INTRODUCTION
In order to choose an organisation it is required by individuals to make sure that they are
aware about the field and work that are engaging them. The following report consists of Gibbs
model of reflection which explains various skills and qualities that are required for individual to
perform a particular job (Mahalakshmi, MuthuSelvi and Sendhilkumar, 2020). The reflection
also consists of strengths and weaknesses and certain steps that will be taken in order to
overcome the weaknesses.
REFLECTION
In order to share my experience of people and organisation which critically helped me to
understand the organisation and field I want to work professionally Gibbs Reflective cycle is
used. There are 6 steps included in this reflective cycle as mentioned below:
Description: It was a great experience I went through while learning about the
organisation and my personal skills and traits that will help me to work in those organisations
successfully. I chose to in a marketing organisation which will help me to improve my analytical
skill and also manage the work according to the requirement of changing market and consumers
perception. I have an extrovert personality that is fit for the job I wish to do. This personality will
effectively help me to know people around me and judge them based on their nature. Working in
other organisation such as finance and human resource will not take effective use of my
character and lead to demotivate me.
Feelings: Understanding my own personality and the different types of job that I would
prefer provided me a feeling of self- satisfaction. It was important to me to conduct an analysis
on myself which also helped in developing self-revelation in myself and with the help of which
now I can effectively make the required changes in my behaviour to attain all my goals and
objectives. The feelings of my friends and family was also positive as they helped me to
administer my qualities and point out my mistakes. I used theory of motivation in order to
understand the relationship between my efforts and the results that I am attaining with the help of
those (Spasojević-Brkić and et. al 2020). When the efforts and results were equal to my
expectations I felt more motivated as explained in Adam's equity theory.
Evaluation:While working on myself and choosing my field of organisations I developed
inside knowledge about various different types of qualities that I would want to incorporate in

order to work effectively and achieve all the required goals I have set for myself. Leadership was
one of the important factor that I needed to develop. There are a number of different leadership
theories present that would help me in marketing field. But the best theory amongst it is
situational leadership theory(Woods, 2019). As the external environment of a business is
continuously changing it becomes important for me to make sure that I am changing the
leadership style I use as well. Along with these presentation skills are my strength that is an
important requirement for the profession I am choosing.
Analysis: There are a number of ways in order to conduct a self analysis which I learned
from the module while choosing a perfect platform for me to work in. I analysed all my strengths
and weaknesses and then compared them to those required to work in marketing field. Soon the
realisation to work on different skills arise. It was necessary to work on communication skills,
presentation skills, leadership skills, team management skills and analytical skill along with it.
Another analysis helped me to understand various ways to create an effective team. It was
necessary to make sure that an effective team is created that is supported by leader to fulfil the
required objectives.
Conclusion: The self analysis concluded that I would be best fit to work in marketing
field. Marketing organisation will help me to enhance my quality and also gain profits in long
run professionally. Along with it the analysis done also helped me to understand importance or
organisational culture as described in Handy's model. This model divides culture in an
organisation in four parts that are person, culture, role and task. The reflection also helped in
concluding that leadership and presentation skills are my strength and communication skills and
team development skills are the weaknesses that I need to work upon.
Action Plan: In order to make sure that I am successfully developing all the required
skills that are my weaknesses now I developed an action plan. In order to work on my
communication skill I provided myself with a time of 3 months. I asked my friends to work with
me and correct my mistakes. I also decided to undertake some classes which will help me to gain
guidance of professionals in order to enhance my skills. On the other hand in order to develop
team development skills I decided to work in team and learn about various theories such as
Tuckman's team development model and Belbin's team role theories that would help effectively
in development of a team (Solomon, 2020).
