British culture and society
British culture and society is culture of UK and is rooted in the country's history. The
culture of Britain includes British cuisine, art and literature, theatre and music, sports and leisure
and different religion (Strauss, and Becker, 2017).
This essay will lay emphasis on relationship between personality and group formation.
For this the essay will discuss about personality test and also undertake a personality test which
will reflect characteristic and traits of a person (Chiu, Owens and Tesluk, 2016). Different
stages of group formation will also be explained in this essay. The impact of personality type on
group formation will be elaborated.
Personality test
A personality test is an assessment of human personality through a method. Personality
traits of a human which includes morals, motivation, ideologies, motivation and principles for
driving them and plays an important role in their performance (Khabibullina, Fakhrutdinova,
and Diuanova, 2017). The personality test are designed for measurement of traits which
identifies their type of personality.
I have done a personality test from which my personality is identified as a Protagonist. I am type
of person who is very genuine and care for other people. Also, my personality reflects that
leading charge makes me happier and keeps motivating me. I am a passionate altruist person. I
like to improve work of others and thus provide guidelines to other people. This makes me feel
pride and pleasure.

Summary of test result
As per the test, my tolerance capabilities are my strength. I can listen to others opinion ans can
make contradiction (Alexandr, Sergij, and Olena, 2016). Reliability is my other strength. I have
quality of being charm and popular where I enter and I know to capture attention of audience.
Also, being an altruist I generally bring people together so that they can do good deeds.
According to my personality I am a natural leader and I can perform leadership roles effectively.
I am over idealistic and this is my greatest weakness and being a selfless person I can not
able to help other people. Although my personality also reflects that I am too sensitive and I am
not able to fix my problems easily. I am a good leader by not a good decision maker because I
find difficulty in decisions and have to face struggle while making tough decisions.
The stages of group formation
According to the theory of Tuckman, there are stages of group formation is identified. In
this theory, group is formulated with stages of forming, storming, norming, performing and
adjourning (Karterud, 2015).
The first stage of group formation is forming. In this stage, the members of group come
together and interact with each other (Alexandr, Sergij, and Olena, 2016). The members are

anxious about their task and apply various approaches to accomplish it. Individuals avoid
controversy and conflicts in their work place while working and performing tasks.
After accompanying forming stage, the second stage will execute which is storming. On
this stage, dominant members come forward and conflict on this stage also rises because of the
increase in competition. Also, leadership, strategies, rules, responsibility, evaluation, authority,
reward system, etc issues rises at this stage (De Dreu, Kret, and Sauter, 2016).
After completion of storming, stage of norming will begin. Roles, authority and
responsibility of each member were cleared on this stage on earlier stage. On norming stage,
team members start settle in a group (Chiu, Owens and Tesluk, 2016). The members work
cohesively for achievement of target and appreciate skills and experience of each member of the
group.
Then comes stage of performing where every team member gets work synergy and work
to accomplish goal of organisation. On this stage, there is independence and flexibility to team
members. Also, the members know each other well and handle them individually (Beck, Davis,
and Freeman, eds., 2015). The team members on this stage is people oriented as well as task
oriented and can perform efficiently.
On the last stage of group formation that is adjourning the groups are terminated and the
members are separated from each other (Alexandr, Sergij, and Olena, 2016). The purpose of
group formation is satisfied until this stage.
The personality type impacts a lot while formulating a group. Personality trait of group
member with anxious or curious in nature highlighted in stage of forming. They always try to ask
about their roles, responsibilities, task they need to accomplish, etc (Chiu, Owens and Tesluk,
2016). Also, the quality of tolerance will be reflected on this stage because group members like
to avoid conflicts on this stage. After that members holding trait of leadership quality come
forward on the stage of storming. Also, short tempered members will be highlighted on this stage
of group formation by conflicts in work place (De Dreu, Kret, and Sauter, 2016). Every group
consist of different personality of members within the group. Therefore, personality traits differ
from member to member. The members of group undertakes various activities together for
accomplishing the task (Atanassov and Savov, 2016). The personality of being a leader come
forward just after formation of group. The power of dominance always affect other group
members and their working. Also, the motivator personality in every group attract many

members of the group and enhance their work with proper motivation. The conflicts in team
working is very common (Bal, Deol, and Singh, 2018). In this, the trait of member who are not
very flexible have several issues which affects their working as well as group work by delay in
work process.
This essay was all about relationship between group formation and personality. This
essay reflects personality type which is Protagonist. Also, there traits of strength as well as
weakness were mentioned in this essay. Then comes different stages of group where Tuckman
theory was adopted to explain different stages adopted by a group to formulate which includes
forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. At last, personality impacts on group
formation were discussed.
