INTRODUCTION
Skills development is considered as procedure of developing, implementing and conducting
varied approaches that help a person to reach desires outcomes. It contributes to enhance their
performance, productivity and confidence level, which is quite essential for everyone to do so
because of multiple reasons. This process help individuals to grow rapidly and effectively. The
current assignment will explain reflection based on management and leadership skills using
appropriate model. It will also specify the personal development plan that facilitate to increase
leadership & management effectiveness. Furthermore, the report will specify transferable skills
utilizing appropriate theory and apply them to ASDA.
TASK
1- Reflecting own management and leadership skills using a range of models and develop
personal development plan that help to increase level of both concepts.
In order to obtain desire outcomes and achieve strategic goals, individual person may
focus on developing sort of skills. For purpose of reflecting my management and leadership
skills I prefer to utilize specific forms of models such as Gibbs reflective cycle and Driscoll
Model of reflection. Each model covers some strategic actions, phases and practices that help to
make an appropriate reflection based on above two chosen terms. By referring to Gibbs concept,
I want to describe my personal experience that I had been experienced just because of having
problem solving, decision-making and collaborative as leadership skills (Gibbs' Reflective Cycle,
2022). Furthermore, along with these I also had some management competencies as well, like
interpersonal, mentoring and effective planning. By having and using all these competencies,
recently I had worked well, as it make me capable to grow and amend varied challenges that
affect negatively upon my performance, effectiveness and efficiency. I also want to describe my
experience, just because of not having some essential abilities that contribute to improve my
effectiveness, performance and productivity.
Along with above experience, I also want to express my feeling in case when I become a
leader or manager, which is possible because I have some skills related to these terms, which
made me capable to act appropriately in regard to varied situations. Due to using problem
solving and other competencies of leadership term, I felt happy and productive as it enables me
to grow and allow others to succeed in their career. However, my happiness become a worst

dream ever, as I realized that in order to succeed in the job market I want some more skills that
required by the recruiter or employer as they expect, candidates must have information
communication technology (ICT) competence, which play vital role in their career growth. Not
only this one, they also expect more from those who apply for the job of manager and leader in a
company.
The next stage of Gibbs reflective model is evaluation in which I undertake recognition
of skills such as leadership and management, that improved my performance and support to
achieve essential aims. But I felt nervous just because of not having and using those skills that
improve my performance even better.
Analysis is also a major step under which a self-analysis of an individual will be made
(Adeani, Febriani and Syafryadin, 2020). When I make an analysis of I found that I have lack of
certain skill which I need to improve in order to perform effectively in respect to leader and a
manager. The skill which I lack include the ICT skill, analytical skill, decision making skill,
presentation skill and various other. In order to become an effective leader and manager it is
highly important that the required skill need to be developed by me by working towards it.
Conclusion is the last stage under which conclusion in relation with overall experience can
be made (Dhaliwal, Singh and Singh, 2018). After considering the facts and analysis it can be
right to conclude that I have various skill which shows the trait of good leader and manager but
at the same time I also need to work towards the development of certain skill which will assist
me in my future course of action and career. In addition of this I have also done a detailed
analysis of my skills which shows that the learning a continuous process and in order to become
efficient an individual need to continuously work towards the direction of development.
Personal development Plan-
Another model that I apply in order to reflect my skills such as management and
leadership is Driscoll model of reflection, which encompasses only 3 stem elements or
questions. By answering each question I had reflected myself in appropriate manner including
areas for further development that aid to facilitate improvement of my effective management and
leadership abilities.
I want to share more about my self as I have those leadership and management skills that
helped to reached expected outcomes, which is important for me to obtain. I want to grow and
each skill play essential role in my growth, that each and every person expect to use but unable

