INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development (PDP) is defined as the plan made improving
existing skills and capabilities. Activities those are included under PDP supports in enhancing
self awareness and identity and developing talent and potential. These activities also supports in
building human capital and facilitating employability in the entity. Quality of life is also
enhanced through this and acquisition of skills and knowledge is done. It supports for career
advancement and personal development. PDP plans supports in increasing confidence in existing
skills and gaining qualities and attributes for developing career of own choice. Present report
describes about significance of personal and professional development plan in health care sect

Comparison of personal values
Personal values and principles supports in delivering better and effective services to
patients. National Health Service (NHS) is a public sector organization that renders health care
services to the people (NHS UK. 2016). Personal values help me in delivering effective services
to patients in the organization. I believe that it becomes my moral and ethical responsibility to
complete my assigned work in effective way. Some of my own principles and values that are
posses by me are as mentioned :-
I am ambitious completing my work and gaining success in my career. I follow discipline
and I am committed towards my work. I believe in giving equal opportunity to staff member for
performing their work. I am hard worker and loyal towards my work and believe in doing my
best. I give respect to my subordinates and seniors and behave with courtesy. I believe that no
discrimination should be made with any individual at the work place on the grounds of sex, race,
religion, ethnicity and financial status. I am strictly against the racial, ethnic and sexual
comments. Abuse of any individual is strictly prohibited and I am accountable for ensuring that
no individual should be harmed and abused in the organization. I believe in giving equal rights to
individuals and maintaining confidentiality of information related to the patients. Principles
define about right way to behave and I believe in treating people with respect. Some factors that
gives influence on personal values includes:-

principles and behavior of an individual. Family, ethnicity, beliefs and education affects
personal values and principles. In addition to that employment conditions, age, gender and life
events also impacts principles and values that are possessed by the individual.
Religious beliefs: - traditional and religious values possessed by an individual also influence

confidentiality and protection from abuse and harm (Zwart, Korthagen and Attema-Noordewier,
2015). 6 C that are used in health and social care for delivering care and support to individual are
as Care, Compassion, Communication, Courage, Commitment and Competence. Previous
experience that has been gained also impacts the current services and care provided to the
individuals. Beliefs and ethnicity and cultural values also affect the principles and personal
values of an individual. I believe in protecting individuals at the health care setting from abuse
and harm so that better care and support can be provided to them. In addition to that, I am
accountable for ensuring that confidentiality and rights of patients should be secured and
information related to them should be kept confidential and protected.

New developments that are happening in health care industry are supporting in rendering
better care and support to people. New modifications includes legislation, policies, priorities and
