Introduction
Own development of an individual is to be called as personal and professional development. In
the development plan an individual to achieve his/her target sets a development plan. For
understanding the procedure of personal and development we have to understand that an
individual can developed him or her with the help of self-learning activity. The approaches
related to self-learning that an individual be able to maintain or develop his/her profession skills
as well as the personal skills.
We will set the targets for the future to get well familiar with personal and professional
development and to see whether it’s actually help an individual development and also about the
various aspects with the help of which an individual can develop his/her skills whether its
personal or professional. We would also get help regarding that is there any transferable skills
which would help the individual to develop the personal and professional life at an individual
level. We would also see the problems which are faced by an individual in the development of
his or her personal as well as professional skills. It also helps in understanding about the role
which is played by the time management in the development of personal and professional skills.

P1.1 Evaluation of Approaches for self-managed learning
With the help of self-management an individual can develop his or her personal as well as
professional skills; it’s no need to get extra classes from the personal trainer for the development
of personal and professional skills. As there are lots of approaches with the help of which a

follows:
Setting future Goals:
The most common approach is the setting of future goals as it is very important for an individual
to understand what he/she have to do in the future after setting the goals for the future an
individual can do work in an efficient manner to achieve those goals and it will also help in
developing an individual’s personal as well as professional skills. Whenever a person sets a goal
motivation factor should be there to achieve that goal. Future goals has to be very clear in the
mind and also a action plan shoulf be effective on the perticular aim. (Dunlosky & Kornell,
2011)
Seminars and conferences:
For the development of personal and professional skills there are seminars and conferences are
held in which the persons can learn various things which would help them in the development of
their skills. There are lots of seminars and conferences held in the context of the development of
an individual at personal as well as professional level. Seminars and conferences help the
persons about various ways through which an individual can develop their professional as well as
the personal skills. In seminar so many types of activities are there to improve the persnality ,
way of talking, behavioural techniques and sense of humour. So many speakers are there to
motivate you, to enhace your knowledge and to make a hope in you. Seminars and conferences
are specially organised for these kind of purpose. (Bourner & Boud, 2010)
Personal Strategies:
The person would have to make some strategies regarding the development of the personal as
well as the professional skills which he/she would have to follow in the daily routine as well as
in the strict manner in which it is included starting of morning, habit of reading newspaper on
daily basis, food that have to eat in the breakfast. There must be an effective plan for the

Internet: It is the most common method used for enhancing the skills of an individual as it
provides knowledge and information on various fields and one can learn properly by browsing
about the topic for getting the understanding on the same. People could have knowledge on any
topic by surfing on internet and this knowledge can be shared among the co-workers for
spreading the knowledge among all. There also some issue with the internet, people got
distracted from their goal just because of social media like facebook, twitter and other. So It is
essential to be careful about all these things.
Social networks: Social networks are the best effective method to interact with each other in the
present business world. It helps in interacting with the people working at different geographical
locations and in different departments and the knowledge and learning can be shared with each
other. For example the facebook users can interact with each other and can share there issue and
genaral things. So many people have improved their by accessing on social networks, as they
keeps talking with others online and have learned a lot things from them.
Research: Research can be done to gain knowledge about various topics which are helpful in
bringing the effectiveness in the work of organisations and also help in developing and
individual personally and professionally. The method of researching about any subject or any
entity is so fruitful to develop the skills and knowledge. The research on any specific topic can
be done on web or by a walking process. It improves the understanding to the environment and
also increase the stability in work.

As we know that the learning is the processes which will never end means it is keep on going, it
is a continuous process so persons keep on trying to learn new things. As there are lots of things
which are new to every individual as no one is perfect so the process of learning is keep on
going. (Bjork & Boud, 2012).For learning in the context of personal as well as professional the
persons has to do certain things such as:

STRENGTH
A person must know about his or her strengths
that what are the main strength of the persons
and continue with their strengths. He should
know about the inner potential on which he can

WEAKNESS
The persons must also have the knowledge

benefit for the development. It does not matter

those barriers. Hurdles are everywhere but to

individual by learning continuously from the experiences and the events that take place during
the course of time. Continuous development can be adopted by an individual, a team or by the
organization as a whole. Continuous learning means that the situations are not same always and
with change in time and situations, an individual learns new skills and knowledge which helps in
adapting to various new situations and solving new problems in the organization. It also helps an
individual to adapt to the changed policies and procedures, to the new culture and innovation
with new technologies. This continuous learning will not only provide benefits to the learner but
also to the organization. Continuous professional development increses the adaptability as in
each situation, a person or an organisation should be there to learn and execute their work with
compeleteness.
Leadership: Effective leadership is an important part of the lifelong learning in the organization.
It helps an individual to learn that how people from different backgrounds and level can be
brought together to achieve a common objective. It also makes a person learn that how he could
influence people to make them work for the common goals of an individual and of organization.
For example in an organisation people are working on different different designations but all the
employees do work for a single company and for a single objective that company wants to
achieve.
Good relationships: The companies are nowadays not limited to local operations but to the
global operations which requires good relationships among different employees and
organisations which is also possible through good level of communication among people. This
not only maintains good relationships but also helps in performing the basic task in management
like planning, organisation, controlling and managing people and operations. For this,
communication skills should be taught to people in the organisation for long lasting development
and learning of new skills and knowledge. Maintaining a good realtionship by an organisation
internally and externally, in both ways it should be remarkable. Employees should be satisfied
by the policies of company and also the client should be satisfied after getting a better service.
Motivation: Motivation brings satisfaction among the employees from the job and they began to

Confidence:

the context of confidence if the person will try to do things by his own skills. Taking an initiative
is a big thing to develop the confidence in yourself.
Development of team work skills: Self-managed learning helps in developing the teamwork
and the skills to work in a team together so that the aims and goals of the individual and
organisation can be achieved. It develops the spirit of team work in the employees which helps

It has been observed in the organization about the skills that required for the professionalism
after that self-appraisal is being done to achieve the target; self-appraisal is being done on the
basis of some qualities on which the appraisal is being done. So I have done myself appraisal as
per the organization means the requirement which are needed in the organization and I rate
myself on the behalf of that. Professional standards implies on the skills of candidate. And to
reach the objectives of the organisation, the self managed skills should be matched with the
professional standards. (Leeman, 2013).
Leadership skills
The thing which is very important for comparing our self with the professionals is the leadership
skills; very few peoples have this quality. It is being very important in the organization to have
better leadership skills as it helps in achieving our target and also helps in growing in the
organization. Leadership quality is that which makes an individual different from others at any
place whether it is in the organization or somewhere else. A leadership skill helps in knowing
about that how much effective we are in leading the followers. Leadership quality is very
essential in the senior employee of the organisation because it also reflects his professional

Personal as well as interpersonal skills
With the help of these programs and trainings the interpersonal skills as well as the personal
skills would be developed. It helps in making effective communication skills as well as the

different activities in the organization. I am average in this skill and the techniques can be used

Decision making skills: Decision making skills improved the effectiveness for solving the
problems and proper execution of activities at the right time. I am good in these skills and there

make an impact of decision making also it impacts the professional standards, so current skills
