Introduction
Academic skills ways and important role in every student's life as it helps the students to
achieve their career objective in an effective manner. Every Institute is working in order to
develop these skills and knowledge of their students (Angkurasiri, 2018). Personal professional
development also helps the students to manage their own learning and growth throughout their
career. This report talks about the concept of personal and professional development related to
short term, medium term and long term goals and the personal development plan.
Task One
Concept of personal and professional development
Personal and professional development edit the students to manage their own learning
and growing skills (Kelly, 2019). This helps them to develop their knowledge in order to ensure
the safety legality and effectively towards their work.
Personal development means development of such skills which helps the individual to
accomplish the results with respect to their role in their life on the other hand the professional
development means developing of such skills in order to understand the entire role with respect
to their job about what they have to do, how they have to do and in what manner they can
improve it.
Short term goals and their values
Short term goals means the targets which helps the individual to achieve their ultimate
goals. It is like filling the gap between where the individual is standing at present and what he
wants to become in future (Hanelt, Busse and Kolbe, 2017). It is important as it helps in
innovating different effective strategies so that the individual can start their work in respect to
achieve their ultimate goal. At this stage the person can take quick feedbacks in order to
determine the positive and negative aspects and help them to overcome the loopholes.
For example developing writing skills, communication skills, to become a social worker.

short term and long term goals. It helps to achieve the ultimate targets in one's life. It is
important because it is like a second step in order to achieve long-term schools in an easy way
(McGuinness, Pouliakas and Redmond, 2018). It also helps in determining the current strategies
and examines whether they are useful to attend to the long term targets that need to be modified
with respect to changing time periods.