to do that because they may do not pose better knowledge in the context of competencies that I
had. I want to grow and succeed in the market, which require a lot of efforts and that is possible
when I have sort of skills and other resources that allow growing in the market where
competitive level reach high.
I want to improve more in term of developing certain skills, including ICT that help to
work with advance features about which I am not assured that I use in appropriate way or not. It
is quite essential for me to get those success factors that help to grow and enable me to take
benefit of current as well as further opportunities in the market. I feel very bad because of not
having some competencies that I want to improve to develop by using right approach and taking
right decision.
After analysing the needs for skills development and determining some competencies I
take next step and that is development of action plan as personal development approach or
strategy implementation. There are varied approaches accessible in the world, but I prefer to use
only development plan that encompasses different activities and methods that drive my attention
toward developing essential and useful areas.
TASK-2
2. Transferrable skills
In order to ensure effective management of an organization the transferrable skills play an
important role. This is because with the use of transferrable skill the organization would be
directed towards the direction of its objective and thus attain the goal. The transferrable skills
are:
Supportive communication:
It refers to the communication which involve support i.e. with the mode of supportive
communicate an adequate support would be given to the employees so that the level of stress and
tension in relation with the employees will be relived (Li and Zhang, 2021). This practice is
majorly adopted by ASDA under which the support would be given by the managers and the
employers to their employees with the mode of supportive communication. With the use of this
practice an approach and most adequate steps would been taken so that the employees feel
relaxed and get motivated towards the work. With the use of this skill the positive relationship
would be made between the employer and the person who is in problem.

This can also be supported with the Libertarian Theory under which liberty is given to the
employees so that they can make better and free choice. With the practice of this theory and
giving freedom to employees they can share the problem and thus with the supportive
communication an adequate support would be provided to them (Slutskiy, 2021). ASDA also
practice the same that truly reflect in the job satisfaction of the employees.
Motivation:
This is also an important concept and practice that will lead to assist the organization in
directing the employees towards the integration of individual goal with the team goal (Alsawaier,
2018). With the practice of this skill the employee’s performance in respect to the company
would be improved. In case of ASDA every step has been taken so that the employees of the
organization will remain motivated that further lead to raise their performance and thus the
organization performance too.
This can be justified with various theories of motivation like the Maslow need hierarchy
theory under which a categorisation of need of employees are made on the five categories and
with the satisfaction of concerned needs the employees level of motivation will be raised. As per
this theory there are majorly five aspects i.e. psychological under which the basic need of
employees is involved (Hopper, 2020). A satisfaction of these need is highly important for the
motivation of employees. After the satisfaction of this need the safety need come under which
the employees demand job safety along with safety towards the family. The next need is social
need under which social status is demanded by employees for the motivation. This is followed by
the esteem need under which a demand of respect has been raised. The last need is the self-
actualisation need under which an employee gets everything which it wants. In case of ASDA an
emphasis is given to the fulfilment of all the concerned need of employees so that the level of
motivation among the employees will be raised that will further benefit the employees as well as
the organization in the attainment of success and accomplishment of concerned goal.
Empowerment:
This refers to a concept or skill which shows that the people have power and control over
their life. With respect to empowerment an individual can make controlling over its action and
lives. With respect to enabling empowerment among employees they get motivated because an
autonomy would be given to employees that will allow to take decision (RagauskaitÄ—, 2020). In
case of ASDA an empowerment of power has to be given to employees as per their talent and

