INTRODUCTION
Business environment includes various internal and external factors which has impact on
the both strategies and decision making of the organisation as well as on the individual who
seeks employment within the particular industry. This is because the individual has to develop
various such skills and abilities that can facilitate them in accomplishing their personal goals and
objectives. Such skills, abilities and knowledge is developed by them during their academic
course and by additional efforts in order to build competence so that they can manage the level
of competition and challenges. In this report the skills which are required to an individual in
business and academic context are discussed that can ensure them to be successful and to garb
the opportunity they have by efficiently managing the challenges faced by them.
MAIN BODY
Skills development is crucial for an individual as it enable them to accomplish various
goals and objectives as with this they can identify the opportunities better and can efficiently
manage the challenges they face. By acquiring various skills students can ensure that they have
equal capabilities and competence to perform better in academics while it also enables in
performing better professionally as the level of competition in the jobs can be be overcome with
the ability and competence. Since my secondary education I had significant understanding of the
importance of different skills to be successful both in studies as well as in career. Due to this I
had participated in various activities time to time on different platforms so that I can enhance my
ability to deal with various challenges and to manage the impact of various situation that may
arise before me. To support I tend to determine the gap between the required skills and the skills
that I have so that I can develop them before time. I read in a survey that the most of the people
in today's world lacks with necessary skills this is homogeneous among all which increase the
gap of skills and thus make an individual unable to manage various challenges that can impact
them in long term. I always has a belief that better skills opportunities within the academics and
at workplace can easily be availed as skills development provides exposure to various career
prospects with which ability of handling employment can be improved.
I have been consistently emphasising on the various skills required in my field which is
business management. I participated in various activities within university such as group
presentation due to which I could develop skills such as effective communication, team work,

time management, problem solving etc. At the time of undertaking the activity I had to work in
team of five people where I was given the responsibility of managing the tasks to be performed
during the group activity so that it can ensured that the desired outcomes are achieved within the
time limit. For better and effective communication I defined the channel with which we have to
communicate and who has to communicate whom in different situation and this enabled us in
conveying creatives ideas and in managing possible issues that we could face. All the task were
allocated with the defined time limit so that completion of the activity can be ensured as per
planning done by us. The time management skills is crucial for me as I want to work with
multinational organisation and on a managerial post which requires efficiency in managing the
work within the time available in such a manner that the resources with the transition are utilised
efficiently. The task by each and every group members were completed as per planning and we
could completed the project on time with significant level of research as as per the instructions of
the tutor so that better marks are awarded. But during the project we faced an issues which was
related with the authenticity of the data that we used in the project because we were lacking in
the numeracy skills which enables an individual in interpreting and communicating the
mathematical information. I had to use the data for the presentation and due to lack of skills the
authenticity of the interpretation was an issue for us. It made me realise that I have to work upon
this so that I can ensure that all the available mathematical and statistical information are utilised
efficiently for making decisions. The presentation of the activity further facilitated in evaluating
my information and communication skills as the presented was to be presented individually
through power point. By preparing the presentation for the activity I realised that my
understanding of the information and communication is better as my tutor praised me for the way
I presented my research and outcomes before them.
With the help of this group activity I could evaluate strength in context of my skills and
abilities of undertaking various activities as per the business environment. The employability
skills are crucial for performing the role efficiently within an organisation with skills such as
communication skills, time management skills, teamwork skills the task can efficiently be
undertaken in such a manner that the resources are utilised completely. Further such analysis of
the strength and weaknesses of the skills will enable me in analysing the area of improvement
with which the level of competition at the workplace can be managed well. Also this will

enhance my ability to take various decisions and making the employees along with team
members work together with better efficiency and co-operation.
By analysing the participating in various activities and challenges which are faced while
undertaking the activities I could identify that my communication skills are effective with the
help of I can convey my ideas and thoughts to others so that the work can be completed on time
with efficiency. In addition to this such skills will also enable in taking competitive advantage
over other as this will facilitate me to demonstrate my abilities and competence to the employer.
The time management skills will facilitate me professionally in completing the projects on the
time along with this I can efficiently prioritise the work as per the requirement and the level of
complexity so that it can be completed on time and all the milestones of the task or project can
be achieved. The team work ability also has advantage for me and I can efficiently work in team
as I have participated in various group activities due to which all the work are to be done with
better coordination and cooperation. With this I can efficiently complete the role by ensuring
compatibility with each other. This will make me capable enough for taking various decision as
well as involving others by considering the ideas and concerns of others. With all these skills I
can efficiently manage the challenges that I will face but for managing the level of competition I
have to identify the skills that I have to develop so that influence of such skills can be reduced.
On the basis of analysis of the skills I realised that I need to develop numeracy skills,
problem solving skills as well as inter personnel skills as with the help of this the issues which
are faced can efficiently be resolved by determining the cause effect relationship. I will enrol
myself in various online program as this can facilitate me in developing the skills to interpret the
data and make recommendations for resolving the issues. In addition to this, I aims to learn the
various techniques and strategies which can be implemented within the workplace for developing
better understanding with other people and the team mates. It can be done by attending various
seminars and sessions of the experts and motivators because this will bring flexibility in my
nature and level of patience due to which the performance within the workplace can be ensured.
Also I will keenly observe various changes that are taking place within the business environment
so that abilities and skills can be developed accordingly in such manner that the goals and
objectives associated with the role can be managed effectively.

CONCLUSION
It is concluded from the above report that an individual has to take into consideration
various skills, abilities and level of competence as with this they can ensure that they are capable
enough of managing the challenges and opportunity that they will have. For this an individual
assessment must be undertaken for the skills and abilities as with this strengths and weaknesses
can be determined. This facilitate the individual to make necessary improvement so that they can
ensure their professional as well as academic competence for carrying out their roles and task
allocated to them. Apart from this they must also focus upon business environment as this enable
them to evaluate various changes that they need to comply with in order to be successful.
