Introduction
Academic Skills include all the skills that are required to be academically proficient. It
includes core skills like presentation skills, writing skills and also includes referencing. It is
important to have good academic skills in an individual as it helps the person to make a good
and bright career. To be successful it is important to gain skills and knowledge and work on
them to polish them further. It is important and good to make a personal and professional
development plan by an individual as it helps to known the skills that the person has and what
is the aim of the person. PDP helps to set targets and it is better to set SMART objectives and
try their best to achieve them as it makes the individual successful and gain whatever the
individual wants to achieve.
The following discussion is based on the academic skills. It is a set of skills which
includes the collection of study habits, strategies of learning process and the time
management tools. Not only students but teachers also included in academic skills because of
giving lectures with a huge knowledge and skills that are related with the certain concepts.
The academic skills are not only benefit the students but also helps in the future as well. The
discussion includes the definition of the personal and professional development, values of the
short term, long term and the medium goals and the value of personal development goals. At
last, the discussion also includes the Effect of ‘Author, Purpose, Reliability and Relevance’
with the help of eight sources (Andayani, Zulkarnain and Hadisaputra, 2020).

The concept of professional and the personal development
The professional and personal development can be defined on the basis of binding
force by the virtue of which every individual human being and the organisation involved in
the learning procedure. The fulfillment of professional and personal goals helps in terms of
growth opportunities and objectives at a time of pre-defined time period.
A short term goals with 3 personal examples
A short term goal is a term which is defined as short courses which are made only for 1 to 1.5
years (Maykrantz and Houghton, 2020). It is simply defines as the bridge that lessens the gap
towards the long term goals.
Examples:-
 1 hour dance class daily from the 24 hours per day.

 Essay of 1 page on a good topic. For example, healthy living lifestyle, workforce
management and many others.
 A good certificate course of 1 to 1.5 years.
Value of medium term goals with 3 personal examples
Medium term goals are the type of goals which define as the tends to serving the
purpose of long term goal as well as short term goal. In the time span of 1 to 3 years, the
medium term goals are accomplished (Syakur and et. al., 2020).
Examples:-
 A graduation degree from a good recognized college.
 Diploma courses and the certificate courses of three years.
 A house purchased to be temporarily and permanently.
Value of long term goals with 3 personal examples
Long terms goals are such type of goals which are useful in defining the achievements
that had been assumed or bound for a longer period of time. The long term goals are made for
3 to 15 years.
Examples:-
 Running a business by own.
 Schooling for almost 12 years.
 To be awarded for your skill.
Value of Personal Development Plan with example
A written documentation which contain some good measures and actions are included
in the personal development plan and they are taken on the basis of actions and measures,
taken by an individual on the basis of existing skills and competences of a person. In
accordance with it, it can be said that the personal plan of development given an individual to
increase their personality and enhancing skills and become compatible for carrying tasks.
