The local government area that is being studied in this particular assignment is the
government of the city of Perth (Perth.wa.gov.au, 2018). The country can be dated back to
the year 1829. Even the aboriginal people have lived in the area for thousands of years. Perth
is an evolving city and it has been recently turned into a vibrant capital city. The people
living in the city have a great lifestyle with greater geographical location and attractive
opportunities. The city comprises of all other parts of suburbs and all the suburbs are in close
proximity with the central city area. The city has access for all including the people who are
disabled. The transportation in the city is quite smooth. One can go around in the city with
ease and comfort. One can have free transit zone and it does not cost anything more to the
persons staying there. The easiest way to travel in the city is to cycle and travel in all parts of
the city. It has a well-designed network of cycle and the dual-use paths within the suburbs of
the city that connects the city to the wider metropolitan areas. The city is clean and it has
public toilets everywhere and it has wifi zones everywhere. It is a good shopping destination
where the tourists can find all type of brands under one single roof. The city is an attractive
tourist spot. Even the foods of the city is a good one. The city has different options of food
and it has good restaurants everywhere which consist of quality food. The city has a good
collection of art and culture. The art collection of the city comprises of the antique collection
of art that are relevant to Perth. The city of Perth’s mural projects deliver new and engaging,
site specific works which enliven and enhance public space. The city designs the strategic
community plan that states the importance for the city to celebrate the heritage, identity and
the cultural narrative (Lee et al., 2017). The city supports the cultural activities that attracts
many visitors and tourists. The city has planned to improve the international business
relations that includes the commitment of the city to build and foster the international
relations that will have cultural as well as the commercial benefits. This is the reason it has
become a preferred destination for the international tourists and the visitors. It has become a
fast developing nation and liked by maximum amount of tourists. The city has parks and
gardens and they have other facilities that will lead to a healthy lifestyle of people (Jones &
Newsome, 2015).
Discussion
Perth city is a melting pot of cultural and the inner-city experiences. The city has a
perfect combination of the historic and the modern architecture (Stasiuk & Hibberd, 2017).

The city is proud of the heritage and the history it had. The most attractive things of the city
is the green parks and the small bars, the lively laneways and the street cafes that gives a
feeling of urban area. The city has many entertainment facilities that is enough to attract the
tourists from the outside world. The city has good retail options and it has good means of
entertainment. In the center of the city there is the pedestrian friendly Hay and Murray Street
malls where the city workers and the retail therapists gather to snap up the latest high street
bargains. There are many restaurants and cafés that are surrounded by the scenic waterways.
One of the attractive place of the city is Northbridge. It is situated in the north of the Perth
railway station and it is known as an urban cultural hub that has strong arts and creative
scene. The city has many options of eating and drinking. It continues to explode the new bars,
cafes and restaurants. It has many award-winning restaurants with top chefs. The city is
located in Australia and therefore it has the opportunity to experience the sunny weather.
There are many rooftop bars and eateries that attract the visitors. The city has many shopping
destinations. It has innumerable shops of designer boutiques, it has departmental stores, the
exclusive household things, the shops that will fulfill the choice of sports and adventure
lovers, the electronic goods and more. The tourists will be able to enjoy shopping with leafy
malls, entertaining buskers, events in and around Forrest Place and plenty of sunshine
(Janulis, 2017).
There are many places that are marked as attractive places to visit. One of them are
Karla Yarning that says the stories of the aboriginal cultures and the heritage in the city of
Perth. It has self-guided trials that are a new fun way to experience the history and culture of
the city. It is surrounded with attractions to suit all the ages (Newsome et al., 2016). It has
many parks and gardens that adds to the scenic beauty of the place. Visitors and residents
often describe the city of Perth as a parkland oasis. There are few cities in the cities which
mix the commerce and retail with beautifully crafted green open space combining heritage,
the water features and the public arts. This is considered to be the major asset and it plays a
central role in the strategies of planning the cities. There are some parks and gardens that can
be booked for some special events and wedding ceremonies. There are some remarkable
locations like the Corner of Barrack Street and St George’s Terrace. The Stirling Gardens are
one of the most beautiful oldest public garden. This was named after the Governor James
Stirling, which was originally used as an acclimatization garden where many of the mature
specimens were raised from seed. There were many fruits that were grown in that park. It was
later as a botanical garden. The garden offers the facilities like seating, drinking fountains.

