Introduction
The report specifies importance of personal development plan for an individual to
develop their academy can professional career. There are a number of skills which are to be
achieved by an individual who can be divided into three categories namely short-term, medium-
term and long-term skills (Mashizume and et. al., 2020). The report also specifies effect of
various content such as author, purpose, reliability and relevance on the use of sources.
Task 1
Personal and professional development refers to a process where individuals and
organisations are engaging in learning process and meeting the challenges in order to reach their
goals. It refers to development of various needs of groups and individuals. Personal and
professional development requires analyses of current skills and preparation of a development
plan which will support in learning process. (Hata and et. al., 2019).
Short-term goals are the goals for individuals professional and personal life which are set for a
short period of time such as a month or two. These include basic skills and qualities that can be
doubled by individuals quickly. It include written as well as verbal skills (Dunn and Doolittle,
2020). Other short-term goal can be development of presentation skills. Third short-term goal
can be development of reading skills. Reading skills can be quickly developed by individual
through continuously using various articles and materials for reading.
Medium-term goals include those skills which require a period of 6 to 8 months to achieve. It is
required by individuals to make sure that they are putting in continuous efforts to achieve their
medium-term goals. Development of technical knowledge regarding any professional field is
important medium-term goal which requires a time of eight months to achieve (Weinberg, 2019).
Professional help can be taken to achieve this goal. Listening skill is another medium-term goal
which requires a time of around six months (Casenave and Klarmann, 2020).
Long-term goals are those goals which require at least a year to achieve. They can also take
more than a year for completion of long-term goals. It depends on individuals who can also make
a goal for more than three years. It is necessary that continuous development and long-term goals

is shown as it requires a lot of motivation(Ramos, De Fraine and Verschueren, 2020). Leadership
is one of the qualities which can be developed in long term. It is necessary for individuals to
develop various other qualities such as motivational skills and communication skills to
successfully become a leader. Another long-term skill can be development of decision-making
power. An individual is required to first develop analytical skills in order to develop their
decision making power. Time management is another long-term skill can be developed by
individuals over a period of time.
Task2
Below mentioned are the ways in which relevance, authority, accuracy and purpose are
affecting the use of source:
Relevance: It is necessary to understand that how does the topic is related to information which
is given in source. It is necessary that references by writers are focusing on audience. There is a
large number of information present regarding the topic but relevancy of those information to the
audience is what a writer has to look for (Sackett and Fan, 2020).
Author: It is necessary for students and teacher to look for the author of information before they
can trust it. The education level and affiliation of author is important so that reader can
understand whether or not the author is qualified enough to write the topic.
Reliability: Reliability emphasizes on trustworthiness of sources. It is necessary the sources and
the content which is used are original and reliable enough. The evidence must successfully
support information which is present to the audience.
Purpose: The purpose of the sources are helping readers to understand whether the information
for which they are looking for is right for their writing on out. Also it is necessary that the
intention of author must be clear. There are a number of aspects which are to be taken into
consideration when information is provided such as propaganda, opinion and facts (Hadavi, A.
and Krizek, R.J., 2019).
