Personal Leadership Application (PLA):
An essential ingredient for living a happy life is to discover personal mastery (Martin,
Innis & Ward, 2017). Personal mastery is a discipline of building and clarifying our personal
vision, focusing on our energies, seeing the reality and developing core values, which further
contribute to a happy life. As discussed by Bolander Laksov and Tomson (2017), personal
mastery is guided by values such as purpose beliefs, values vision and knowing oneself. In the
course of life, I have gained in-depth knowledge regarding the importance of personal leadership
application (PLA) which assisted me to create a personal vision of life and adapt healthy values
which lead life in a positive direction. In this paper, I will reflect on personal leadership
application and Personal and Professional Vision.
Previously, I was unaware of personal leadership which affected my ability to bring
growth of business and live a happy life with my family. However, after gaining in-depth
knowledge from my courses regarding, I have adopted dynamic leadership as personal leadership
strategy which made my life more purposeful and easy. Dynamic leaders thrive for knowledge
and experience in order to improve their leadership skills. Wang, Wang & Xie (2017),
suggested that a dynamic leader learns as much as possible from every conversation, experience,
meeting, and interactions. I have evaluated that I have certain skills such as focusing on positive
changes, motivating others, respecting others, questioning everything, openness, searching for
continuous improvement, decision-making skills. I have evaluated that I focus on positive
changes in my life, I tend to motivate my younger sibling for acknowledging these changes, and
I respect others. I have quailed decision-making skills which will further enhance my future
practice. I see this as an opportunity to acquire these skills in order to develop a professional and
personal vision. I also evaluated that I have good personal ethics which reflected through

opportunity to integrate these skills in my professional practice and personal life.
However, I have poor interpersonal skills, time management skills and conflict
management skills, which affected my application of leadership in personal and professional life.
For example, while communicating with my family, I tend to misinterpret what my family
members are saying when I have a conflict of opinion with them, especially with my father.
While I should have resolved the conflict with my father, I did not communicate effectively.
This challenge is persistent while I was working with my peers for a project of my course. I tend
to misinterpret what other team members are saying and, it hindered my learning and purpose of
living a healthy life. I tried to communicate with them and work as a team in order to
accomplish the project successfully but due to lack of appropriate conflict management strategy,
I failed to resolve the conflict and it affected my professional growth. Another challenge I have
encountered is difficulty in time management. Considering my personal life, I have evaluated
that I have poor time management skills while I was allocated with any task by any of the
family members. I tried to schedule my tasks according to the priority in order to accomplish my
task within time but I failed to accomplish the task. This challenge I also experienced in my
professional life while accomplishing any task within time. While working in a project, I was
given a deadline of finishing two projects within a week. While I completed one project within
one week, I failed to complete another project and it hindered my ability to enhance my practice.
I see these challenge an opportunity to a giant in-depth knowledge in order to improve my
practice. However, I have never noticed any pattern except for the lack of skills mentioned
above which were highlighted in past incidents. In order to improve my personal leadership
application, I will involve myself in the training where I can adopt the skills of effective

commitment, honesty towards my family and my professional life, which provided me an
opportunity to integrate these skills in my professional practice and personal life.

to improve my conflict management skills, I will maintain a positive attitude and acknowledge
other’s opinion. I will reform my personal beliefs and be aware of my emotion and I will
involve myself in collaborative practice with my team members in order to improve my conflict
management skills. In order to improve my time management skills, I would communicate with
supervisor and enroll myself in training where I can acquire skills of proper goal setting,
planning the tasks, delegation as well as stress management. I clarified my personal leadership
after gaining knowledge from my course reading which is Short (1998) and after gaining an in-
depth understanding of the importance of personal leadership, I evaluated that dynamic
leadership would be most suitable for me to learn from daily experience and facilitate my
personal and professional practice. The book divided into three parts such as thinking lesson,
inquiry lesson and application lesson which puts the reader in the experience of knowing that
only individual change and working together for obtaining that change (Short, 1998). This book
provides readers a road map and methods for creating individual changes. These action plans
have a potential impact on professional and personal life. After acquiring these skills, I would be
able to communicate with my family members and project partners regarding any concern by
eliminating the tendency of interpreting the opinion. I will be able to acknowledge the opinion of
others. It will improve the relationship with family members and improve collaborative practice.
Others will feel comfortable safe and empowered while communicating with me. My action
will be a motivation for my younger sibling in order to live a purposeful, happy and healthy life.

In order to focus on things essential for living, it is crucial to develop a personal and
professional vision (Brown, 2018). It assists one to maintain a healthy balance between the
position someone holds in the present life and what he or she desired to achieve (Keppens,
Consuegra & Vanderlinde, 2019). In this current context, professional vision is to establish my
identity in the field of business and being a helpful individual in professional practice. My
personal vision is to live a life full of love and happiness with my family around me.
Considering my professional vision, by applying my personal leadership and acquired
skills I want to establish an identity in the business field as a successful businessman. I have
identified my potential skills which I have discussed above through a series of past experience
which I will apply in my future practice in order to achieve my vision. This professional vision
will help me to implement my potentials in the practice so that I can motivate others who will be
associated with my profession in the future. This vision will help me to evaluate my personal
attributes for establishing my business, improve customer engagement and gain the highest