There are many artworks like the statue of kangaroo, the statue of gumnut babies, the
harmony of minerals etc (Moniruzzaman, Olaru & Biermann, 2017). There is another
attractive garden known as supreme court gardens. It is located on the corner of the Riverside
Drive between Governors Avenue and Barrack Street. Throughout the year there are many
events that occur in the garden. The park also has public toilets inside it. The other attractive
park is the Langley Park. The park is bounded by Riverside Drive, Victoria Avenue, Terrace
Road and Plain Street. The park was created by land reclamation between the year 1921 and
1935.. The other most attractive place is the Queens Garden (Ryan, 2016). The water lily-
filled lakes are the main features of the park. It has a huge display of flowers, it has well
maintained lawns and a large variety of trees and shrubs (Iwanicki, Dłużewska & Kay, 2016).
The city is a huge host of events and other cultural programs. The city hosts many
cultural evenings and many exhibitions throughout the year. The attractive sports arena that is
included within the city is the Perth Arena and the Western Australian Cricket Ground. The
regular events conducted in the city are the Australian Day Skyworks, Eat Drink Perth,
Winters Arts Season, Twilight Hawkers Market and a program of Christmas events (Stratton,
2016). While the tourists comes to visit the city the most important thing they will be able to
enjoy is the environment and sustainability factor. The city has a well-defined urban forest
plan (Norrish, Sanders & Dowling, 2014). It is a plan that includes the collection of the green
trees and the green spaces. This includes the promotion of other vegetation on the public as
well as the private land. It provides the social and the environmental benefit that enrich the
quality of the peoples who dwell in the urban area (Mau & Tedesco, 2015). The plan includes
the protection of the existing trees, increasing the level of canopy cover that is provided in the
public arena. The city has an interesting activity for the visitors. This activity is called the
activity of i-walk. This is the activity of audio trails where the visitors can experience of
history and culture of the city. This is one of the most attractive source of entertainment for
the tourists. They are the first free audio tours who are available for the download that focus
on the city of Perth. The travelers are provided with the audio tracks that contains the
information related to culture and heritage of the city. It contains the stories of the significant
landmarks in Perth and it also provide directions between the locations (Hendrigan &

tourists. The city has an organized and structural plan for the tourists. The local government
has taken the initiative to make the city free from pollution and to make it green. The city has
been promoted by the government. The local government has come up plans like bringing out
plans to decrease the rate of demolition of the buildings and all the soil retention systems are
professionally designed (Taylor et al., 2015). The drainage and the dewatering system has
been planned properly. The local government of the city of perth has made efforts to make
the city clean and free from pollution. The government has constructed many parks and other
places of amusement for the tourists and visitors. The parks have been constructed which has
all the additional facilities. The shopping destinations has been made attractive for the
tourists. The city has a good system of wi-fi connection in almost all parts (Van Den
Nouwelant et al., 2016). The most important function performed by the government is the
planning for the future development. This include the urban planning, the future development
within the Hamilton Precinct. The city has been planned to be kept as a healthy and happy
community for those who dwell in the city and those who comes to visit in the city. The
system of transportation has also been developed within the city. The transportation has
remained organized and they are organized in such a way that they are safe for the public.
The government promotes the cultural heritage of the city and it promotes the cultural
programs that are held in the city (Donald & Gammack, 2016). The government had a major
role in safeguarding the heritage and the culture of the city. The political and the
environmental factors are in favor of the visitors and they are attractive enough for the people
who dwell there as well as the tourists who visits the region.
