Career ambition
My ultimate goal in life is to prepare myself in a way that can satisfy the motive of
addressing the needs arising from social care and health care in society. My career ambition
based upon my goal and qualification is inclined towards the aim of working in the healthcare
sector. In this sector, I can effectively contribute to my experiences in social care and
healthcare, along with my computer skills. My aim will involve the efforts of delivering
values and pleasure for the sole purpose of redefining healthcare. My career objective
association with healthcare includes various sub-objectives such as disability, preventing the
premature death, enhancing the quality of living standard with development and personal
growth of the community members. My aim of the career is completely reliant on the
construction of effective system and procedures that can address the strategic outcome of
healthcare with better opportunities of prevention, awareness and cure. These ambitions or
objectives for satisfying my overall career and life goal can be accomplished through the
amalgamation of my experiences derived from the participation in social care programs with
the motive of focussing on prevention of the communication diseases rather than only
prioritizing the cure of chronic diseases. In the process of learning about healthcare and
societal awareness, I have developed a strong affinity towards working in the direction of a
qualified health care system. Good health should be considered as the central motive of
individual and community well-being. I realized during the course that prioritizing and
directing efforts towards healthcare can directly impact the economic progress of a region,
derive a healthy population and save more for productive health status. The health status of a
community or region is completely dependent on the capability of offering quality health
services. The far-reaching effect of working for optimum health care system has driven my
interest and passion in working for this sector. The increasing impact and integration of
technological advancements in every sector have projected the benefit of my computer skills
along with the experiences and learning in my future responsibilities. The competency of

computer skills can effectively contribute to the enormous acceleration of the industry. In the
21st century, the advantages of understanding technology and possessing computer skills are
enormous for the purpose of treating patients, diagnosis practices, working under
telemedicine features, medical imaging and most significantly in sharing information
amongst colleagues, practitioners and patients. The application of computer workstation in an
organization has reflected its worth in ensuring the effectiveness of the healthcare system.
Computer skills in these responsibilities can inculcate efficiency and promptness for a query
or concern of the patients.
Clarifying the rationale behind the goal and ambition
My ambition of working in the healthcare industry has been driven by the growing interest
and learning moulded from the educational qualification and experiences gained in the past
and from present professional accountabilities. The rationale behind my ambition, both career
and life, in general, has grown with the interest of helping people and spreading awareness.
The help framed from the system of directly impacting someone’s physical and mental health
has always intrigued my career path. The knowledge derived from the course made me
recognize the effect a person can impose on the overall growth of a country or community.
An effective healthcare system in a region can contribute to its economic growth and can
enhance the efficiency of individuals for better development and productivity. My ambition
was derived with the motive of addressing the concern of partial focus projected on the cure
of chronic diseases rather than equally working towards preventing the communicable
diseases through spreading awareness and educating communities to adopt a healthier
lifestyle. Shifting the conception and focus of the healthcare system was the prime base for
interest and ambition. The rationale behind ambition also marked the passion of making
individuals and groups understand the importance of well-being in their productivity at work.
The minor rationale behind opting for this ambition or goal was to participate in the growing
industry, which is expected to rise exponentially in the year 2020. The goal of contributing

directly in an effective healthcare system can be treated as a win-win situation as helps in the
development of a society and also offers me the career opportunity with enormous growing
capabilities. After recognizing my interest in working for the healthcare system, I started
working upon my skills that can elevate my opportunities in accomplishing my ambition. My
experiences helped me to grow towards the end goal that included the participation in social
and health care BETC level 3, a degree or diploma in the field of social work and presently
pursuing the degree of sociology. In my course of sociology, I have gained the understanding
and knowledge of social policies, social standpoint of people and communities and have
learnt regarding the multi-cultural aspects of providing an efficient healthcare system. My
polishing my skills and knowledge gained from my diploma and sociology degree, I started
working in different sectors that involved pharmacy, nursery and hospitals, in which the
experience of the hospital was the best as it allowed me to gain various practical knowledge
by being the part of the whole health care system. From working in a hospital, I have worked
with patients; I have witnessed the contribution of nurses, talked with the patients about their
expectations and awareness about the healing and prevention process. In the hospital, I have
also received the opportunity of shadowing a social worker, which bridges the gap between
health care system and professionals with the community through spreading awareness of the
availability of services, equipment and programs dedicated towards the well-being of the
society and community members. By shadowing the social worker, I have learnt the process
of identifying individual and community in need for connecting the patients or individuals
with the existing services and healthcare system through the assessment of their requirement
and situation of a support network. These challenges have majorly impacted in my journey,
leading to my ambition.
Moreover, these practices and experiences have practically contributed to my current position
and responsibilities. I am currently in charge of the booking services in NHS, where I am
responsible for managing workload, handling phone bookings and enquiry and client

handling. These responsibilities have developed the opportunity of learning time management
skills, management skills and relationship building skills with clients and other internal key
stakeholders in a healthcare unit or facility, nurse, admin staff, consultant and General
Physician. The environment and collaborative approach in NHS has grown my interest and
have contributed to accomplishing the prime objective of becoming a healthcare professional
and experienced in social care.
Contribution of the programme on accomplishing career aims
The program will determine my potentiality derived from various previous experiences, and
diploma course in social work as well as will pave the path of proceeding towards vast career
opportunities dependent on my ambition. The learning and practices in the program are
elevating the purpose of directing empathy towards social work and healthcare. The program
will grow my current skills and knowledge derived from the participation at different roles of
the healthcare system. The course or program will help in developing the understanding about
causes and determining factors of illness and health, in identifying the reasons in seeking
patient compliance, knowledge about medical aid and practices included in different medical
regimes. The program will help in improving the concept of well-being and health through
sociological researches and studies based on the cultural and social impact of health with the
knowledge about the degree of prevalence of diseases and illness amongst groups and
individuals. In my previous experiences and skills, I have learned about the practical sense of
managing patients’ needs and queries by responding with the medical treatments and
supporting equipment, but this program will build my understanding of identifying the
existence and acceptability rate of the treatments and health care system for the community
members. This program will also contribute in my awareness and knowledge of assessing the
viability of implementing healthcare system that will not only benefit the process and
institution based on the aspects of costs and infrastructure but will also build a long-term
relationship with the patients and society members with an assured network of dependency.

This program will not only build my knowledge about the existent healthcare system but will
also contribute to the systematic study of society and human behaviour. Human behaviour
plays a major role in determining the awareness and acceptance level of the community
members about the prevention of diseases that can harm and project negative consequences
on the whole community. Understanding of human behaviour will help in learning about their
current status of handling and managing illness and health concerns, existence disorders and
healthcare practices for ultimate well-being. Moreover, my existent skills and future
capabilities derived from the program will majorly contribute in accomplishing my career
aims or ambitions as it will help in bridging the gap between social work and healthcare
career opportunities and my amalgamated skills resulting from the diploma degree in social
work, patient handling, computer skills, work experience and sociology course.
