In this self-reflective essay, there will be a discussion about my personal resilience and
sustainability, self-management and leadership, personal effectiveness, Mind map and
synopsis. As resilience defines about the capacity of an individual for recovering rapidly from
the difficulties. From this perspective, I can say that I my resilience is strong because I
always bounce back from the difficulties. My positive behaviour and my optimistic habits
help me a lot in overcoming major difficulties. As there is a direct relationship between
positive behaviour of an individual and in their resilience. I know many people who fail in
dealing with their difficulties. They blame God and the situation but I can say that they fail
because of their own negative perspective. Thus, one should always incorporate a positive
mindset because a positive mindset is not only beneficial in their resilience but it is also
beneficial in their overall development. In this essay, there will be a discussion about the
resilience theory of adolescents with high mental toughness. Apart from this, in this self-
assessment essay, there will also be a discussion about the self-management, leadership,
sustainability, etc. Overall, all the important factors related to self-assessment will be
discussed. These concepts will be linked with renowned theories and I will also explain my
real-life scenario where I personally experience the importance of having these skills or
attitude.
Resilience and sustainability
Resilience is defined as the capacity of a human being to handle or perform in an appropriate
manner in an adverse way (Coman, 2018). Here, the capacity of a human being is linked to
his/her psychological capacity level rather than physiological capacity level. My resilience
helps me in outperform various adverse events without developing stress-related problems.
Although, here I want to conclude that my positive behaviour shapes are the ultimate way
that shapes my resilience. According to the psychological experts, resilience helps an
individual to look forward to the possible solutions of a problem instead of creating panic

positive thinking. Positive thinking states that the stage of mental empowerment in which a
person handle every situation with the clam mindset instead of being upset about a particular
situation. Thus, with my personal experience I have concluded (this same is also concluded
by psychological experts) if I want to keep my resilience strong then I have to make my
thinking positive. Likely, I can say that my thinking and mental thought pattern is extremely
positive. Since childhood, I am listening from my parents and elders that I am capable to

are strong. My positive thinking is the primary weapon that shapes my resilience and makes
me capable of closely analysis adverse situations. My father always says one thing that in
everyone's life problem never ends, they come and go, however, the major challenge is that
how an individual chose to deal with the problem.
As, resilience theory (from the perspective of an individual) indicates that it is not the nature
of the adversity that is important, the important thing is that how an individual deals with
such adversity (Coman, 2018). According to the resilience hypothesis, it is a biopsychosocial
and spiritual phenomenon and it involves a transactional dynamic process. It also involves
and becoming strong day by day, by encompassing an additional process of goodness. As

the resilience theory also indicates that resilience of an individual person is different bases
upon their ethnicity, race, gender, sex, economic status, religious affiliation and mental
thinking process. These are the prime factors that are behind the different resilience power of
an individual. For example: my behaviour for dealing with an adverse will be different then

reader’s mind that what if two people grows together and gets identical learning (like:

their thinking process will be same when they will enter into their adolescents age (10 to 19
years). If their thinking process will be different then their resilience will also be different.
So, this hypothesis as effectively answered that my resilience is different from the person
sitting next to me or from my siblings. An individual’s resilience offers them unique paths
and solutions to deal with the certain problem in an effective and efficient way.
According to me, mastering emotions and cultivating positive mindset are the way through
which an individual can make their resilience more power and reliable. As per various

guidelines). This is not the current way to operate with resilience. Instead of this, I should

Sustainability is the ability of an individual to live in the present movement. The process of
the sustainability involves the process of the cultivating a mindfulness in personal living
(Dong, et. al., 2018). Apart from this, sustainability also helps an individual to make optimum
utilization of the limited resource (Online.hbs.edu, 2020). As, sustainability defines to live in
the present movement without being compromising for the future events but I want to convey
that not all the time I live in the present movement, many times I also express my concern for
the future also. Moreover, principle of sustainability describes to live in the present
movement without being compromises for the future. Honestly, I respect this principle but
according to me an individual should always think for his/her future and they should make
adjustment in present so that their future can be positive and secure too. According to the
scholars, the purpose of sustainability principle is to empower people to live in the present
movement and to take appropriate actions in the present movement so that their future can be
secure. However, many teenagers and youngsters started thinking that living in present
movement is important without being compromising for future because future is uncertain
and we should live our live in this movement only without thinking and conducting
appropriate actions for future.
According to me, this is the wrong thinking pattern. Youngsters and teenagers are thinking
that they should live in this movement only and future will be created automatically. In this
movement, they should enjoy their life by travelling, having lot of booze, drugs, etc.
According to them, it is not worthwhile to plan for next 5 or 10 years because future is
uncertain and it is not being sure that they will live until next 5 or 10 years. This is not the
purpose of sustainability principle. They are right on two aspects, first, future is uncertain and
second, they should live their life in this movement but they are absolutely wrong on the third
aspect that states that there is no need to plan for future because all the things will happen
automatically. On this note, I want to explain further by showing difference in my thinking

