INTRODUCTION
Pestle analysis is referred as one of most critical tool which allows businesses to have
understanding about the environmental values. In order to have better learning about such
aspects the Marks and Spencer is being considered as organisation. By having an effective
consideration of factors like political, economic, social, technological, legal and environment the
company can have better designing of strategies. With an application of diverse norms in terms
of pestle the issues in regard to work practice can also be identified. It is necessary for
management to have findings and employ changes in order to meet the needs.
Pestle of Sainsbury
Political: It has been noticed that political values has great impact on the operations of
Marks and Spencer so management need to evaluate such values in desired manner. Any kind of
changes in political values like government relation with other nations will also affect the
organisational performance (Gondwe, 2014). For example, government is not having impressive
relation with Asian nations then it might be possible that business firm may face issues in regard
to expansion when it is concerned with Asian nations. Political pressure also need to be referred
properly for better sustainability.
Economic: UK economic condition is not stable which creates an issue for the
organisation. It is necessary for management of Marks and Spencer to have changes in economic
values so that key norms can be accomplished. It has been witnessed that if nation is having
inflation issues then management need to have decrease in pricing of products and services so
that customers can afford the same (Abbott, 2015). If such changes are not being taken then issue
in terms of sales will be faced because people prefer low pricing in inflation situation.
Social: Changes in products and services also need to be according to social needs in
order to meet objective. If customer is demanding low fat food products then management need
to focus on such value. If company will not have changes in product line according to needs then
issues might be faced in terms of sustainability and customer base.
Technological: Company like Marks and Spencer also need to have changes in
technological values. If new technology of barcode has been introduced in the market then it is
necessary for Marks and Spencer to implement the same by increasing the investment level so
that better opportunities can be created (Shaw, 2015).

Legal: Management must consider legal values properly. For example, government has
decided to advance the key norms in regard to safety at workplace. It means management need to
bring changes according. If such norms are not properly measured then it will create a legal issue
for Sainsbury.
Environmental: It is also significant for business entity to have focus on environmental
aspects such as proper dumping area near store so that waste can be stored in ethical manner. If
such norms are not well maintained then ethical issues might be faced by company (Pestle,
Crowleyand Weirauch, 2014).
CONCLUSION
As per above study, Marks and Spencer can face diverse changes in its operations due to
pestle factors. If business firm is not considering such values properly then it will affect the
outcome in diverse manner.
