PERSONAL STATEMENT
Am an ardent chemistry lover who has been yearning to acquire more knowledge in the field of
chemistry. Components of nature have always intrigued me, chemistry being a subject that
inquires into the nature of things has become my specialty. My understanding of chemistry has
been limited to what I have been introduced to at school so I haven’t yet gotten an opportunity to
study chemistry to the depth offered in the college. My interest in chemistry is buoyed by the
achievements of great scientists such as John Dalton and Dmitri Mendeleev. My quest for an
ideal university to pursue my dreams was a daunting task but this university emerged to be the
best of my choices. After getting information on the university’s website and visiting this
campus I discovered that I had found a place I have hoped for in undertaking my college studies.
I am hardworking, polite, confident, responsible and friendly. I am able to work in a busy
environment and also within team setting. I like and am willing to learn something new in this
and any other related subject. I have learnt to be careful and keen on finer details while working
in the chemistry laboratory because I understand the gravitas of disobeying procedures in
environment of chemicals.
Chemistry is a difficult undertaking that I can’t pretend to expect an easy course during my
tenure in college. However, I believe to have been acquiesced to requisite skills and knowledge
that forms a stronger background upon which I will build my career. My aspirations to enroll in
this program are founded on the urge to expand my horizons, reach out to newer ideas and tackle
issues from an informed standpoint, that will impact change in the life of people around the
world academically, professionally and ethically. Being a leader of science club in my high
school granted me an opportune moment to be a vehement supporter of clean and sustainable
environment free from pollution. I understand that chemistry is a bastion of scientific
development in any nation and medium in which industrial growth has been spurred. Such
development can only be achieved by those who earnestly work smart to achieve their
prospective goals in their specialization. I am one such individual, I believe that my objectives
should be realistic and has to be achieved on time.
I know the secret to success lies in teamwork, accepting divergent views from others and using
them to expand the scope of knowledge. My journey into the history of science and chemistry in
particular points at great chemists in history as people who understood teamwork and would

always make inventions by building on the work of others or by incorporating spirit of
togetherness in their research, as such no single significant invention has been done solely by one
individual. Realization that collective effort minimizes prospects of errors has been one of my
pillars in pursuit for academic excellence. I believe that the connection this university has with
others in this nation and abroad will necessitate information sharing and provide synergy geared
towards the development of the world as a whole. Furthermore, the relationship between the
professors and students is strong and gives an impression of a large family.
Away from my studies, am a fervent football player. More often you will find me exercising in
the fields with my fellow team members from a local club. It contributes a greater deal to my
mental and physical fitness. I have chosen to apply in this institution for I realize that is the
perfect university for me. Any great institution is as good as students who have gone through it
and as an all-round student who has manifested good performance academically, socially and in
his co-curricular activities I believe that I will contribute to and learn from this institution and its
established environment. I perform most effectively in a serene academic atmosphere and I look
forward to reap heavily from this wealthy campus. I truly believe that through my dedication and
determination in this subject I will fulfill my potential by attending this university.