from the aspects of sustainability and from other’s point view from the aspects of
sustainability.
From the principle of sustainability, I understand that I should live in the present movement
and I should take necessary actions in the present movement so that I can create a better
future for my-self. I also believe in enjoying life but not at the cost of spoiling my future. I
understand that my future will be shape based upon the habits I cultivate today, if today I
being addicted to drugs or booze then my habits will kill me in future by taking a shape of
deadly disease. Thinking for enjoying present movement is great but linking the aspects of
enjoyment with booze or drugs or other harmful addiction can surely put a person into
adverse situation in the future (Dong, et. al., 2018). I think that youngsters should change
their thinking and they should urge to understand the principle of personal sustainability from
the psychologist or from their parents or from self-development books. The problem is people
are understanding the principle of sustainability from Hollywood movies and these movies
are creating urge in them to enjoy life at this movement by incorporating booze or drugs.
Moreover, I can say that my resilience is not only helpful for me but it is also helpful my
workplace too. As my workplace requires effective solutions to deal with the problems in the
sophisticated manner. Apart from this, I also follow the principle of sustainability but
according to me it is great when an individual opts to live in present movement rather than
feeling worrying about the future. According to me, living in present and not worrying about
future implying to take actions or to form habits in the present movement without being
thinking negative about own future. From workplace point of view, sustainability is the
development activity that allows human to fulfil their current needs without harming the

relate sustainability principle with the principle life then it creates confusion in the people’s
mind. As people think that they should live in this movement only without compromising for
future but actually sustainability principle for self-development implies to form effective
habits in the present movement so that a person’s future can be secure. I feel bad when I see
that people of my ages are being addicted to drugs and they think that they are enjoying their
life. On the other hand, I always make sure that my present life incorporates right direction so
that my future can be secure too. I also believe in enjoying each and every movement of life
but not at the cost of displaying future.
Self-management and leadership
Self-management incorporate the process of involving various skills for self-development.
These self-management skills are problem solving, resisting stress, communication skills,
time management skills and strengthening memory (Webb and Chaffer, 2016). According to
me, incorporating these skills are necessary because these are the part of the self-development
cycle. In this section, I will talk about each skill and I will link these skills with my own self-
management process in an effective and efficient way. Before proceeding further, it is
important to understand about the individual self-management theory (ISMT). Self-
management is a procedure by which people and families use information and convictions,
self-guideline aptitudes and capacities, and social help to accomplish well-being related
outcomes (Contactzilla.com, 2019). It happens with regards to hazard and defensive elements

When we talk about self-management skills then let’s start with communication skills. My
communications skills are good but still too being honesty, I have to travel to the long way in
order to become expert at the communication skills. In communication skills, there are two
parts non-verbal communication skills and verbal communication skills. For me it is easy to
incorporate non-verbal communication skills because in this aspect I have to incorporate the
use of emails, chat boxes, hand gestures, etc. While in verbal communication skills,
sometimes I become nervous when I have to address to many people such as while people
speaking. As in public speaking, verbal communication plays 70% role and non-verbal
communication plays 30% role only. My verbal communication skills are currently
incorporating few barriers such as clarity in communication and confidence. As listening is
also the part of verbal communication and I can say that I am a good listener. Moreover,
previously I faced challenge in understanding each other because of the change in their
ascents but now I have analysed that now I understand the words of other people in an
effective and efficient way. Once I understand them completely then it is not a challenge for
me to talk to them.
Whenever I went to another place where the ascent of the people is different then mine. Then
in the initial stage I have to deal with the challenges arisen from verbal communication to
understand their ascents. After that once, I understand their ascent then I become capable in
effectively communicating them. Although, I need to work on my public speaking skills

in making new social connections. Public speaking also helps in the workplace because it is
important to communicate with large team members by giving them instructions on the

