Career aspirations
I have been working as a Registered Nurse and an Emergency Nurse for eight years, and
I want to be a great trauma nurse and obtain a management role in the future. My experience in
the Emergency nursing field has been really fulfilling. I would like to build my career on the
same since I am totally convinced that it is what I find satisfaction in. I am really passionate
about helping people. I believe that a higher position in Emergency nursing will afford me a
greater opportunity to meet my ambitions. Emergency nursing is a noble career that requires a lot
of dedication which has really grown within me over the years. Even though many people find it
as a rather demanding career, I feel that the satisfaction that comes with serving humanity is
worth the struggle. I have in so many situations disrupted my schedule just to attend to
emergency cases. Certainly, I do not feel overburnened by this since I understand it is a path that
I will ultimately have to follow. I usually belive that any failure to attend to my job will cost me
my happiness for days. Emergency nursing was a career that I thought extensively over before
pursuing. It took many years to grow my passion for emergency nursing. The happenings in my
surroundings have shaped my career path significantly.
I started taking an interest in care projects in my early school days. I was very much
interested in the disciplines that taught compassion, empathy and sympathy. My best days at
school were when we would engage in care-related activities. I participated so actively that my
teachers started taking note of me. They encouraged me to build on it, which I did passionately.
At my high school studies, I pursued advanced biology classes. I believe that my high school
education was so critical in shaping my interest in healthcare. I took my biology classes so
seriously, such that at times, I even went out of my way to learn various skills. I joined the
school emergency care club while I was still a freshman at the high school. This was untypical

majorly because the freshmen were viewed as an undecided lot. I was sure that healthcare was
my career path and I had previously been encouraged to start taking the necessary steps as early
as I would. I participated in the school gaming occasions almost always offering first aid to
players.
Immediately after my undergraduate studies, I enrolled for a post-graduate in Critical
Care Nursing-Emergency Nursing, which has provided me with a foundation for advanced
practice in emergency nursing. While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I volunteered in
various organizations mainly dealing with community care. I was actively involved in visiting
care homes for both children and the aged. I have cared for children with special needs for as
long as I can remember in my college days. I have severally volunteered to work at homeless
shelters. I have had countless professional and personal relationships with the needy. My
undying love to help people has been my pillar all this time. My life is always situated amongst
people living in hardships especially those caused by emergency situations. I have always lived
among traumatized people since my childhood. My main motivating factor is eradicating the
factors that lead to suffering as I have a long-term relationship with suffering. I achieved the
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). I am currently undertaking my Advanced Life support
(ALS). My passion for helping people grow day by day. I desire to achieve more and greater
qualifications in order to make my work more efficient. I want to do more for societies.
I have been thinking of acquiring a Master's degree in Emergency Nursing for a very long
time. When I learned that you are offering scholarships, I was convinced that it was a perfect
opportunity to pursue my dream. I believe that obtaining a Master's degree in my professional
field will be an ideal step towards enhancing my capabilities. With a Master’s degree, I believe
that I can easily maneuver to the leadership systems which is my ultimate goal. I believe that the

experience I have gained in the field, coupled with the master's degree, will be adequate for me
to deal with more challenging tasks. I would like to play a role in the high management of
Emergency care. I have developed a wide range of knowledge and skills so far which I believe
would have a great impact on the leadership of emergency care units. Despite the emergency
units having achieved many successes in the past years, I tend to believe that the manner in
which emergency cases are handled is still a bit wanting. The handling of emergency victims has
always been almost satisfactory if not entirely satisfactory in all cases. However, I believe that
the treatment of the victim alone is not adequate. Their immediate families suffer some level of
vulnerability, which ought to be addressed too. Anytime a family has any of its members
suffering; it becomes so susceptible to traumatic experiences as well. I believe that it is the
responsibility of the emergency caregivers to walk with the family throughout the journey for
overall healing. Safe admission of a patient and discharge is only one among the benefits a
family should get from an emergency care unit, according to me. Putting the immediate family
under some care during the admission and after the discharge is far-reaching. The relatives of
emergency victims suffer for long periods. The situation gets worse if their kin does not make
out of the emergency care unit. Close family members have been reported to lead miserable lives
following the death of their loved ones from an emergency situation.
Family care is my main area of interest. Societies incur huge losses due to traumatic
experiences. The families of the affected individuals, in most cases, do not recover fully. Failure
to fully recover or a slow-paced recovery processes cost the involved societies and individuals a
fortune. The productivity of the society goes down following the effects of emergency cases. My
main objective is to offer fellow professionals a different perspective on the issue of dealing with

