Introduction
Personal and professional development is termed as the total combination of relevance and
interactions. Thus, it can be defined as the development, which takes place in order to
accomplish the target goals as well as set a specific career objective (Hildebrand, 2018). This
assignment thus sheds light on several self-management procedures that assist to improve
lifelong as well as self-managed objective. Further, posters and leaflets are demonstrated to get
extensive knowledge regarding the personal and professional development plan.

1.1- Evaluate approaches to self-manage learning
Self-managed learning is termed as the process by which an individual can learn in their own
way (Cunningham, 2017). This process is very essential as it allows the self-growth and
improvement of skills.
One of the most essential processes of self-managed learning which help in the maximum
number of people in recent times is accessing the internet and social network. The Internet
provides a huge source of gaining knowledge and a vast ocean of learning several methods and
skills. Thus, the internet plays a significant role which helps an individual to gain a vast range of
knowledge and self-managed learning (Gordon et al., 2016). Another most important source of
self-managed learning is attending seminar and conference worldwide. Throughout the world
across several countries, different conferences and seminars are conducted which provides an
enormous amount of knowledge and extensive source for self-learning. There are also several
limitations regarding self-learning which includes lack of opportunities, fund shortage and many
others which act as a barrier for self-development.
The approach, which is suitable for both me and my team working in National Trust, is internet
and social network. Gaining information from the internet and social networking sites will help
my colleagues and me to improve the business strategies and business objectives for the
betterment and welfare of the organisation.
1.2- Propose ways in which lifelong learning in personal and professional contexts could be
encouraged
Lifelong learning is the voluntary ongoing method of learning that can be gained through life
which involves learning the process through personal and professional experiences (Longworth,
2019).

with the employees (Horrigan, 2016). Secondly, financial support is very essential for gaining
any sort of learning experience. Time management is an essential factor that encourages an
individual to learn innovative things in a timely manner. Understanding and evaluating the ideas
of business and marketing, trading magazines will also help to gain an enormous amount of
knowledge. The continuous learning process and self-evaluation will also help to gain
knowledge to excel more in business.
Working in the National Trust will help me to gain continuous knowledge regarding personal
and professional development. Continuous learning technique will encourage continuous
development of the plan and new strategies to be implemented. According to me, the thinking
ability, skills and other management knowledge can be improved. Attending different seminars
and conferences will allow self-knowledge and growth. This method is a very good process
which can be conducted in National Trust, UK in order to encourage Welcome Staffs and Guides
and many others.
1.3- Evaluate the benefits of self-managed learning to the individual and organisation
There are several ranges of benefits in self-managed learning that includes increasing
communication skills, presentation skills, interpersonal skills and many others. Communication
skill is very essential in order to convey any information properly to anyone (Dowson, 2015). By
possessing good communication skill one can effectively interact with the team members as well
as the higher authorities of the organisation. Presentation skill is very valuable for the progress of
any business since presenting the proper view and perspective will help to enhance the efficiency
of marketing. As a Membership and Visitor Welcome Manager of National Trust, the
communication skills should be very efficient which will enrich the interaction skills of the
employees that will allow the business to run well. This will also help National Trust to expand
more and run the business more efficiently and profitably.

3.1 Discuss the processes and activities required to implement the development plan
The primary reason for creating a developmental plan is to improve the set of skills. Being the
Membership and Visitor Welcome Manager of National Trust to improve the overall efficiency
of the business several plans are needed to be prepared. The first stage is setting a specific target
which will give the idea of understanding the required goal to achieve. I have to make sure that a
target is set which needs to be fulfilled by my team members. The second step is planning and
organising how those goals are to be fulfilled. Being a part of National Trust I have to ensure that
all the duties are performed in an organised way consuming less time. I have to prioritise the
necessary objectives and ask my team members to perform necessarily. The third stage is very
essential that allows in implementing several strategies and preparing the action plans which are
going to be conducted. It is one of the most essential steps where I have to improve both the
presentation skills as well as the numeric. The final stage is the assessment of all the activities
that include consulting with my senior manager if the goal is achieved or not.