specialisation. With the persistence of requires talent and specialisation the employees will be
assigned the roles and responsibility. This is an important skill which will lead to raise the
engagement of employees in the organization along with raising their performance.
This can also be supported with the theory of Kanter which shows that it is important that
the empowerment need to be promoted in work environment that will provide the employees
with resources, information and support along with an opportunity to learn and develop (Doherty
and Hunter Revell, 2020). As per this theory an allowing of empowerment to employees will
lead to raise their participation along with raising the morale so that employees will learn and
develop. In case of ASDA an empowerment is given to employees so that they will feel
themselves as part of organization and with the assignment of required roles and responsibility
the employees will work towards the organization that will assist their success and growth along
with the growth of the organization.
Conflict Management:
It refers to the strategy under which a change in organization structure need to be made in
such manner that will lead to avoid conflict, changing of team member and creation of common
enemy with the use of rules and problem solving. In order words with the use of conflict
management the organization work towards the management of conflict that will lead to raise the
productivity and efficiency of the company (Caputo and et.al., 2018). Here the aspect of
collaborating, avoidance of conflict and compromising concept need to be focussed and adopted.
In case of ASDA the management of conflict can be made performed with the taking of suitable
action and steps that will lead to reduce the negative impact which may emerge because of
conflict. Likewise, it will also ensure positive work culture in the organization.
This can be supported with the traditional theory of conflict management which state that
people which are involved in conflict situation are trouble makers while as per modern theory
said that conflict are natural and inevitable outcome which emerge as a result of human
interaction (Zaoudi, 2020). It is to be noted that conflict have a negative impact towards the
organization and thus need to be managed and minimised. Thus, ASDA in order to manage the
conflict adopt the practice of making rules and the removal of those employees who are trouble
makers so that the positive work environment would be created in the workplace that will raise
the productivity of the organization along with the employees.
Team Effectiveness:

This is an important skill and concept that will lead to the attainment of the goal of the
company. With the aspect of team effectiveness, the organization would be able to attain the
complex goal that will lead to enable success (Greer and et.al., 2018). In the same way with
respect to team building and team spirit the organization would be able to work in an effective
manner along with raising the importance of team goal.
In case of ASDA the team working and effectiveness is highly being focussed so that
with the group effort the organization would be able to attain the goal. This concept will also
lead to raise the productivity and efficiency of the employees.
In order to make the development of team the ASDA adopt the Tuckman’s team
development model under which with the performance of the concerned steps an effective team
would be created that would work for the organization. As per Tuckman’s model the following
steps are involved:
Forming:
This is the stage under which the team formation will be made. This is the stage under
which the retention of team members is low. Here the members meet for the first time and
perform the team task.
Storming:
This is the second stage under which the existence of conflicts is high. Here the team
formation is performed. This is the stage under which the persistence of high emotion,
competition and lack of participation persist (Robb, 2022).
Norming:
This is the stage under which the aim and goal of the team is made clear among the
employees. Here the team member creates the new ways of performing the task and work. Under
this stage trust would be developed among the members.
Performing:
This is the stage under which the actual work is performed. This is highly proactive stage
under which actual work would be performed. This is the stage where the work would be
performed.
Adjourning:
This is the last stage under which the team break and adjourn. This is the stage under
which the aims and objectives will be achieved. Here the separation will be achieved.

ASDA in the workplace usually follow this model while forming the team and
accomplishing the goal of the organization. With the formation of the team the ASDA direct the
employees towards the organizational goal and thus support the team spirit.
ACTION plan
ACTION plan will enable me to further improvise my weaknesses and work on towards
strengthening my working performance benchmarks, where I have to further improvise new
technical performance benchmarks innovatively. The action plan skills and competencies will
also shed light on extended empowerments, monitoring and evaluation skills for improvised
exposure goals and strengthening my untapped professional academic skills. Action plan will
motivate me to multi task on my skills, and develop rapid improvement on my weaknesses and
areas where I further have to work on for extensive potential strength potentialities diversely.
Furthermore, I also aim to potentially put forward new end specific check point and generate
regular feedbacks from my seniors, to adhere towards extensive improvement. The action plan
will enable me to develop determined expertise, wider end targets for engaged oneness and
strengthened idealistic domains for leading my performance innovatively. Also, by adhering to
rapid working vision I aim to generate oneness and potentially shed light on extended targets.

CONCLUSION
From the above report it can concluded that with the persistence of transferrable skill the
organization would be able to attain the goal. The report also summarizes that with the adequate
implication of motivation, supportive management, empowerment, team effectiveness, conflict
management the organization would be able to meet its goal along with assisting the employees
to be a part of the organization. Likewise, while making a reflection of own leadership and
management skill it was also found that I have certain skill which would act as my strength while
I have certain weakness in terms of lacking of ICT skill, analytical skill which I need to improve
with the making of action plan and taking of suitable steps against it.
