INTRODUCTION
This assignment has studied whether social enterprise in the Hammersmith should
receive fund through government to increase the level of health care and decrease night crimes.
This assignment has included PEST analysis which has showed this fund is necessary for a social
enterprise or not. Hammersmith United Charity is chosen as social enterprise. It completely
works in social welfare, and provides health and social care services, especially in Hammersmith
and Fulham area. All factors which affect this social enterprise has been mentioned below. Some
major recommendations also have included in this report for this charity organization.
Hammersmith and Fulham background
According to ONS, population of Hammersmith was 182,433 in 2011. Then 2011 to 2018
this borough's population has increased by 1.4%. In 2018, Hammersmith's population was
185,004. In this situation, 40% of this population are 75+ aged people, 24% are comes from 56
to 74 age group, 17% are 55 to 64, and rest 14% are related to 16 to 24 age group. Female's
population ratio is currently more than males ratio, because 51% are females and 49% are males
(Office for National Statistics, 2020). On the other side when we go with ethnicity,
31.9% residents has belonged to group of ethnic in 2001. On that time 5.8% Black African, 4%
Asian, 3.9% Black Caribbean and 5.5% Mixed population was major minorities. On the basis of
national identity 70.7% population of borough has accepted that they have British identity.
Mainly English, Scottish, Britain, Welsh and Northern Irish people are comes under British
Identity. Three professional foot clubs such as Fulham, Queen Park Rangers and Chelsea make
borough unique place in London (Frue, 2017). Greater London made by 32 local authorities each
governed by London borough council that is head by Hammersmith in west and Fulham is south.
Fulham saw urbanization and industrialization thus a large development was done by innovating
transportation and creating many shopping centre to attract people. Borough is among fourth
expensive residential properties in United Kingdom along with Chelsea and Kensington.

Social enterprise is those that operates their function to provide social benefits to people
not for earning profit thus their main objectives is to serve people. Hammersmith United
Charities is a social enterprise that operates its function in Hammersmith and Fulham to render
social services to people living in the society. It is established 400 years before in 8 wards of
Hammersmith and Fulham to handle deprivation, disadvantages, situation of poverty in the

society (Dyson and Whitten, Swansea University, 2018). CCG (Clinical Commission Groups)
and ONS (Office for National Statistics) are too plays great role to this organization. Reason is,
CCG helps to this social enterprise in its health and social care activities. On the other side, ONS
is providing needed statistics data which helpful in analysing people's background within
borough. With statistics of ONS, this enterprise is able to support those people which are really
needed a social support. There is CCG is a national health service (NHS) organization which set-
up by Health and Social care act 2012 (Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), 2020)
Company helps local people by enhancing their talent, skill and strengthen relationship across
diverse communities. Its aim is to provide shelter to people and beautiful environment so that
they can live comfortably in Hammersmith and Fulham. It organizes various program to raise
fund through different sources like; local government, local businesses etc. Currently it is also
started working for reducing night crimes within respective borough. It deals with lost children
cases as well, and always trying to provide 24*7 help support to night crime victims. In short,
maintain a happy and healthy environment within borough is main objective of this social
enterprise.
PEST ANLYSIS
Pest analysis helps company in forming various strategies that are necessary for
achievement of organization goals and gaining competitive advantages in the market. Various
factors of environment impact adversely on functioning of business such as political situation,
economic condition, social behaviour of people and recent technology. Company in order to
expand its market share and profitability has to considered all such factor while operating its
function in the industry (Stockdale, 2019). It also protects company from various threats and
helps in gaining opportunity that are available in market to increases its profitability and sales.
Thus, pestle analysis of Hammersmith and Fulham helps Hammersmith United Charities
company to formulate its strategies for establishing its businesses in the market.

enterprise can't expand its services in
new areas.

