I am writing this to formally express my intent to learn/work (please strike out whichever
is applicable) as a healthcare professional in Canada. In this regard I would like to inform that I
hail from (place) and I have completed my (qualification) from (name of the institution) in ten
year (YEAR).
Canada has been my first choice for professional opportunity, given the high standards
and infrastructure of the Canadian Medicare facility. The universal structure of healthcare, in my
opinion, has entrusted then professional involved in the field with more responsibility, diligence
and expertise, as they are serving the public not only as a vocation, but as part of their social duty
as well. In this regard, I believe that there will always be requirement of more dexterous, aspiring
nurses, who will contribute to the sector in future.
However, as a non-native, English is my first language. Although I would like to assure
you that I have sufficient proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening skill pertaining
to the English language. Previously, I have been working with several organizations where I
mostly had to deal with client assistance.
By and large, I am comfortably able to communicate with the clients and help them in
various procedural matters, several of which required the knowledge of English language. Till
date, I have worked with 4 organizations, namely Work BC Centre (From June 2019), Northern
Health (From June 2017), Axis Farm Resources (From April 2017) and with Salvation Army
(From June 2015).
In Work BC, I was responsible for helping the clients with informing them about
available services and supports related to achieving standards of Labour Market or Community

Attachment through resources and referrals. For this, I had to search the internet and
communicate with the clients. I was also responsible for entering and monitoring relevant
information of clients, which required active English writing skill. Helping the clients with
writing their resumes also required necessary writing, proof-reading, and comprehension skills.
At Axis Family Resources too, I was responsible for supporting vulnerable persons
residing in the specialized community homes. In the process, I was entrusted with the
responsibility of the Program Coordinator, managing the residential programs and giving formal
directions to ensure the goals and objectives of the organization. In this case, an effective
communication skill was essentially required. And to some extent, I can claim that my
communication skill has developed under this particular exposure.
At Northern Health and Salvation Army, I was mostly working as a direct healthcare
professional, where I had to take directions from a senior nurse and carry out clinical assistance
and aid –related duties. Besides, I had to monitor the conditions and development of patients,
duly writing them down and report to the relevant authority. Moreover, sometimes I had to
answer phone calls and mediate with referral sources as well as other external agencies for
parole, welfare and other necessary requirements.
In purview of my responsibilities and job profile, I am certain that my communication
skill will be adequate to perform in my job here in (Name of the place). Nevertheless, under the
right guidance and exposure, I hope to proliferate my comprehension and communication skill to
serve the community better. With this anticipation, I would like to earnestly request you for an
opportunity, so that I can emulate the high standards and values set by the healthcare sector of
your esteemed nation.
