INTRODUCTION
In academic and career life personal and professional development play an important role
by developing personality and knowledge of a candidate. Many institutions in this competitive
environment focus on professional and personal development in order to make student
competition oriented (Ahmed, 2018). It is important for an institution to focus on personal and
professional development to develop overall nurturing of a candidate. In this report there is a
brief explanation of professional and personal development. This project also covers a brief
overview of short, medium and long term goals with specific examples. The project also contains
value and importance of personal development plan in career and academic life. This project also
covers the ways in which different authors, purpose, reliability and relevance affect use of any
particular source.

Personal development plan
The personal development plan is related to personal life of an individual where the
opportunity to enhance skills related to social life is covered in a precise manner. Personal
development mainly increases strengthens and skills of an individual which are essential for
personality development (Allen-Johnson, 2017)). It is the major responsibility of a person to
formulate personal development plan with extensive self assessment to gain growth in life.
Professional development plan
In life of an individual the professional development is a major document which is
helpful in development of career related skills. In the era of stiff comparison between different
companies, various companies demand professional skills which are to be fulfilled with the help
of professional development plan (Allen, 2019). In order to increase confidence related to
professional life it is important for an individual to give focus on professional development plan.
Overview of short term goals with relevant examples
The short-term goals are targets which are to be achieved by an individual in a time
period of 6 months or less than 6 moths (Klobes, 2018). These goals are simplified in a specific
sense in order to provide a candidate opportunity to achieve them in a short period of time.

From the above discussion it can be concluded that personal and professional
development play a crucial role in life of an individual. This report concludes that an individual
