INTRODUCTION
Personal and Professional development are important component for individual and an
organisation. These two aspects help in developing skills and knowledge in order to accomplish
all the tasks and goals in efficient manner. The main objective of professional and personal
development is to assist an individual in managing own growth and learning throughout the
career. It is necessary to keep cognition and skills up to date to ensure continuous development
(Beach, 2012). In the present assignment, chosen company is Holiday Inn which is a well-known
hotel all over the world. It is renowned for its high quality services that assists the firm in
satisfying customers. The report covers various approaches to self-managed learning that assist
in personal and professional growth of the person. Different learning styles and their benefits for
an individual and organisation are also described here. This process assists in administering right
path for achieving growth and success in career. It provides opportunities for individuals own
development.
TASK 1
1.1 Approaches to self-managed learning
Self-managed learning is defined as a broad concept of development and learning. It is an
appropriate method of gaining experience and knowledge from different ways. It assists in
individual's own growth and progress by acquiring knowledge and skills through various ways.
Every business organisation use this aspect in order to accomplish goals and objectives in desired
time period. Associate individual emphasizes on gaining knowledge that administers support for
growth and career development. There are different approaches of self-managed learning which
are evaluated as:
Social networking: In the present scenario, large number of people are using internet and
spending time on social networking sites. It is one of the ways through which knowledge can be

recruitment process is conducted by company so that the best candidate will be recruited who has

Attitude individual is based on culture and religion. Every person have their own skills
and abilities to attempt specific duty and task at workplace. Some of my skills are as follows:

technologies and make best use of them. I emphasize on learning new things that assists in
administering benefits for long term (Ebert-May and et. al., 2011).
Listening ability: It is my major strength that I have good listening skills. It assists me in
doing work effectively as per the guidance provided by leaders. Through this skill, I will be able
to attain goals and objectives.

communicating and conveying message clearly. This skill is my major strength by which I will

characteristics of employees. According to the new and modified plan, I feel that my knowledge
is maximised continuously day to day and my skills are also enhanced. My nervousness and
hesitation is reduced and it becomes easy for me to communicate my thoughts and views to any
one. By the help of meditation and yoga, my anger is reduced (Desimone, 2011).

There are many problems that takes place in the firm and is is necessary for the management to
resolve those issues in an effective and appropriate way. For making decisions and find out

It is an important issue to establish & maintain collaboration between the staff members
of the firm.
Sometimes, salary become a major issue at workplace as they are not getting salary on
time.
Miscommunication among management and staff members is also one of the problems
that takes place in an organisation.
Solution to these problems:
Top administration of the company needs to emphasize on establishing healthy and
strong relations with employees so that they stay motivated and perform well and the
chances of conflicts are reduced (Cleary and et. al., 2011).
Effective communication channels should be used by the company so that informations

influence others. Different learning styles are used at various levels and these are based on
person's own personality, behaviour, attitude and norms. Every organisation have three levels: Top level: At this level, visual, aural and auditory learning styles are used by the
management. Middle level: Logical, verbal and solitary learning style are used at this level of
management.
Operational level: At this level, physical and verbal style of learning are used.
Different learning styles are used at different level which assists in communicating
information properly. By this, data are delivered through top level to tactical and operational
