Introduction
Academic Skills include all the skills that are required to be academically proficient. It
includes core skills like presentation skills, writing skills and also includes referencing. It is
important to have good academic skills in an individual as it helps the person to make a good
and bright career. To be successful it is important to gain skills and knowledge and work on
them to polish them further. It is important and good to make a personal and professional
development plan by an individual as it helps to known the skills that the person has and what
is the aim of the person. PDP helps to set targets and it is better to set SMART objectives and
try their best to achieve them as it makes the individual successful and gain whatever the
individual wants to achieve.
The following discussion is based on the academic skills. It is a set of skills which
includes the collection of study habits, strategies of learning process and the time
management tools. Not only students but teachers also included in academic skills because of
giving lectures with a huge knowledge and skills that are related with the certain concepts.
The academic skills are not only benefit the students but also helps in the future as well. The
discussion includes the definition of the personal and professional development, values of the
short term, long term and the medium goals and the value of personal development goals. At
last, the discussion also includes the Effect of ‘Author, Purpose, Reliability and Relevance’
