Personal statement
Currently, I am a student enrolled for Bachelors course for dual degree in
Business/Law. The reason behind writing this statement is to appeal to give me an
opportunity to clear all the subjects from this course and not exclude me. I would like to draw
attention towards my constant poor performance and the major reasons behind it. It started in
the year 2016 when I met with an accident while travelling with my mother and sister. I was
severely injured and suffered a bad whip lash, back pain, shoulder and stomach pain with
extreme neck pain. Moreover, this proved to be changing event in my life as I am still
struggling with it and has constant effects on my well-being. It not only affected me
physically as I have been in consistent pain but also led to psychological side-effects as it has
led to great difficulty in competing my daily chores.
Furthermore, this has impacted adversely on my studies which is the major reason of
me failing my units' subjects. I was not able to concentrate and lost my purpose of life with
confidence due to ill effects of the medication. I have been always a sincere and dedicated
student. My passion drew me to this course and I always wanted to excel to fulfil my duties
with proper understanding of the concepts. However, I have become weak and in pain
throughout the day which stop me doing my UNI studies in proper and systematic order.
After this accident, I am constantly on medication which is assisting me to control my pain
but has impacted my concentration levels adversely. The whip lash had crushed my physical
attributes badly and also I lost my confidence since I am not able to sit for more than 30
minutes.
In regard to the above, my major focus was to bring back my lost confidence and thus,
I hired a personal trainer in a 24 hours gym. Alongside, I am taking classes with a life-goals
instructor to help me priorities my life choices. Since there were times when I couldn’t leave
my bed because of massive headaches, this crushed my hopes as I had no choice but to take
proper rest to recover in better modes. With the help of my instructors, I am feeling better but
this process will take time as the overall impact has gigantic effects on my life. I was feeling
paralyzed throughout this duration as my future was looking dark. I also have legal issues to
deal with and a few appointments to attend.
Herein, I had problems in staying up to study throughout the entire day. Thus, I never
submitted my assignments on time and had to lie down immediately after sitting for few
minutes. Lastly, I stepped down from full-time position to a casual position to reduce my

work duties and to concentrate on my studies with more dedication to complete my
undergraduate course with better grades. Henceforth, I would like to request to reconsider my
health conditions and give me another opportunity to complete my units properly.
Additionally, I ensure that I am going to put my best efforts to fulfill the expectations of my
family and your university's grading system in proficient manner. I am feeling hopeful with
my admission in a gym and taking continuous guidelines from the life-goals instructor and
thus would like this chance through this statement to re-consider my challenging situation
and provide me with another chance to finish my studies.
