A Sales Manager plays an integral role in a business organization, as it is his or her
role to make the products and services offered by the organization reach out to the target
audience. For this purpose, the Sales Manager is required to interact with not only his or her
team of employees but also the customers in an effective manner, to incite a positive
outcome. Therefore, it can be said that the job of a Sales Manager is not only challenging but
also exciting. According to me, I will be able to a successful Sales Manager in the future
because I have skills in listening and communication. Moreover, I am an ambitious person
and strive to excel in what I do. Apart from this, I believe that I possess leadership skills and
the ability to influence and persuade others positively, which is an important aspect of sales. I
believe in the values of honesty and trustworthiness, implying that the organization I work in
can rely on me with responsibilities. However, I have a tendency to get myself overburdened
with such responsibilities, as I cannot delegate tasks among my subordinates. I hope to
improve upon this aspect through my team building abilities and guidance from my superiors.
The role of a sales manager requires me to be confident and inspiring. However, I tend to
lack confidence under certain circumstances like in terms of taking risks. I hope to improve
upon this by gathering more experience and knowledge in the industry. I consider ANZ Bank
to be my ideal organization as it is a globally recognized organization and one of the largest
banks in Australia and Asia. I believe that working in such an organization I will not only be
able to gather more knowledge and experience but also contribute a lot to its productivity and

1. Previous Career Aspirations
20 years ago, I was a student at an esteemed institution in Singapore. I studied various
subjects at this school and was unsure of what course to pursue in the future. However,
according to the reports of my teachers, I was always a fast learner and had an analytical
mind. My teachers supported me by helping me develop these skills through various
group and individual activities.
10 years ago, I had a relatively clearer perspective about my career aspirations. While
is I was in school I considered studying Science as I had a particular interest in Physics
and Chemistry. However, I gradually realized that I had a weakness in Mathematics.
Therefore, I evaluated my strengths in the other subjects and pursued my higher studies in
Business and Management. I also identified key strengths in communication and critical
thinking.
5 years ago, I was certain about what career I would choose. I developed a particular
interest in Sales as I had further enhanced my communication skills. Furthermore, my
understanding of business activities in organizations enabled me to identify the sector in
which my skills could be utilized in the optimum manner.
2. Observations
My observation about my career aspirations is that it has gradually developed over
time as I grew up. With a better understanding of the various scopes of career in different
fields of studies, along with an evaluation of the skills that I possess or can develop in
myself, I identified my interest in the business sector. However, the vast scope of the
business sector provides for various career opportunities. After extensive study and

courses in the field, I decided that I could pursue my career as a Sales Manager. I had
certain control over the skills that I possess and the choice of course. However, I had
insignificant control on the funds required to pursue such study as I was still a student and
did not have enough income.
3. Future Career Aspirations
I have always been enthusiastic about sales, ever since I have realized that this is what
I wish to pursue and is my forte. I have been good in communication especially when it
required persuasion. It has been very interesting to me to deal with new clients and newer
challenges and take them up while having to compete with my peers. After I have
realized my aspiration of becoming a sales manager, I have worked on myself to master
my abilities to communicate and undertake business responsibilities. As a sales manager,
I would be able to deal with major clients and enhance relationships of the company with
the customers with the knowledge I would be acquiring after completion of Masters of
Business.
4. Role in the Organization
The role of Sales Manager in ANZ bank will require me to contribute to the banking
system by employing my knowledge of management of sales as well as consultative skills
in order to align my role with the expectations of the company. According to the
objectives of the company, my role will also include procuring strategies to benefit the
company and implement them in order to bring resolution for future course of action. I
would be very keen about taking the role up in order to work with the executive, bring
solutions to wealth industry and enhance profitability targets of the company.

Role of a Sales Manager play a very crucial role in a business. A sales manager in a
company is responsible for developing strategies and appealing to the target audience. I have
not always been good at communications with people for which I had to work hard and
master the effective manners. My ambition has led me to pursue the course of Master of
Business administration, which I intend to excel in, with adequate effort, which is required.
Self-introspection has enabled be to acknowledge the weaknesses which might pose
limitation while working such as my inability to allocate responsibilities among subordinates.
While being associated with work, which required management and distribution of
responsibilities, I have often overburdened myself because I was not able to delegate tasks
among all people in my team. This needs to be addressed and improved in order to undertake
role as a Sales Manager and supervise performances made by other members. A sales
manager is responsible for developing understanding of other subordinate employees in the
company in order to align them along the objective of the company and add competitive
advantage to its operation. I have achieved award for generating top sales at Wrist
Companies, which has inspired me to be more dedicated towards achieving newer heights in
my career as a Sales Manager.
I also tend to be shy and less confident in many situation. During such situations, I
often tend to become less confident about the decisions, which involve risks. This needs to be
improved while gathering experience and knowledge to deal with situations, which involve
taking risks. ANZ will allow me to be explorative and open new doors for me. Perfection is
something I overvalue which makes me procrastinate and delay my actions. I wish to grab
such opportunities and make them count in order to increase profitability of the organization
as well as my personal capabilities as a Sales Manager.

Critical Analysis
A sales manager needs to exhibit knowledge and skills while promoting and
presenting a product in front of the customers in the market. It is required of them to provide
comprehensive understanding of the products and services and enhance growth and profit for
the organization. I would also would like to develop strong skills for solving problems in
crucial situations, which helps in dealing with commercial problems in business environment.
I would want to inspire and influence. I am eager to be associated with one of the top banks
in Australia and learn about corporate governance, which has helped them become one of the
most esteemed banks of the country.
