INTRODUCTION
In this competitive era, it has become hard to get desired level of job. It requires some
skills and knowledge that assist a person to work as per the needs of corporates. However,
personal and professional development is crucial for an individual to initiate successful career. It
assists a person to develop himself in a desired direction. Park Plaza hotel has considered getting
better knowledge of the concerned subject. On the basis of present study, I want to pursue my
career in retail industry. The purpose of report is to describe the impact of self managed learning
in forming career. Report is about to describe a PPD plan considering various activities.
TASK 1
A
Self-managed learning helps in broadening the professional competencies of an
individual. This process assist in managing own way of learning of a person. As a result, the
personality and knowledge is enhanced with the help of this process. It assists in setting goals
and objectives by analysing the learning purpose and formulating plans (Cassidy, 2009). In
addition to this, different approaches can be used for imparting knowledge by an individual.
They are stated below.
Seminar and Conferences: it is considered as an effective way of imparting knowledge
by an employee. It offers opportunity to present knowledge, ideas and facts in front of large
number of people. It excels the confidence level of a person to express ideas effectively. It results
into development of transferable skills and presentation skills that can be useful for an
organization.
Internet: This is the easiest and fastest mode of getting information. It covers all the
aspects of information where ample of data and facts are available related to concerned subject.
There are several sites are available through which variety of data on a single topic is accessible.
With the help of internet, one can expand one's knowledge and ideas that can assist others too.
Social networks: Social network includes Facebook, twitter, g mail and blogs. There are
wide range of social networks are available to get informations. Blogs are there where users
update information, with the consideration of this information the level of knowledge can be
improved (Hughes and Youngson, 2009).

Lifelong learning is all about a continuous process of imparting knowledge and
information. It assists in growing an individual in different aspects of life. However, there are
some way that can be considered to enhance lifelong learning. In an organization, distribution of
books or providing library can be useful for the concerned subject. Apart from work there must
be some time provided by the management of companies to its employees to get some time in
library. It will result into taking appropriate career decisions. Another method that can be
adopted by the management of corporates is to conduct tuitions and recognition programmes. It
will enhance the knowledge level of a subordinate which to better achievement of organizational
and personal goals. On the basis of given study, the above techniques will remain fruitful for me
to get bright career opportunities (Miles, 2012). Currently, I am working as coach at Park plaza
country hotel. There are varies services are being provided by me. My ultimate aim is to pursue
my career in retail industry for this above techniques will be helpful for me to get desired
opportunities.

Self managed learning is an approach which reflects in management process. It enables
individual to manage their own studies and learning in order to achieve organizational goals.
This process of learning helped me in achieving targets of my firm. My experience in a retail
business helped me in understanding and to solve the problems arises in different areas of work.
It helped me in managing following things: Customer service: I have an experience of sales assistant at Eat Ltd where I gain
knowledge about how to provide better customer service which helps in growth and
development of enterprise. This helps me in improving customer service in hospitality
management. With the help of this, I would be able to provide excellent customer
services. Simultaneously, queries and complaints will also manage by me effectively
(Smith and et. al., 2010). Training and development programmes: My education assist me in arranging training
sessions when ever it required for development of employees in organization. This
learning provides knowledge about various areas where an individual should get training
for their future betterment. It assists in comparing the current position of an individual to
meet further requirements.

 Promoting products of company: I have four years of working experience at Costa
Coffee where I acquire knowledge about how to promote the products of a company.
Product display helps in achieving this target. It is very useful in terms of marketing the
products and services of Park Plaza Hotel. Thus, self managed learning from the
experience is very useful in managing all business activities in this hotel industry
(Andersson, 2012).

personal goals can be attained. Overcoming the weakness will assist me to get desired outputs at

I posses key strengths that will help me to get desired career opportunities. In addition to
this, there are some areas where I lack some qualities which are required to get improved on time
for better performance and productivity. There are some development opportunities that would
help me to enhance my skills for concerned job. In context to it, attending training programmes
and apprenticeships will excel my performance and current position in the organization.
Considering these programmes will lead into acquisition of technical and digital skills. Presently,
I am working as a coach at Park plaza country hall hotel. There I supervise work and provide
requisite training to the new employees of the firm. Repetitively doing this work has helped me
to gain experience in the field of hospitality. Further, I can pursue my career in this area where I
can work with great knowledge. On other side, developing leadership skills and management
skills will assist me in escalating my career in a required direction. Improvement in time

A
A development plan will consider successful only when it is effectively implemented. It
is necessary to decide a procedure to be used by me so that the plan can be effectively
implemented. In context to this, the plan will be taken into action with the help of following
activities which are given below.
1. I need to make more interactions with the other employees so that my communication
skills will improve.
2. In order to enhance my time management skills, it is necessary to keep a diary on which I
can write my tasks to be accomplished.
3. I shall seek training from professionals to improve my technical skills
4. For the improvement of presentation skills I will attend conferences and seminars which
leads to enhance my presentation skills. It will assist in boosting my confidence so that I
can get better job opportunities.
5. It is crucial for me to improve my time management skills so that I can perform all the
task effectively. As a result, I will be able to management different task at higher level.
6. For poor decision making I need to emphasize on increasing knowledge with the help of
internet and reading books and journals. With updated knowledge, I will be able to take
better organizational decisions (Moon, 2013).
Planned activities can be undertaken on the basis of following criteria as it is given in above
table. For example it is seen that,
1. To develop my technical skills, it is required to get a certificate in field of technical
operations. So that, with the developed technical skills I can adopt the changes in
organization.

2. I need to get accomplished my work in more improved way so that I can overcome the
problem of time management. It can be enhanced by considering various management
tools like diary, notepad where the tasks are mentioned. On the basis of that, the tasks are
performed.
3. To improve coordination with team members, I need to make analysis on strength and
weakness of members. It will assist me in evaluating the behaviour of each and every
individual in a team.
Overcoming these problems will not only improve my position but also the organization
where I work or I will be going to work. Because an employee makes an organization. The way
of working can affect the whole process in the organization. On the basis of above information,
concerned documents will help in knowing the results of these activities.

It is crucial for me to make comparison on between my actual and targeted position. It is
imperative for me in examining at what level I am after using the self managed learning
techniques. In addition to this, the analysis will help me to know my actual position and what are
the changes that are needed to be done by me to improve and eliminate deviations. It is important
for me to put some more efforts so that the desired results can be attained by me. Presently I am
working as a coach at Park plaza and getting education at Icon college Btec Hnd hospitality
management. I aim at pursuing my career in hospitality services so that I can make better use of
knowledge and skills in practical aspect. I shall work hard to attain my goals and objects with the
consideration of certain tool and techniques. There are some ways mentioned below will help to
examine my learning (Pedler, 2011).
