PERSONAL STATEMENT
Nursing is a rewarding career. From the very childhood, I had always aspired to be in
nursing profession. I always wanted to help people in a way which will help them to develop the
quality of their lives. In the modern world, where selfishness rules, I want to extend my hands to
those people who fall back from the race due to their ill health physically and mentally. I want to
help the humanity by providing the support to most of the people who are disadvantaged form
leading safe and healthy lives. Adult nursing is one of the most important professions now as
with the help of the nurses, most of the adults can overcome both short term as well as long term
physical health conditions and can dream to live a better life.
My aim is building a trusting relationship with my patients so that they can rely on me. I
should be capable of building a therapeutic relationship with them where out interaction would
not be solely based in the treatment but on the overall good being of the patient. I should make
sure that my patients can rely on me and look upon me as their companion in the journey of their
recovery. I have to take into account many important factors and juggle my properties in a way
which would have the best possible outcomes.
I have worked as a social carer and also as domiciliary workers in my previous
placements. I have helped many weak and fragile person in their homes providing them support
as well as companionship in making their lives beautiful and helped them to develop strategies
that made their lives easier. From these experiences, I have learnt to be more patient in my
approach and developed good communication skills which made my clients admire and adore me
more. I had learnt to control my own frustrations and work for the greater good of humanity. I
learnt to manage my properties and also began multitasking which helped me to meet all the
requirements of my patients properly.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have completed my expended diplomas in health and social care and have been
appointed as part time nurses and carers in different healthcare institutions and community care
centers. However, my experience in all these have helped me to understand my passion in adult
learning and my service and dedication has helped me to connect with adults in a wonderful way.
I have been able to understand their pain, stress and mental health properly making them admire
me. My experience in both mental health nursing and in general nursing has been quite satisfying
and I want to pursue the profession in my coming phase of life.
However, there have been certain challenges in the profession. Mental health nursing is
quite time consuming and energy draining as well but the happiness I got while serving them
helped me overcome my stress. Moreover, often patients got aggressive and physically hurt me
but with effective teamwork I leant to handle them also. Often the major challenge I faced was
ethical dilemma in various perspectives but the knowledge I gathered in my diploma courses and
with my critical analyzing power I leant to handle them efficiently.
All these had helped me to make up my mind to take the profession of adult nursing.