emergency cases. I believe that emergencies can only be said to have been fully addressed if no
one is left suffering.
What personal qualities do you have that make you suited to this profession
Enthusiasm, empathy, care, and feeling motivated all the time are my personal qualities,
which I believe make me ideal for the Emergency Nursing profession. Pursuing a career in the
healthcare sector is very demanding compared to careers in other sectors. High educational
qualifications are hardly enough for a successful career in healthcare. Success in healthcare
professions is measured based on the number of lives one has created an impact on. Satisfaction
is gained from the ability to help people as opposed to complete given tasks successfully. As a
result, anyone pursuing a career in healthcare must possess humane qualities. One should seek to
maintain high levels of professionalism while still maintaining reputable interpersonal
relationships with both victims and their families.
A career in the healthcare sector is a passion for me. I strongly believe in the supposition
that human beings are slaves to their passions. I entered the career simply because it is what I
was destined for. Nursing is a profession that I really enjoy and find it extremely rewarding. I am
simply living my dream. Living in emergency prone environments gave me relevant insights that
have always acted as my driving force in my practice. My past experiences motivate me to work
harder to help more people and societies. I have learned to empathize with my patients over time.
Although I have not been a direct victim of any emergency, I have witnessed how such cases
reap people their happiness. I may not claim to know how exactly it feels but I can easily relate
with patients.
I always treat each case separately as people tend to be so different. This has been so
helpful in especially in erasing any possible judgments that I could place on victims of trauma. I

listen so carefully to all my patients. I give them time to express themselves without judging any
of their experiences. I allow them to choose a treatment method from the various choices
available if they are in a position to do so. If not, I engage close family members. In any case, I
ensure that the available options are well-explained to avoid any possible misunderstandings or
misinformation. Throughout my practice, I have established and maintained satisfactory
relationships with the patients and their families. This has been so helpful, especially in
triggering the patients to open up to me and explain their worst fears from their situations. I
always rest assured that anyone who comes my way walks out healthy and satisfied. When
available, I hold consultative meetings with needy people from various societies. These meetings
have profound effects and create healthier and happier communities. Creating better and healthy
societies is the overriding principle in all that I get involved in.
I am a good team worker and enjoy working with and among people. Since my school
days, I have gained great interpersonal skills. I am an excellent team builder and believe that
groups are ideal constructions in any institution for better results. Groups work more efficiently
than individuals. When in a group, it is always possible to conduct checks on fellow members
constantly. Inefficiency will, therefore, be noticed at the early stages and addressed. Teamwork
in the Emergency Nursing is a wide concept that not only involves working with fellow
workmates but also partnering with key stakeholders in the society as well as at the government
level. Any efficient caregiver must establish a relationship with patients and their families. The
cooperation among all the key parties hastens the healing process and makes work easier for the
caregiver. Uncooperative family members are likely to hinder the process of healing through

Quite often, I am faced with challenging behavior, especially from patients and their
families. Although at first, I used to be overwhelmed by such behavior, with the progression of
my career, I have learned to handle such cases without causing any misunderstanding. I exercise
high levels of restraint in my speech and I believe that this quality saves my professionalism a
great deal. I do not allow myself to get easily offended as I believe temper is a big hindrance to
caregiving. I always do my best to restore health even on the occasions where I know that my
efforts are not appreciated. When faced with challenging situations, I try to be emotionally stable
as possible. Traumatic situations are a popular trend especially in emergency nursing practice. I
have learned always to let things pass without letting them get personal, as this could have
serious impacts on my work. However, this does not mean that emergency nurses always
experience gloomy and doomy days. There is a lot of satisfaction that comes with nursing which
shields all the bad experiences. Watching patients recover and families reunite with their loved
ones is a fulfilling experience. I have always managed to strike a balance at all times between
good and unrewarding situations.
In my eight years of practice, I have never, on any occasion, questioned my integrity. I
have always maintained high levels of ethics, accountability, honesty, and trustworthiness.
People who do not practice integrity at low levels are unlikely to practice it even at high levels.
Having maintained integrity in my current position, I am sure that I am capable of replicating the
same in my higher levels, especially when I start performing leadership roles. Nurses have
maintained high levels of professional ethics all over the world and this ought not to be violated
even I the far future. Patients’ health should come first in the life of any case. Personal interests

