Personal Statement

A strong force driving me to choose a course related to accountancy
and finance is the clarity with which I made up my mind to pursue a
career as an investment banker. I firmly believe that it is the same
clarity which is essential to gear up with passion and achieve the goal
we choose. My career goal is and always has been to become an
investment banker. As Robin Sharma, in his book, 'Monk who sold his
Ferrari' rightly said, "Everything is created twice, first in mind and then
in reality," I have already forged myself into an investment banker in
my mind and am here, as I do not want to take chance in converting
my vision into reality.
Whenever I question myself this most important question, "why
investment banking after all the courses available?" I go back to my
childhood days where I used to help in the household chores to earn
my pocket money. Earning through efforts made me realize the value
of money and as I grew up I got to know the role of an investment
banker in helping the corporates in meeting their capital needs and got
fascinated with the responsibility.
Apart from aspiring my education in accounting and finance domains, I
even deserve to pursue these courses as I possess both the required
skills and past experience. Starting from my daily knowledge
enhancement routine of reading magazines such as 'investors business
daily' and 'deal book' to my physical activities participation in sports
like badminton and basketball, I try everything which helps me in my
academics.
I have a strong foundation in subjects like accounts, economics, and
math. This strong base in accounting helped me to understand
business environment, math enhanced my problem-solving capacity
and economics helped me harness my comprehension, analytical and
writing skills.

Backed by my confidence and enthusiasm to keep going, I have also
dedicated a portion of my day to extracurricular activities. I was an
active member of my school's perfect body and took part in the
organization of various events. My role as an organizer was
instrumental in the success of the many events and received acclaim
for my dedication in discharging my responsibilities.
Instances where I proved my talent includes the participation in
'Skyline Business Talent Hunt' which is aimed to bring out the
entrepreneurial skills. Our team participated in 3 segments - Design,
Development and marketing a mobile application. It was a time-bound
competition where we as a team had to come up with an idea of a
unique mobile application, a detailed plan of action on how we are
going to proceed with the idea.
Apart from competitions, I also attended conferences such as Model
United Nations (MUN) to increase my awareness of the contemporary
conditions of nations across the world. I firmly believe that it is only
through awareness we can contribute better to society be it in ones
professional or personal life
To obtain practical exposure, I have undergone an internship program
with the Bank of Singapore. The one-month internship program not
only gave me an insight of how banks operate but also equipped me
with fair knowledge about share markets as I used to analyze share
prices and trends in the prices of various companies.
To pursue my further studies in the UK is my dream and is of utmost
importance to me as I am always amused of the standards of
education in the UK and the practical oriented training adopted by the
Universities here. Everything about the education system in the UK
excites me, be it the courseware or the projects that will be assigned
to the students or pressure free methods adopted by the teachers
here. The UK has always been an impeccable society and I firmly

believe that living in the UK can bring up a significant influence on my
overall awareness levels. Having taught civilization to mankind, the UK
has always treated people of different cultures and ethnicity with
warmth and I am sure I can feel home in the UK.
