INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development assist the individual in developing their skills as well
as abilities that would result in performing their job effectively (Back and et.al., 2003). However, it is
also considered as one of the most powerful mode through which individual enrich their values and
culture, ability, qualities that permit them to make progression in their career. Therefore, personal and
professional development has great significance within the health and social care as patients has
different mindset and doctors or interns have different perception to handle a patient.
Presently, the report focuses on understanding that how values and principles influences the
individual contributions within the care home or hospital. However, it will also focus on monitoring,
revising and measuring the plans for personal progress so that practitioners can easily render services
within the HSC setting.
TASK 1 (LO1)
1. Compare personal values and principles in HSC
Personal values mainly focus on the individual beliefs, interests, emotions and priorities. All
the above personal values of an individual mainly affect their services that they rendered within the
HSC (Friend, and Kohn, 2010). For instance; working as care worker in the care home have certain
priorities like to attend the patients who have been diagnosed with the range of non-infectious
diseases. Therefore, this personal value of care worker is not suitable as care home mainly focuses on
respecting and treating all the patients equally so, care worker must focus on different principles so
that they may render quality services to the other service users those who have diagnosed with the
range of infectious diseases (Collins, 2009).
Although, rendering the services in the high isolation unit where service users have been
diagnosed with the infectious diseases may be provided with the proper support. Support rendered by
the care worker impact in a positive way to the patients or service users within the health and social
care organization (Gallen and Buckle, 2001). However, support assist in permitting the service users
to make effective choices and obtain sound health and social care services to improve their health and
well being. However, the principles of support in HSC also focus on the confidentiality of the patients
those who suffer from the infectious diseases. As, other service users within the high isolation unit
will not able to accept the patients that is suffering from the infectious diseases.
2. How own personal culture and experience would influence the support you would give to the
service user
Individual personal culture and experience mainly focuses on the large number of values and
beliefs that care worker may amend in the required time period (Moon, 2006). The own culture and
experience of the care worker working in care home will likely to affect the support that is being

rendered to the different service users. However, it has been stated that past experienced activities will
support the care worker in amending their performance so that they may properly support the patients
who have been diagnosed with the infectious diseases like TB, HIV etc. The individual past
experiences may be good or bad that will impact or influences their support that they provide to the
TB or HIV patients. For instance; in the past HSC organization all the patients precede the instructions
that are provided by the care worker (Cooke, 2012). But working as care worker in care home,
patients do precede the instruction that are provided by the care worker but sometime they won't take
proper medication that directly affect their health and results in illness. Sometime but at the same time
they won’t follow the proper treatment given by doctors. With this behavior of patient, doctor feels
disgusted and it leads to negative impact in the treatment of the patient. Individual culture also
influences the support that is being provided to service users who have infectious diseases. Culture
within the care home is always supportive that assist in encouraging learning as well as innovation
within the ideas that result in providing quality services to the individual (Dealtry, 2004).
3. New developments changes own personal values
There are various impacts of new developments and changes in personal values on health and social
care and they have to be understood and maintained for achieving personal as well as organizational
goals and objectives. They posses tremendous influence on patients’ attitudes, beliefs and behavior in
a health and social care setting and thus, patients’ behavior can be controlled with the help of sound
understanding of these new developments. It assists a care worker by providing him with greater
motivational levels and sound base for confidence to achieve more skills and enhance current ones in
the health and social care setting (Boaden, 2006). There can be a continuous improvement in
individual training as well as style of learning to be provided to employees and this directly impacts
their efficiency to improve and this leads to attainment of standard performance for achieving desired
outcomes.

2. Personal effectiveness in promoting and supporting the rights of individual
There are various models that can be applied in the context of supporting individual rights and
they are explained with the help of following diagram:
Figure 1: Model of community support
(Source: 8 Pillars Model of Community Support, 2015)
The model can be applied within the Day Care Center thus, the model is effective in dealing
with the different need patients (Robbins and hunsaker, 2011). Thus it may result in amending the
health and well being of the patients. However, in the Day Care Center dementia activity organizer
may be appointed so that it may easily care and provide effective treatment to the 60 years old patient
with severe dementia. They may also render support to the patient and challenging behavior on
ongoing basis by assuring the sound intervention within the Care Center. Moreover, a health and
social care setting may also provide individualized support to their patients who have recently left the
day center so that they may easily promote independence among the patients (Wilkins, 2007).
Furthermore, community connections is also considered as essential approach that is mainly applied
for the aim to provide a support to the dementia or other patients residing in the Day Care Center.
However, it may also develop effective social relationship so that they may easily obtain support from
superior or practitioners for dementia patients. Another approach focuses on the environmental
consideration those results in adapting the technology for treating the patients. Patient must be offered

enhancing their mental health and well being. With the daily treatment health care must be assured
that service user must maintain their health (Wright, 2009).
Under medical model disabled individual within the HSC is seen as the problem that needs to
be fixed or change. In the case scenario 60 years old male is not eating and is depressed. The service
user is visually impaired, suffers from dementia and has loss of motivation. Through this model the
adverse impact on health of individual can be known easily along with the physical causes. However,
under social model the barriers are considered as the problems that are created by the society.
Therefore, the barriers need to be removed (Klée, 2008).
3. Ways to resolve issues encountered in professional relationship
There are different ways that assist in resolving the issues within the Day Care Center that is being
increasing day by the day as services user suffering with dementia expresses challenging behavior.
Thus, to resolve such issues and problem there are different ways like counseling, training and
development etc (May, 2009). that will support the service provider of the health care and it will also
become easy to provide quality services to the dementia patients. Different ways to resolve the issues
that are encountered in the professional relationship include:
Training: It is being advised as one of the impressive way that assist in resolving the issues that is
encountered in the Day Care Center that is patients expresses challenging behavior. Therefore, to
manage the challenging behaviour they need to provide training to the different care worker so that
they may render proper services in the setting (Learning method, 2009).
Disciplinary procedure: Another effective way to resolve the issues within the Day Care Center
include ensuring disciplinary procedure within the HSC setting. According to the case scenario,
patients roamed out of the Day Center as the patients has wandering habits as well as he also
expresses the challenging behavior. Therefore, to overcome this issue within the Day Care team must
focus on implementing disciplinary procedure enforced by the law (Dickinson and et.al., 2010).
