Personal and professional development
The aim of the personal and the professional development is to help the individual to
manage with their own growing and learning through the academic and career path. It is
important for the individual to learn continuously and develop the required skills along with the
appropriate knowledge to stay up to date with the career path and work safely, legally and
effectively.
Short term goal
Short term goals are the mini steps taken for the big goals to be achieved. They help in
eliminating the procrastination. The goals that are accomplished in one year or less are short term
goals. The short term goals allow the individual to focus on one thing as they down clear path to
success. Focusing on one thing at a time helps to keep the individual productive and motivated at
the same time. This also helps the individual in achieving their long-term goals in less time.
Examples are:
Earning the new certificate for the managerial skill.
Improving the work-life balance.
Start a new personal project.
Medium term goal
It is very important to set the medium term goals as a bridge between the short and long
term goals. The goals that can be achieved in three to five years are called medium term goals.
The long term goals provides the best from both the worlds that are long enough so the
individual can make significant progress and short enough so that the individual does not change
into a whole new person by the time the goal is completed. Examples are:
Graduate from the college.
Becoming a manger of the specific organisation.
Earning the amount to buy a house.

changing it completely and building the skills according to the career that needed to be pursued.
The plan can also help in learning new things along with achieving the new heights in the desired
field. The plan provides with well though direction to the goal to ain for along with what needs
to be worked upon. The personal development plan provides an insight and gives clarity. The
plan helps to gain the confidence, self-esteem, motivation, work-life balance and knowledge.
