INTRODUCTION
There are some specialised skills which are needed for the personal and professional
development. The inculcation of right skill set helps in academically and professionally to
succeed and achieve the goals effectively. The up gradation of the constant skill set helps to give
the work life balance. To, identify the right mix of skills the self analysis is being taken in order
to know the strengths and weakness possessed by a person (Alden-Rivers, 2016). This helps in
building the PDP plan. The PDP plan so developed helps to overcome the weakness strategically
by building the action plan to change it into the strength. The aim of this report is to undertake
the self analysis which will help in identifying the goals, and setting the plan which will help in
realisation of the ultimate goal.
TASK 1
Concept of personal and professional development.
The Personal and Professional development so made helps to gain the work life balance.
The personal development refers to the process of assessing the skills and capabilities and
considering the personal aims and setting the goals in order to realise the goals so set. The
personal development refers to process of developing one's skills which builds the employability
and enhances the quality of life. This results in the professional development also of an
individual.
The organisations also take the employees development and growth programmes in order
to facilitate the individual growth needs thus, resulting in added organisational capacities. The
professional development activities undertaken by the business organisations helps in increasing
the morale and satisfaction of the employees (Beckingham, 2018). This results in providing the
satisfied and motivated pool of workforce to an organisation. The professional development
activities undertaken by the organisations are termed as staff development and career planning
activities. These activities results in increased branding of the organisations as there focus is to
satisfy the workforce development need which results accomplishment of organisational goals
effectively. The personal and professional development are interrelated terms which helps an
individual in living quality life by maximising their potential. While setting the goals it is being
broken down into easy achievable task which makes it accomplishment more effective (Booth
and Clenton, 2020).

Value of Short-term goals by identifying the three personal examples.
The short term goals refers to the process of setting smaller goals which helps in
achieving the ultimate goal. It refers to the process of setting the goals for shorter time period
which helps in easier measurement and accomplishment. The short term goals are set for the
achievement in shorter time period as compared to medium term goals (Carcary, Doherty and
Conway, 2019). The short term goals increases the efficiency of ultimate goals so set by dividing
it into easy achievable task. The break down of the ultimate goal into smaller task helps in easier
accomplishment of goal. The short term goal set for my personal and professional development
are as following;ď‚· To maintain the regular journal which will help me to be better organised at work.ď‚· Try to complete the activities within set time-frame which will enhance my time
management skills.ď‚· To increase my reading habit which will keep me updated with the global trends keep
going on in world.
Value of Medium-term goal with reference to three personal instances.
The Medium term goals refers to the goals whose time period are greater than short term
and less than long term goals. The medium-term goals try to bridge the gap between the short
term and long term goals so set. It makes easier accomplishment of task and helps in reaching to
ultimate goals more efficiently. The medium term goals are set in relation to the short term and
long term goals. It helps in turning the long term vision so set into reality (Fields, M., 2017). The
general time period so set for the realisation of medium term goals are generally ranging from an
year to two year. The examples of medium term goals so set are as following;ď‚· To enroll into various technical course which will help to increase my core competencies
in organisation.ď‚· To take up certain professional courses which will add on to my employability skill.ď‚· To join various internships while pursuing my university programme which will help me
to better gain the corporate experience.
Value of Long-term goals with reference to three personal illustrations.
The Long term goals refers to the objectives set with intention to achieve the ultimate
goals. The time duration of long term goals is longer than the medium term goals. They require
extensive planning while setting the goal. The accomplishment of the short term goals refers to

milestone in achieving the long term goals (Grinkevich, Kuskova and Shabanova, 2020). The
long term goals setting refers to the performance of the short term and medium term goals.
Therefore, the realisation of the short term and medium term goals impacts the long term goals
performance. The examples of the long term goals which will help me to better achieve the
personal and professional development are as follows;ď‚· To take up active participation in various competitions help by university which will help
to develop strong communication and networking skill.ď‚· To lead various projects and competitions which will help me to brush up my leadership
skill.ď‚· To waken up my entrepreneurial state, so that I can turn my business idea into reality.
Concept and Value of Personal development Plan.
The personal development Plan refers to the creation of an action plan based on the aims,
values, goals based on the personal development which is set in context with the career held a
person. The motive to build the personal development plan is to achieve and make ourself work
ready. The building of the Plan helps in identifying the strengths and weakness which ultimately
helps in realisation of the goals. The structuring of the personal development plan helps in
guiding more clearly what one wants to achieve and guides how to achieve it. It is written as a
self reflection and improvement document (Jackson, 2017). The plan so constructed entails the
details in relation to the personal, career and academic goals. The self analysis is as follows;
Strengths: The Strengths are the positive competencies which helps in grabbing the
opportunities lying. I analysed that I am good with my creativeness and innovative thinking
patterns. This helps me in better analysing the problem with new concepts. I have that team
building skill which helps me in better working in teams. I have that ability to lead other and
manage the things which scales my ability to be a good manager and leader. I can handle
positively the conflicts. The ability to make the quick decisions by analysing all the relevant facts
helps me to make the decisions accurately (Loizou and Recchia, 2018). I have the great
analytical skill which helps me to better judge and solve the problem. The concurrent ability to
draw the conclusions faster and solving it with new creative patterns helps me in better solving
the problem. I have that confidence to maintain the positive environment which helps in
increasing the motivation of peers. I even have the natural ability to de-stress environment. This

helps me to better interact with my peers and colleagues. These skills will make me a better
employee and will help the organisation also to achieve there goals.
Weakness: While setting my goals I analysed that I lacked the ability to deal with new
people. I lack the social networking and relationship building skill. I shiver and face nervousness
while interacting with the large gatherings. This makes my personality more dull leading to
lower my interaction skill. This hampers my creativity thinking. I lack the emotional stability
while I am not not able to complete my work on set deadlines. This may hamper the productivity
of others also. I lack the assertiveness when someone interrupts my thoughts. I don't like
someone's interruption. This dulls the atmosphere as I start being passive while conveying my
thoughts and ideas. This overshadows my confidence and conflict resolving ability. While
solving the conflicts I tend to be focused but interruption of other make it an matter of negative
situation as I gets frightened away when I am not able to resolve this. This weakens my confident
personality and makes the environment negative (Misquitta and Joshi, 2020).
The PDP plan is made based on the SMART objectives. The objectives so set based on
that the skills are being identified which needs to be developed, the relevance and time frame is
also specified which makes the achievement of task more easier. Setting the goals based on these
parameter makes a person accountable. It is a document which is being made in reference to the
career and capability being resembled by a person.

chart is being created. Based on that the plan is developed stating the plan to achieve those goals.
The intention is to satisfy the individual growth and development needs thus leading to
organisational effectiveness.
