INTRODUCTION
Academic and personal skills help an individual to perform various tasks and get
reputable job in organisation for future growth and success in both personal and
professional life. Person need to learn new skills and capabilities throughout life in order
to become special personality and achieved greater success than others. The report is
about development plan and evaluation of sources which have covered points such as
explanation of concept of personal and professional development. It has discussed
about importance and value of short, medium and long term goals and personal
development plan.
TASK 1
Definition and concept of personal and professional development
Personal and professional development refers to enhancement of various skills,
capabilities and knowledge of individual so that it can gain growth and success in both
personal and professional life. There are various skills that need to be presented in
person such as better communication, decision making, problem solving abilities and
effective management of time to get reputable position in huge organisation (Smith and
Firman, 2019). Person need to have both soft and hard skill in order to manage task
and work with other people in profession career and personal life.
Values of short term goals
Short term goals are most essential as individual in their personal and
professional life sets goals that can be attained in limited time period say 1-2 months so
that its requirements can be fulfilled. These are basic, important goals that can be
achieved by putting some of efforts such as communication skills or ITC skills. Personal
short term goals of my is to improve my both oral and written communication skill so
that I can easily share information to other people by use of gesture, body language and
other medium (Aziz and Pangil, 2017). At the same time improve my written
communication by learning various medium, language, image that need to be used
while communicate with different technology so that other person understand it in

correct manner. I also want to enhance my knowledge about what are skills that are
required by HR manager of firm to perform its various duties.
Values of medium term goals
It can be stated that medium term goals are also set by individual so that they can
achieved their long term goals in future circumstance. Medium term goals can be
achieved within time period of 6-8 month by continuous practicing or putting efforts,
planning strategies to achieve them. Personal medium term goals of me are technical
knowledge, positive attitude, creative thinking so that I can get job as HR manager in
reputable organisation. I need to developed technical knowledge and the way recent
technologies can be used to recruit, hire and select appropriate individual within
organisation (Gamble, 2019). Positive attitude and ethical practice may helps me to face
different challenges and get select in interview by giving appropriate answer. Creative
and innovative skills are most important that need to be present so that I can find
innovative method to perform specific task and responsibilities.
Values of long term goals
Long term goals are also valuable for individual as it motivated and inspired it to
learn more and more things, skill and knowledge to get better success in personal and
professional future career. Long term goals required more time, energy and planning as
they are gained or achieved within time frame of 1-3 years approximately. My long term
goal is to have extreme knowledge and capabilities as HR manager so that I can get
one of the reputable status, recognition and numerous opportunities in future career
(Sutton, 2019). I want to developed specialised skills in leadership, management and
decision making skill so that I can continuously grow in professional career. At the same
time improve my time management skill so that maximum outcome can be gained from
specific task.
Personal development plan
Personal development plan is important because it helps in preparation of various
strategies that can be used by me to enhance my existing skills in order to become
successful HR manager in recognised firm. Therefore I have prepared my personal
