A person requires diverse skills and knowledge to remain efficient at the workplace as
well as it assist in making significant contribution towards one’s own career development plans.
Similarly, the present report deals with analysing owns capabilities and skills that can be used in
the most prominent manner which can further aid in achieving the desired results or position in
the organizational setting. Herein, numerous theories and approaches has been used so as to
provide the readers with an understanding of the ways in which personal and career development
plans can be undertaken. Therefore, STAR technique has been successfully applied, SWOT
analysis has been undertaken to ascertain own weaknesses and strengths along with an action
plan which provides the readers with an overview of the activities that has been undertaken so as
fulfil the gap between the expected and existing capabilities. Apart from this, a clear description
of the recruitment and selection process of graduate students has been explained.
1. Employer's expectations of graduate skills
There are certain skills and factors that aid the individual to gain employment at the
concerned organization. However, there are varied others skills, attributes and which the
employers hunt in new candidates that can result in utmost benefit for the organization. Being a
Business Associate at a Call centre in UK, I have analysed that I did not possess enough of
knowledge and experience for the respective designation. But the employer has provided me
with an opportunity to use my strengths against my weaknesses and be able to develop my
personal and professional skills at the organizational setting (Cehic, 2014). In this regards, my
communication and writing skills were assessed at the time of interview and based on this, a
position of business associate was offered to me.
Nonetheless, employer’s expectations from the respective candidate are quite high. This
can be analysed from the concept of significance of the employability skills. Possessing bookish
knowledge is not sufficient to get a proper job at the organization. However, there are certain
other factors that may cause respective individual to gain a designation. Employers or managers
hunt for talent rather than simply focusing on the degrees and educational experience. Therefore,
some of the major expectations of these people from the undergraduate students include the
following:

the manner in which I should behave at the organizational setting, I am planning to emphasize to
gain relative skills and attributes that are required by me to become a successful manager. Apart

skills as well so as to perform with the efficiency at the organizational setting (Spence and
Hyams-Ssekasi, 2015). These comprises of the two main areas which includes achievements and
business awareness. Herein, my managers expect that I must have the potentiality to success in
future along with organizational sensitivity. In addition to the above, the employers also expect
that I must have a sense of understand ability of things related to financial aspects as well as
things related to customer satisfaction.

interview session and I have told them clearly about my passion towards the cricket. Through
this, they have identified or examined about my potentialities in managing teams and motivating
others. Henceforth, this is the last process of the recruitment process thereafter through perfect
scrutinising the manager’s select the most appropriate and capable employees that will further
help in managing the operations of the company significantly.

team building. Therefore, I must be able to use my skills to lead and motivate people. However,
there are varied kinds of personality present in a team which has diversity in opinions, thinking
habit and life style. Therefore, patience is required by the candidate to stay calm in the
conflicting situation. Therefore, the managers have asked certain questions so as to assess my
anger and anxiety level. Although, I have managed to remain calm and compose at the respective
time. All these activities have helped me to gain knowledge about diverse employability skills
that are needed by a candidate to work in any organization.

In order to assess my competencies and potentialities at the time of interview at the

which the candidate is communicating, aims to gain knowledge about diverse skills and
capabilities that it possesses. Out of which leadership, problem solving, motivation skills are the
most prominent features required by the person. In addition to the above, question regarding its
hobbies and passion is asked by the managers. Similar questions have been asked by me in the
interview session and I have told them clearly about my passion towards the cricket. Through
this, they have identified or examined about my potentialities in managing teams and motivating
others. Henceforth, this is the last process of the recruitment process thereafter through perfect
scrutinising the manager’s select the most appropriate and capable employees that will further
help in managing the operations of the company significantly.
From the above description of the recruitment and selection process, I have analysed that
possessing knowledge regarding varied aspects is imperative in nature. The managers judge the
candidate on the varied aspects. Out of which they specifically hunt for the employability skills
in people. These include communication skills in which the candidate or the appointed person
needs to make contact with the clients and convince them about varied points (Benson, Morgan
and Filippaios, 2014). Apart from this, call centre in which I am presently working is based on
team building. Therefore, I must be able to use my skills to lead and motivate people. However,
there are varied kinds of personality present in a team which has diversity in opinions, thinking
habit and life style. Therefore, patience is required by the candidate to stay calm in the
conflicting situation. Therefore, the managers have asked certain questions so as to assess my
anger and anxiety level. Although, I have managed to remain calm and compose at the respective
time. All these activities have helped me to gain knowledge about diverse employability skills
that are needed by a candidate to work in any organization.
4. Development and competency needed to develop employability skills
In order to assess my competencies and potentialities at the time of interview at the
present organization, the managers has used a technique to determine employability skills that
are present under a candidate (Frid and et.al., 2015). The following approach aids me in

understanding and gaining insight on varied aspects of recruitment and selection process.
Furthermore, herein I need to demonstrate any situation that has taken place in past, the manner
in which I have analysed and taken action. Last but not the least, relative knowledge or
understanding gained on the respective situation. The same has been enumerated underneath
with the types of situation faced by me in different phase of life:

The outcome of the

was that the client got
embarrassed and made
me understand the
urgency of service. I

work will be done in
