As an assistant manager at the Travelodge IIford, an article has been prepared for the staff
magazine at the Travel Lodge. Travel Lodge has been embarked on the procedure of motivating
staff for the engagement in self-managed learning as personal and professional development.
1.1 APPROACHES OF SELF-MANAGED LEARNING
Self-managed learning is the procedures that assist people to gain the learning for the different
aspects and it also enables the experience for the growth and development of the people and
their skills are referred as the Self-managed learning.
Self-Managed learning can be attained with the development of the skills of staff and
Travelodge. The different methods are been applied that will focus on the long term
development with help of technologies. I can also achieve the self-managed learning with the
help of observation of the current situations and to analyse the issues of life and I can also asses
the issues that I face at the time of working in a hotel (Cunningham and Bennett 2017).
Along with this following are some of the methods for self-managed learning:
Social networking: There are different kinds of social networks and sites that will include
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram etc. This all can help me in expanding my time. At the time of
using that type of social networking sites, I can also communicate with the people that will help
in self-managed learning.
Seminar and conferences: This approach will help to gain the learning for the lifelong. It also
helps to improve the skills, abilities and knowledge of the persons. The people prepare
themselves that shares personal experiences in the public. It also assists to achieve the personal
skills with the help of conferences and seminar.
Internet Network: This helps on the growth and development of self-managed learning. The
different sites of the network help to enhance the understanding and knowledge of different
concepts of management. It is the most suitable approaches for self-managed learning. There
are many sources that enhance learning and development.

be carried out with the help of evaluating lifelong learning techniques. This can be carried out
with the help of evaluating the techniques for lifelong development and learning. This will be
carried out by using the methods that will assess the qualities, risks and also the opportunities
(Diaconu and Dutu, 2017).
The lifelong learning and development can be achieved and attained with the help of Honey
and Mumford learning cycle and Kolb learning cycle. Honey and Mumford learning cycle has the

There are various improvements areas that need to be developed which are the improvement
in the communication skills and the methods of development of the communication skill
includes working on the weak areas of my communication and I will work on this by learning
diverse kind of languages that will bring confidence in me and it will help me in communicating
with the different clients that will help in understanding their languages and I can meet their
needs in a better way (McConnell et al., 2015).
The other needs that I need to consider the presentation skills and these skills will be improved
by conducting the more and more presentation and seminars in the organization. This will build
more confidence in my speech and I can also take feedback from my seniors for further
improvement and I will also work on some of the areas that will increase the presentation skill