Apart from this, time management skills are also the important part of self-development
skills. I think that time management skills help me in managing my time accordingly. Here, I
am remembering a quote on time management which says that there is one thing common in
richest and poorer person that is both of them have 24 hours. It depends upon them how they
manage their time for incorporating results. I always work in the systematic manner and
before proceeding with any task (either the work belongs from my workplace or from my
personal life) I always allocate a fixed time line for completing the task. When I become
aware that I have to complete the task in the given deadline then it keeps me focused.
Moreover, while incorporating the norms of the time management I believe in staying
organized. As staying organized helps me in getting a clear picture of my goals and what I
need to complete in the given deadline. Before starting my day, I always prioritize the tasks
as per their necessity. After prioritizing, I first urge to complete my top priority tasks after
that I manage my time accordingly in an effective and efficient way possible.
Strengthening memory implies great recalling power with great imagination power (Webb
and Chaffer, 2016). My recalling powers are good as I recall things on the mind. In
strengthening memory, subconscious mind plays the important role. Apart from this, I cannot
say that I never fails at recalling things. Many times, it happens that forget my keys as these
are the sign that my subconscious mind is pre-occupied at that time. I have social media
accounts on different platforms and with social media accounts I also have various e-
commerce accounts, many times I noticed that I even forget their passwords too. For this
problem arisen from weak memory strengthening, I also figured out its effective solution. I

Transactional leadership is a style of authority where leader advance consistence by devotees
through the prizes and punishment (Baškarada, Watson and Cromarty, 2017). Through a
prizes and punishment framework, leader can keep adherents roused for the present moment.
Transactional leadership hypothesis depends on the possibility that supervisors give
representatives something they need in return for getting something they need
(Contactzilla.com, 2019). It sets that laborers are not self-propelled and require structure,
guidance and observing so as to finish assignments accurately and on schedule. Here, I adopt
the aspects of transactional leadership for personal development. By understanding the
aspects of the transactional leadership, I have analysed that transactional leaders always
motivate their followers or employees by offering them prizes and if necessary then they also
punish them. By understanding this aspect, I also starting self-reward and punishment
program for me. By incorporating my time management skills, I analyses the time I require to
complete my tasks then if I successfully completed my task then I reward myself by eating
my favourite chocolate cone, playing my favourite online games, etc.
On the other hand, attributes of transactional leaders help in understanding that whenever I
fail in completing a task within a given deadline then first, I analyse about the factors that had
created hindrance for me while completing the task. After evaluating these hindrances, I
started working on these and I make sure that such challenge does not appear next. According
to me, as a human being it is normal that we do mistakes a lot. Even, we should do mistakes,

Even, we should do mistakes,
not even for once but even for 1000 times. However, we should not repeat the same mistake

Moreover, if I have to choose a specific leadership style for workplace then I would like to
opt for democratic leadership style. Democratic leadership style, it is regularly joined with
participatory initiative since it requires coordinated effort among leaders and the individuals

and their staff (Fiaz, Su and Saqib, 2017). This is valid for all associations — from private
undertakings and government organizations to instructive establishments and charitable

From working on any big project, I first urge to prepare a mind map. First, I focus on the
central idea or issue of the problem. Then I write down the centre idea in the big central
block. Then I add branches to this central idea. For example: in general sense, every idea or
thought incorporates many other thoughts. I represent these thoughts in the form of the
branches of the central idea. I also add fascinating colours and images in my mind map to
make the mind map more attractive. Here, I want to convey that I always keep my mind map
personal to me, I keep it in my personal wardrobe. However, many times I even make mind

mind map is in protected locker and it is only accessible to me only.

precautions that I should incorporate before commencing the plans. From my past experience,
I can conclude that it is important to include necessary precautions while preparing synopsis
because my many plans are failed, not because of planning or analysis but because of not
taking precautions while operating the synopsis. Apart from this, in order to deal with my
personal issues, I usually make a brief summary at the end of my mind map. On the other

From my personal perspective I can say that synopsis is the easier way to explain things to
the people rather then showcasing mind map. As in mind map, it is important to tell
teammates about the behind factors that are responsible for the origin of a particular thought.
Thus, I believe that incorporating the norms of the synopsis is the easy way to make people
things understand in an effective manner. Here, I am not stating the mind map should not be
