INTRODUCTION
Personal development is referred as long procedure that consist different activities which
helps an individual to enhance different capabilities, skills and potential that facilitates them to
gain all objective of employability and quality life. It includes number of activities which help an
individual to develop skills. Apart from training, there are different methods, tools, techniques
and many systems that supports positive adult development at different individual level of
organisation. Different academic skills that lead an individual to become proficient learner.
Development and growth build confidence in individual and facilitates to being a part of
competitive activities without any hesitation. Strategy is formulated that includes appropriate
action plan which are based on values, and values in specific field. In this report personal and
professional development, short-term, medium-term as well as long term goals are discussed.
Apart from that importance of objectives in personal and professional development in like of an
individual is being mentioned in this project.
TASK 1
Explanation of personal and professional development
PPD is described as the process that facilitates the an individual as well as organisation to engage
in learning activities in order to meet all challenges and gain desirable goals and objectives in
efficient manner. There are various skills and are requires that helps in attainment personal as
well as professional goals and objectives. Personal development is referred as the activity of
shaping skills and knowledge of an individual in effective manner for the purpose of enhancing
quality of life (Behari-Leak, 2017). Enhancement of personal skills help in achieving defined
goals and objectives through developing and implement appropriate development planning that
are relative career field such as education and job etc. Personal development maximises various
potential and competencies to live quality life (Brown, and Bogiages, 2019). PDP are developed
after evaluating current skills and requirements to achieve desirable goals as well.
Professional development is related to develop various relative and meaningful skills and
knowledges that facilitates to attain desirable professional goals that are related to the workplace
with full effectiveness and efficiency. It analyses and evaluates the areas that requires
improvement. Development of professional skills in an individual leads him to gain desirable
success and growth in career for long period of time. These skills are related to various things

such as counselling as well as provide coaching and training to staff members in order to
enhance required skills according to job role (Derrick and Wighting, 2019). Organisation
provides appropriate training and development programmes in order to accomplish all goals and
objectives of employees as well as respective organisation.
Short-term goals
Short-term goals are defined as objectives that a person want to achieve in near future. Goal
setting is the important task to attain them within defined time with effectiveness. These goals
are termed as the short duration goals as there are short time is decided to attain them in a year.
Successfully attainment of these goals enhances the morale as well as competitive spirit in an
individual and maximises the potential in order to attain long term goals efficient. Short term
goals work as a bridge between the current situation and desirable future outcomes and provide
specific path to attain final desired outcome in effective manner. There are different short-terms
are decided by the individual according to their final objective.
Examples of short-term goals
Enhance time management in order to manage time for each task in effectively to gain
objective efficiently.
Develop various interpersonal skills such as communication, leadership and team sprite.
Reduction of work pressure and stress to compete defined task in effective way.
Medium-term goals
Medium-term goals terms are referred as the specific objectives that are accomplished or
achieved in in the period of 18 to 3 months respectively. These goals are achieved after short
goals are achieved in sequential manner, proper accomplishment of these short as well as long
term goals facilitates an individual to attain long term goals in efficient manner. Goals and
objectives work as the bridge between short-term goals. These goals must be specific,
measurable, achievable, reliable and time based that creates value in individual life and help to
gain final long-term goals and objectives in effective and efficient manner within defined time.
Examples of medium-term goals:
Making future in legal department and accomplish all defined objectives in specific
period of time.
Enhancing various practical as well as theoretical management skills that facilitates to
complete all task in defined manner in effectively and efficiently.