Political factors plays great role to social enterprise called Hammersmith united charities
in Hammersmith and Fulham borough. Local government provides different free facilities to this
enterprise in its daily operations. For example; government has not imposed any taxation on this
enterprise, which is very good thing for this. Hammersmith and Fulham council is planning to
Child poverty strategy in order to remove poverty and high um-employment rate thus
encouraging social enterprise to grow and expand in borough. It is completely works for public
or social welfare; that's why political factors are supportive to this charity enterprise. There are

local politicians always provides additional help to those organizations which want to do
something productive for local people. With support of these factors, this social enterprise can
easily expand its current operations in different new areas (Azis and Sharif, 2019). It is not
working for earning huge profit like businesses, because its main aim is to maintain happy and
healthy environment in society. That's why local government is supporting to daily operations of
charity enterprise. An government authority called CCG (Clinical commissioning group) is plays
very supporting role for this enterprise, because it helps in daily health care operations of
enterprise. Many times it provides free ambulance facility to this Hammersmith united charity.

analyse different data which provided by ONS (Office for National Statistics). Data analysis is
important task to this enterprise, because it identifies people identities through data analysis. In

providing employment opportunity to people that are above age 35+ and to people that have
mental health. Thus, council of borough is making effort to encourage more and more social
enterprise to start its operation for development of society. In this case, if this social enterprise
wants some fund for improving its services, then it'll easily fulfil its need related to fund. In this
economy, this enterprise can easily find various finding sources for fulfilling its financial needs

economy get unstable. Suppose, currently economic conditions of this country is running on
progressive path. Means UK's GDP has grown by 1.4% in 2019, so this factor can influence
enterprise positively (Reid and et.al., 2018). This social enterprise is also contributing in UK's
economy, because currently it provides great employment opportunities to local people. On the
other side, if in the future economic conditions of this country face recession, then this economic
conditions will impact social enterprise negatively. An enterprise can't run its operations on
progressive path, if it runs operations in unstable economy.

because most people in this area are completely literate. They fully understand the value of a

technological factors of this area. All technological gadgets and equipment which an enterprise
needs in its daily operations are easily available in Hammersmith and Fulham area. Suppose,
enterprise need a high-tech computer to manage its all financial statement. In this case, it can
easily fulfil its this technological need (Frue, 2019). Currently this social enterprise has
opportunity to increase their performance with the support of these factors. There are social
media is also a big part of technology, so enterprise can easily promote their operations through
social media. Through technological factors, this social enterprise is able to improve its health
and care services as well. For example; currently it provides modern ambulance facility to
people, it provides new electric chair to old people, etc.
Implementation of technology is something challenging task for those organizations
which generates low revenue. Social enterprise by using innovative technology is able to reduce
its cost and bring economic of scale there by satisfy needs of large number of customers. It is
challenging for social venture or enterprise as well, because a social enterprise always capable to
generate less fund than large organizations. But in case of Hammersmith united charity,
implementation of technology is not much challenging task for this enterprise (Kenton, 2020).
Reason is, each year it generates huge fund through charity and donation, so enterprise currently
able to afford technology which it wants to use in their daily operations. This high-tech

It can be concluded that factors which includes in PEST analysis are really affecting
social enterprise called Hammersmith united charities. Most factors plays positive role for this
enterprise. Social enterprise can easily improve it current performance with support of these
factors. Social and culture factors are specially too much favourable for this enterprise, because
local people are too happy with operations of this enterprise. They provide specific fund to
Hammersmith united charities as a charity. This social enterprise enables to expand their services
in different new areas of United Kingdom. Top-level management of this enterprise should use
some latest technological gadgets and tools in their daily operations to complete each task on
time.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Political factor
 Company can easily expand its business and serve people of society as government
support to functioning of Hammersmith united charities. As it is social enterprise no tax
to be paid by company as its main objectives is to serve people so it can use its profit for

and success of Hammersmith united charities. Government can also provide various fund
to social enterprise for effectively running of its business for social development of
people and society.
Economical
 It is recommendations to Hammersmith and Fulham that it can promote growth and
entrance of new enterprise in the society by less interfering activities of company.
 Secondly Hammersmith united charities by generating lot of employment helps in
economic development of Hammersmith and Fulham (Aithal, 2017). As UK is facing
situation of recession due to Brexit which result in high employment rate so social
enterprise by providing social services is able to uplift standard of people living in the
society.
