence, if I want to handle
uncertain cases then it will be the best suitable.

Leadership model is given by Hudson and concentrate in some essential key factors, such
as Vision, connection, action, impact as well as drive. Each element has its own particular aspect
(Hudson leadership model, 2017). Each and every company has to develop an effective vision

through gathering data as well as information from distinctive resources. Being the leader, I have
to manage all activities of Tesco appropriately. As a result, I can take the best judgement. I need
to share my opinions with my subordinates so that they will assist me towards attaining goals.

emotions. Provide motivation to staff member, hence they will do their work effectively and
along with this it is essential for me to give them feedback regarding their work, thus they will

rules and so on. Hence, if I do work with flexibility then I can adopt them adequately. As a
result, it will provide long term growth to business and along with this, company will find new
way to attain their targets. It is significant for me to keep an effective communication in firm.
Moreover, workers will share their thoughts as well as suggestions with me which will help me
during decision making. Along with this, I have to be responsible towards my task and have
some patience. It is necessary for me to solve issues within time to reduce unnecessary delay

Along with some characteristics, there are some skills that I possess as a leader such as I
am doing my work with honesty, which will inspire my co- workers. It is important for me to
build understanding amongst team so that they will rely on each other for work and can easily
share their ideas. Along with this, it is essential for me to motivate employees, hence, Tesco will
attain long term growth as well as success. It provide the appropriate direction, as a result
workers accomplish their work within a specific period of time. Instead of all of this, being a
leader, I have to be task oriented so that I can do my work effectively and in addition, attain
desired goals and targets within specified time span.
Values are an integral factor as it helps to provide guidance to people. Fundamental aim
of a leader is to guide their co- workers, so that they will contribute to achieve targets which are
associated with firm. It is significant to concentrate on values, hence a leader can develop
positive attitude in company (Steffens, Haslam and Reicher, 2014). First and foremost value is
respect. It is necessary for me (as a leader) to treat staff members with dignity as well as
compassion. If I treat them with respect, then they obviously obey me. Every people have their
own self esteem that they never want to lose. If manager provide them proper dignity then it will
help them in their retention at workplace. Along with this, it is essential for me to make
distinction between a people, system or firm, as a result Tesco will get positive results.

expectations of clients. Hence, it will aid enterprise to improve their profits as well as market

Being a leader, I will choose democratic leadership style in organisation. It is also known

each and every individual who is connected to business has to take part in it. Every worker will
share their ideas or thoughts, it will provide motivation to them. As a leader, I will guide
employees and make proper control over them. It is the most effective style which can be used
by any type of firm. With assistance of this, association can enhance their productivity and boost
morale of labours. Additionally, they will do their work in a creative way.
If an enterprise is utilizing leadership models in their business, then it will be profitable
for them in many ways. It assists to provide motivation to staff members so that they will do
their work an effective manner as a result it will enhance productivity. If employees are doing
their task by force, then with assistance of leader they can do their work with improved skills.
They will accomplish their work in group with confidence. It will lead to inventive thoughts as
well as creativeness. As a result, business will survive at marketplace for longer period of time.
