PPD 1.2 Assess how personal culture and experience influence your role in supporting
clients and colleagues in your workplace.
PERSONAL CULTURE
Culture is a social behavior which founds in human beings; it is related to the nation, society and
the family. Everyone has their own different culture. With the example of two countries it is
possible to understand the difference between different culture easily – like in India ladies wear
sari and suits at their home and at their office too but in other countries, ladies wear the jeans and
skirts so it defines the various culture of the people.
There are some factors which influence personal culture and experience in our role- Family,
Society, Education, Belief, Life events, Age, and gender, etc. Values and belief provide equal
rights to each and every person of the organization so that they provide better services to their
clients and they do not have any kind of competition among them. If employees get the equal
rights then they protect their clients from any kind of abuse and harm and if they had experience
then they provide better services to their clients. Personal culture and experience both helps to
maintain the proper system so that the service user gets the fair and effective treatment (Tetley,
et. al., 2015).

Values are the things which describe what is important for us in our way of living. There are
some values which impact our work environment of health and social care –
If a person has a value of trust and they trust everyone then it is good for health and
social care business because here customer relies on the company that they provide best
people for their loved ones as their caretaker (Griffiths, et. al., 2012).
Values have a negative impact on both the workplace and in personal life as they also
create some conflict with work (Scotland, 2016).
Sometimes values create stress in your work as you work according to your values given
by the family but they actually do not applicable at your workplace. Hence, it creates
some problem for you and the result is stress.
If you have different personal values and professional values then it may create discord
between your personal and professional life.
Sometimes it also occurs conflict between workers.
Values also influence leadership style and behavior (Scotland, 2016). As a leader people
consider their own values and by them, they influence the working environment of the
organization.
