INTRODUCTION
Personal development portfolio may be defined as supported and structured process undertaken
by individual to reflect their learnings, achievement and performance in order to plan for their
development of personal, career and educational (Kuhn, 2019). It helps in evaluation of of
strengths and weaknesses of individual along with that provides a plan which helps in overall
development of individual. It helps in formulation action plan for future and incorporates
individual competencies and statements of individual's education, learning and aspirations. In
other words it is an process of generating action plan which helps in improving skills of an
individual. This project will cover a personal development portfolio and how skills helps in
becoming effective student of business management in higher education. Further, it will also
cover how skills helps in future success of students. In addition to that it will cover two models
of academic and personal development in order to reflect learning.
TASK
Personal development helps in enhancing self awareness of and what an individual wants in his
life. It will also cover skills that he shave gained and the gaps which is needed to filled in order
to achieve personal or professional goals. It provide with action plan which can be used in
enhancing career of individual. As I want to become manager in my future and this module helps
me as it provide me with relevant skills which are needed to become an effective manager. This
will helps me in becoming effective manager. I can identify my strengths and weaknesses and
with that I can grab opportunity which will help me in my future.
Personal development goals
As I want to become manager in my future and for that it requires lot of skills which helps in
becoming an effective manager. I have analysed that my communication skills are not good and
for that reason I am unable t convey right message to people. Sometimes due to non effective
communication, people may misunderstood message. Communication skill is an essential skill
that I want to enhance through this module. It helps in conveying right message to people. This
strengthens the relationship between me and my peers. It facilitates in understanding information
more quickly and easily. In case of poor communication, message can be misunderstood (Dahl
and et.al., 2018).

Importance of communication skill
If a manager is highly qualified and skilled but if do not have good communication skill,
then it is irrelevant. Communication skill will help me in communicating directions effective to
my team in order to get work done through them in an effective manner (Griffin, 2021).

The basis of coordination -It helps me in explaining company's goals, objectives and
mission statements so that they can get clarity about roles and responsibilities which they
have to perform within organisation. It facilitates in providing coordination between
various employees. By this I can effectively communicate with my team mates and

in order run organisation smoothly. It is not possible to effectively coordination without
proper communication.
The basis of decision making -By getting right information, it helps in taking right
decision as no decision can be made in case of not having right information.
Increase efficiency -It heps in elevating efficiency of company and it will help me in
increasing overall performance. By this it will also help in increasing performance of
company.
Increases cooperation -two way communication helps in developing cooperation and
peace in organisation. This will help me in providing foster environment to team mates so
that they can work with their peak potential. It helps in creating mutual understanding
between workers and management and increases harmony among them.

physical and social aspects of work. It also promotes employee relation along with
motivates employees in order to attain organisational goals smoothly.

development. I will collect and organise that information in a structured manner which
helps me in understanding each activity or task that I have to follow ti promote personal
growth. After that, I will formulate effective strategise which will direct me towards
successful personal growth.
Action -Ir is the hardest step in taking action towards goals. As I have formulate
strategies and this time I have to implement step by step. I will use my existing skills
which will enhance effectiveness of my plan.
Result – I will measure my effectiveness of plan by comparing actual performance with
standard criteria. If the criteria fulfils then the plan which I have formulate is effective
and if it shows any negative I will take corrective measures in order to make it correct.

me in a polite manner. Their support is valuable for me in understanding this module. I have also

studies and they provided me a platform where I can overcome my weakness. They advised me
where I am lacking. This makes me in eliminating my weakness and boost my self confidence.

mentors and read journals and books in order to know about principles of effective
communication. I will try to improve this skill in upcoming three months. I will take participate

improve my performance. I will take responsibility of my performance and try to improve my
skills that will be used in my professional career. I will take opportunities that are available for
me and take every step to improve my performance.

This model will help me in self development as by this I can assess and prioritize my work based
on important, not important, urgent and non urgent. This will save my time and I can manage my
time with other activities. I will focus on most urgent task and put all efforts to complete that
work. After that I will put other work. This will help me in knowing which work is important and
which is not, so that I can focus on more important work. I will not face any emergency if I have
prioritise my work.

From the above project report, it was concluded that skills plays an important role in making an

management skill helps me in managing my time with professional career and academic career.
Critical thinking helps me in solving problem of both my academics and professional career. I
can analyse cause and find the best alternative to find solution to that issue.
