Reflection on Role play
For the self reflection on the particular event, activity or the experience the Gibbs
reflective cycle is the appropriate tool to be utilized.
Gibbs reflective cycle
The Gibbs reflective cycle contains six stages to define the experience of person in the
specific event. I am using this framework of reflection to evaluate my personal reflection on the
role play as the interviewer. The six stages of the Gibbs reflective cycle is discussed below:
Stage 1: Description: As the interviewer my feeling in the starting was self motivated as I was
highly passionate to take the interview of the candidates as this seems interesting to me. The
interview process was started in the company only and there where many candidates for the
recruitment and selection. There were other two members of the recruitment and selection team
with me to conduct this process smoothly and to have better decision making as a team. I was
appointed for asking the interview question related to the educational experiences. Others were
to ask about the working experience. The whole interview process was very interactive and
smooth. But there were also key problems encountered during the interview process.
Step2: Feelings: during this role play as an interviewer I encountered different feelings and
emotions at different stages. In the starting I felt motivated and excited for this role play as this
would help me gaining new learning experience. In between I faced many difficulties related to
the interaction with the other members in the role play. When the role play was very time

consuming I felt tried and exhausted. During the role play I was very outspoken and felt grateful
to learn from others. After the role play was completed I felt happy that I have gained some new
skills and also I was disappointed for some incident due to my lack of skills.
Stage 3: evaluation: as per my evaluation on the role I have evaluated the during the role play
my communication and interaction with others went very well due to which I was able to gain
peer to peer learning. I evaluated in mid of the role play that for interviewer decision making
skills are important to make quick decisions. I evaluated that in the role play there was low
cooperation from the other team members due to the lack of team working skills. Also in the role
play there was lack of leadership style as there was no willing to take accountability and
responsibility. I was making huge efforts through my learning style to gain the visual and other
methods of learning.
Stage 4: Analysis: from the experience of role play I have analysed that communication skills
are my key strength as this helped in interacting with the other members of the role play.
Through this role play I learned a lot about the recruitment and selection process, I have gained
personal learning, self motivation and many other behavioural aspects that will help in future. I
have analysed that I have faced problem in leadership and team working skills as there two areas
were highly poor and require a improvement.
Stage 5: Conclusion: it is concluded that as the interviewer in the role play a person must take
effective decisions in the particular situation to analyse my self learning and development in
whole situation. The whole role play has given me a very happening, positive and learning
experience. But there where events during the role play that has been problematic for me and
required to be mitigated from my experience. In future I will work on my team working skills to
make the event more learning and positive in experience.
Stage 6: Action plan: the action plan is the stage to develop the weaknesses identified in the
experience of the above role-play. To improve my leadership skills I will take initiative as a
leader for the team project in the role play this will help in removing my fear of taking
initiatives. To improve my team working skills will work on my collaboration, patience and
interaction abilities.

the part of personal reflection that drivers the person to achieve, develop or keep moving forward
in positive direction (Allen, 2021). As per my personal analysis my score for the self motivation
is 4.1THis means in regards of the self motivation I am doing good and not failing myself in
motivating my abilities and thoughts. Through this I have analysed I will be able to achieve
much m,ore through this skill of mine as when I will be pushing my limits beyond my
expectation I will conquer new opportunities and gain growth and development. For achieving
what I want I must improve or satisfy my motivational needs. I have analysed that for my self
motivation I need to satisfy my self esteem needs as for me learning is most essential to have self
motivation. There are four key areas that I must focus on in order to gain strongest level of self
motivation. Firstly I will work on my self confidence and self efficiency as these two are the key
to increase the level of self motivation. When I will be self confident for my actions I will be
motivated for doing my work more effectively and by this I will be able to gain self efficiency in
my work. For self motivation I must develop my thoughts towards the positive thinking about
my future development and growth. I must also develop positive thinking for my future goals. To
develop strong self motivation I will be more focused and also create the strong goals that could
provide me a path for the success making me self motivated to achieve my targets. Most
importantly to develop strongest level of self motivation I need to be in the motivating
environment where the other people can give me inspiration and motivation by sharing their
experiences.
LEARNING STYLE
Every person differs in the learning style as the persons a have different way of grabbing
the things which make them different from others (Dholakia, Jung and Chowdhry, 2018). There
are different learning styles such as practical learning, theoretical learning ,visual learning, peer
to peer learning and much more. In my role play experience I have watched many videos to
improve my performance and there I discovered that I am more comfortable and good at learning
through videos and pictures making me learning style visual learning style. I am visual learner
which means whatever is showed to me in the form of visual context I will understand and learn
faster. Also this make me fast talker as well as whatever I see I respond fast. I have discovered
during my experience that I am not good at learning through verbal instructions such as in the
form of notes, books, pdf etc. I have discovered that there is huge importance of handouts,
worksheets and written materials for the learner as it is evidence of learning and can be revised

whenever necessary. But for me the power point, text illustrations are more helpful in learning
due to my learning style. This form of learning style is stated as the Kinaesthetic learning style.
This is learning style in which learning is more practical as the individuals are not make to listen
lectures or watch demonstration rather they carry out physical activities. For example role play is
one of the key example of such learning style. Through this learning style as a learner I will be
more engaged with content and retain information faster. Kinaesthetic learning happens when
person do deep learning by doing the process. For this learning style the learner has
characteristics of multi sensor learning environment and also learner is actively engaged into the
learning. The example of such learning is learning through games. Through this learning style I
am able to learn to fast through the role play and its objectives. Also this learning style is highly
popular in today's world as the learners are more switching towards practical experience for their
learning and development.

The swot analysis is the key tool to analyse the person's own strength, weaknesses and
thereby gaining and insight to identify the future opportunities and threats (Gupta, 2019). My
personal reflection of skills, knowledge and capabilities through SWOT analysis is discussed
below:
Strengths: my self motivation capabilities are my key strength as this has helped to work with
efficiency and to reach my goals before deadlines. I have analysed during my role play that apart
from others I was more confident and always try to part of environment wherever there is
positive environment and people are there to motivate each other. This, shows I have self
motivation capabilities.
Weaknesses: from the role experience I have analysed that I have weak leadership and team
working skills. As in the role play there was no leader and also the team members has very less
interaction which each other.
Opportunities: while the development of the self motivation I have gained huge opportunity to
develop the my other behavioural aspects such as self confidence, self efficiency, goal setting
etc. all this was huge opportunity for development of my other skills such as motivational skills,
leadership skills. Through personal reflection I also gained an opportunity to evaluate myself as a
learner and my learning style.
