1PERSONAL BRANDING
Personal Branding:
In the general sense of term, personal branding is an idea associated with the art of
creating a brand encompassing a particular person rather than around a particular business.
However, it acts as the same way as it acts for the business, which is to create an idea of the
persona and developing one’s position as the expert within the industry. The major problem or
misconception about personal branding is the fact that, personal branding is not a tool for self-
promotion campaign. Rather, it requires deep introspective as well as leadership capabilities to
make one stand unique in the crowd by creating a proper brand image about the self. With the
proper development of the personal branding techniques, an individual will be able to market
themselves and their capabilities and grow their social following by the means of their
reputations and skills. This in turn, will enable them to secure a better position and reputation in
their job and at the same time increase their opportunities in the careers concerned. The creation
of the personal branding requires a sufficient amount of planning and incorporating the attributes
of value proposition, marketing and the differentiation attributes. An effective personal branding
gives the individual more creditability and let the recruiters find the individual with ease.
(Knowles Tyler and Eubank et al. 2006)
Personal Brand Statement:
The personal branding statement is an effective tool that helps the individual to engage
conveniently with the target audience and promotes an effective plan of action. The personal
branding statement chosen by me was the incorporation of blogging content in my own social
media and business profiles. Initially it looked like an upfront work, as it was a personal

branding without any voice. However, later I realised that the If I consistently create the blogs
for some time at a go, I can effectively build up audiences around myself who will regularly
check and follow my updates. Since, my main area of concern is the fashion world and I am a
fashioner designer aiming to become a fashion entrepreneur, I focused my blog posts on the
writings about lifestyle and trending fashions in the clothing industry. Apart from incorporating
my own articles on the fashionable accessories and designers outfits designed by me, I try to link
the stuffs purposefully with the value-based contents like what type of dressings will suit a
particular body structure or what materials for a dress will be suitable for particular climates. In
my blogging, I also incorporate the story telling approach, which can entice the readers and let
them know more about my brand and my business. I also focus on V logging my tutorial classes
on designing where some of my friends model my own clothing line and I describe the tits and
bits of each designing. Though my line of business is something that is accumulated round the
world of glamour and focus, I personally like to be out of spotlight for a definite span. Thus,
sometimes I prefer only to write descriptive and informative blogs about the recent trend in
fashion world and deliberately skip the introduction of my own products.
Feedbacks on Personal Branding:
The most common feedback that I used to get from my personal branding techniques, that
it effectively reflected my thorough knowledge about my subject that becomes an added criteria
whereby the target audience will trust on my findings and researches. My peers and instructors
appreciated my efforts in featuring the V logs that reflects my ability in visually depicting the
products and guiding the audiences in choosing their outfits. The story telling method used by
me has also reflected in a positive outcome whereby the audiences feels engaged and can

connect themselves with my world. This has amassed me a large number of followers. However,
as the constructive feedbacks, my tutors have pointed out to the fact that concentrating solely on
the content has made my area of personal branding to be highly formal and inapproachable that
will lead to a miscommunication between the audience and me. one of the tutors pointed me out
that though the writings reflected by hold on the subject ,the negative criticisms on the contents
are directly shown in the comment section that will influence the other followers. More
generalised personal branding techniques like the use of video or mood board will not face this
kind of problems. (Karaduman 2013)
In order to have a successful personal branding experience, some frameworks can be
incorporated as well. One of the most effective one in this case would be the Gibbs Model of
reflection that systematically analyses the different phases of reflection
(http://www.open.edu/openlearn/education/learning-teach-becoming-reflective/). In the first
phase, I decided to describe my personal branding techniques through the manifestation of the
contents and videos. Examining the personal branding techniques, I believe that my used method
is well compatible with my profession and personality. I am an individual who loves creativity as
well as knowledge. Thus, fashion to me, is not necessarily the displaying of the glamour world,
but to explore the craft thoroughly.
The evaluation of my task and the feedbacks made me understand that I still have a large
room for modification of my personal branding techniques. It is effective in meeting the
perceptions of my target audience to some extent though, it is not enough to develop a full proof
image. (Safitri, Y., 2017)

Analysing the situation, I am of the opinion that in order to increase the visibility and
communication I can monetise m y blog into the online fashion store as well.
Another important framework that can be incorporated in the report is the Byme article in
order to understand properly the USP of an individual in the business environment (Byrne 2015).
This article eventually turned out to be an effective one as this has helped me in the identification
of my strengths and skills that I can use in my benefit to market myself and my service. This has
been beneficial for me because of its thorough discussions on points like time management,
customer relationships and marketing that has helped me to develop my further plan of actions in
order to create a structured branding.
