1.1 INTRODUCTION
Personal development introduce as a process of enhancing oneself via such activities like
building wealth, increasing consciousness and enhancing employability skills. It addition, it
personal development is a lifelong process. Thus it is an essential way for people to assess their
qualities and skills, consider their purpose in life and set goals or objectives in order to gain and
increase their potential (Booch, 2015). For this, an individual prepare a personal and professional
development plan which help them to overcome their weakness and increase their strengths.
Personal and professional development plan is an effective and essential process of developing a
action plan which is mainly based on values, goal-setting, reflection and planning for personal
growth within the context of education, career, self-improvement or relationship. Main purpose
of conducting this report is to analyze the importance of PDP for an individual. In this report,
prior learning, CPD program and different models are used to identifying individual's strength,
weakness, need related to motivation and so on.
Critical reflection on prior learning: In 2013, I worked in Ramkey seeds. It is an
agriculture company that mainly specialise in dealing with pesticides and seeds. I worked on the
position of operations asst manager. In this organisation, I faced some issue about the salary,
work environment so I can decide to leave such organisation. I join new organisation where I
play vital and effective role as a sales executive and in this my duty is to contract between clients
and organisation (Camara, 2016). While working with my subordinates or manager I observe
my weak and strong point which directly impact on my productivity and performance.
Personal development position statements: It is identified as a personal development
position which show my strength, weakness, threats and opportunity.

This model published by the Professor Graham Gibbs in 1988. It is more effective and
useful model for me because it help in learning from different situation. With the help of such
model, I am easily deal all situation in an effective and systematic manner. Along with this,
Gibb’s Model also support me to know what I did better and what could do more effective in
future (Gerl and Prey, 2018). This framework highly assist me to evaluate my past experience
and accomplish better results. This model has different parts which are determined as under:

Reflection: I can accomplish my dream is to complete Phd. Thus, with the help of this I

personality trait of an individual. This model is also used by me with purpose to defining my
personalty traits accurately. During the study of Masters of Business Administration at
University of West of Scotland I did 2 psychometric tests that define my openness to experience
personality trait.
Openness: This part of the personality trait measure my creativity level. In this I need to
knowledge and experience to overcome my personality trait easily.