must be suspended to serve those of the patients as nursing is a calling. Prioritizing is also very
crucial in the Emergency Nursing profession. Some medical situations require immediate
attention than others. As a result, a nurse must be very excellent at prioritizing.
What would be the impact on you if you were to receive this scholarship
At the most basic level, the scholarship will enable me to achieve my educational and
professional goals. I have always worked so hard to finance my previous educational
qualifications. When I was at my undergraduate level, I spend so many sleepless nights working
hard to save for my education. It has been almost equally the same with financing my later
educational achievements. At my current work position, I can hardly afford to finance a master’s
degree in Emergency Nursing. With the always escalating and exorbitant costs of education, my
job is not enough to fund my higher degree. While I could push myself further and do some side
hustles to finance my degree, I feel that I should focus more on my studies. If I find a part-time
job, I will be less-efficient in my studies and I might not ultimately acquire what I want. The
scholarship will be so helpful in lowering the costs for tuition and will also help me focus more
on my studies. I believe that this way I will be able to learn better and achieve higher
qualifications. It will also help me to embark on a well-rounded college experience. I will do
more research and help even more societies during my studies. I am purposing to help the rural
communities even more during my study as I still feel that they are marginalized on health
matters. Doctors and nurses are either very limited in rural areas or even non-existent. During my
study, I intend to help in dealing with health frustrations in rural communities, as I believe it is
the only way that I can payback for the scholarship is awarded.
Healthcare is among the most debated topics worldwide. The main focus has always been
on how to provide affordable healthcare to all citizens regardless of their social status. While I

societies have become prone to emergencies and chronic illnesses, I believe that the provision of
meaningful healthcare could be far-reaching in the creation of healthy societies. I believe that
many nations have achieved some level of success in championing for universal healthcare. If I
receive this scholarship, I will be in a good position to voice out my opinion that meaningful
healthcare could be a solution to the debates surrounding healthcare. I believe the scholarship
will earn me a perfect opportunity to meet and interact with healthcare policymakers who are key
in implementing healthcare policies. Similarly, acquiring a master’s degree in Emergency
nursing will place me at a higher professional-grade, whereby I can easily get into leadership

When I decided to become a nurse, I was sure that I wanted to help people and societies
to lead happier and healthier lives. I have set goals in the past, some of which I have already

live. I chose to become a nurse because I had seen people suffer. I have tried as much as I can to
help under the capacity that I have. However, I have some unmet goals. I need to do greater
things. I desire to make greater impacts. I believe that the master’s degree will be my stepping
stone in my path towards greatness, which will aid me in serving better. The degree will broaden

A master’s degree will allow me to pursue specialized skills in my career path. I would
like to be a specialist in trauma. Although I will have numerous career choices with an MSN, I
would love to deal with people experiencing traumatic experiences. There are currently a few
specialists who can deal with trauma compared to the escalating numbers of traumatic cases.
Death cases related to trauma have been on the rise and ought to be put to a stop. This can only
be achieved by allowing patients and families to transition smoothly from traumatic experiences
and not rushing the process. Therapeutic treatments should be conducted for as long as the
patient needs them, or the specialist deems them necessary. Apart from dealing with traumatic

reach a certain level of life not necessarily to impress others or go up the social ladder but just to

Although financial compensation is not my ultimate goal, we all like seeing people appreciate
our efforts. When we work hard, we expect to get a satisfactory pay and it acts as a motivation

unlock doors of opportunities for me but also the current and future generations.
