Reflective practice
I, being a professional Mathematics expert try to encourage the students, so that their
affection towards the subject would be grown up. I am always trying to increase the interest
of my students towards the subject in such a way that their understanding can be developed
deeply. I always follow the principles of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and
also the Standards for School Mathematics. In order to assess my personal teaching style, I
have set a goal and hence relied upon educator evaluation format. My goal is to develop a
critical application for using the subject in the process of information and communication. It
will bring an innovation in my career pathways. It will help me to understand how to use
technology in my teaching procedure. Apart from this, it will help me to enhance my
knowledge and skills in the subject and I can pursue further studies in the subject.
Professional roles and responsibilities
In order to achieve my career goal, I need to give additional focus and require to improve my
understanding in critical mathematical concepts and I can bring innovation in the proposed
venture. I require to have the eligibility to solve the problem of my students, which is the
reflection of the deeper understanding towards the subject. In spite of this, I have planned to
set short period milestone, so that my career goal in the long term can be successfully
achieved. For instance, in order to increase the efficiency in the venture of information
technology and communication, I require to attend global seminars in the engineering
colleges. It will be the primary stage of implementing innovation in my teaching process. In
addition, I have decided to give few online tests, so that I can successfully deal with the
innovation and my career goal. It will lead to create greater understanding in the subject.
Learners and needs
Being a teacher, it is my responsibility to improve my students’ efficiency level in subject,
more specifically those who have lack in understanding Mathematics. I used to influence
them to respond in the iPlay math games, which will be successfully improved their skills and
knowledge in the subject. On the other hand, it will be beneficial to align with my career goal
and I can fulfil it effectively. The result of the iPlay games is the gradation or the skill level
of the students. In order to increase knowledge in information technology and
communication, I have provided them some downloadable samples by using Google

Sketchup. It is effective to enhance their knowledge in 3D Vinci learning. Furthermore, I also
engage them in ModelMetricks projects, which are subjected to the application of
information technology and communication. As a result, I can meet the needs of the learners
by minimising their lack in subject and can step towards achieving my goal.
Assessment practices and processes
The assessment practices show the progress in the learning of my student. In order to
determine their progress as well as for identifying the summative grading process, I used to
conduct midterm examination and end-of-course test every after 4 months. Consequently, I
can improve the development in subject matter competencies. After that, I provide my
students feedback based on their success in learning. Apart from this, I used to rely upon
several forms of enhancing the student performance and these are classroom dialogue, formal
tests, projects, portfolios, homework assignments, seatwork etc. It will increase the student’s
assumption powers and the reasoning capabilities, which will successfully lead to boost up
their skills in Mathematics and being a teacher, it will be a greater achievement for me.
Communication
The aspect of communication in an Individual Learning Plan implies the facilitation of
interactive sessions between students and teachers with regard to the lessons based on my
personal observance. I further opine that that the classroom activities must be inclusive of the
sessions related to revision of lessons in the interest of the enhancement of learning of the
students. The students must also be provided with an opportunity to present their own views
and opinions as far as the alternative methods of solving mathematical problems are
concerned. It would help the students to present their ideas in a proper and appropriate
manner as far as their progression is concerned (Gravells, 2014). Teachers must engage in
open communication with students instead of simply delivering lectures as it would help in
the fostering of an amicable relationship between students and teachers. Effective
communication between students and teachers would play an extremely important role with
regard to the efficient learning of all students in the class. It would also help students with
difficulties in learning to grasp the lessons in class accordingly and perform well
academically.

Inclusive Learning Environment
The aspect relating to Inclusive Learning Environment implies that the opportunity for
learning should be provided to all kinds of students. It further students that students with
different backgrounds must be facilitated with all the available means for learning so that
they do not end up with struggling with their lessons. All students must be made to feel by
their respective teachers that they are a part of the class (Piercy, 2009). The individualistic
approach of each student must be taken into account by the respective teacher so as to make
sure that the student is not left behind. I further assert that a student should not be penalized
in an unnecessary manner and be assessed based on their knowledge gained or grasped. I
further infer that different approaches must be utilized and implemented for different kinds of
students so that they learn accordingly as far as their lessons are concerned. It is further
observed by me that personalized feedback for students would be helpful in their learning to a
large extent.
Planning and Delivery
I would plan the impartment of lessons in an organized manner. There would be separate
sessions of the various modules of mathematics such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry,
trigonometry, statistics and commercial aspects of mathematics. It would play the key role in
the enhancement of learning for the students thereby leading to the acquiring of the lessons in
a proper and appropriate manner. As a result, it would help me in the delivery of lessons in a
proper and appropriate manner so as to make sure that the sequence for the same is not
contravened or deviated. Separate sessions for the addressing of doubts of the students would
be planned out thereby ensuring that all students are well equipped with the lessons prior to
examination or any other form of assessment since I have to ensure that the planning of
lessons is implemented accordingly and delivered subsequently for the welfare of all the
students. Such a planning on my part is purported to ensure that students do not end up
struggling with their lessons.
Teaching Practice and Observations
I would implement such methods and approaches so as to ensure that all students in the class
are enthusiastic of learning their lessons. I would apply the techniques which would help in
the reduction of stress of the students. These kinds of techniques include the playing of music
during the lessons in class as the presenting of pictures related to the lessons and such

techniques would help in lowering the level of study pressure among the students (Tracey and
Morrow, 2017). These would play in extremely vital role in the advancement of learning for
the students. I would also provide adequate opportunity for students to participate in class
during activities related to lessons with regard to informal non-assessed quizzes. It would
help them in learning in an effective and efficient manner. I would also make observations of
each and every student with regard to their responses towards the lessons and ensure that they
are coping up with the lessons in the desired manner. Based on the observations, I would
undertake appropriate steps and measures with reference to the welfare of all the students so
that none of the students lag behind in learning.
What Next? Progression Routes
I have been teaching mathematics to students for which I will have to prepare my individual
learning plan. During my planning for progression, I would progress from just teaching in the
traditional manner but bring in innovation to make mathematics more interesting and easier
to learn. I believe that it is extremely important to be ambitious and patient in the teaching
profession as there would be children having different level of understanding and grasping
power. My current workplace provides with various academic opportunities within my
department making it easier to focus on bringing in relevant changes in the way mathematics
is being taught to students. As I move forward with my progress plans, I would like to
implement the use of technology like taking virtual classes after taking prior approval from
the school authorities. Once implemented, I would like to measure the impact of my work,
particularly in terms of outcomes for school children.
Study Skills for the level 4 Certificate
In order to be a good teacher in UK, it is important to procure good adult skills and teaching
skills. The qualifications for a mathematics teacher vary with age, the educational institution
and the areas of study. Up skilling teachers in an effective way can help in creating better
employment prospects (Petty, 2004). I would like to correlate my qualifications with my
quality of teaching and my ability to deliver the teachings effectively. In order to deliver
teaching effectively, I would have to have knowledge of at least one level subject above the
level I am expected to teach. This will ensure that I have the ability to teach children in a
better manner by clarifying them the concepts and methodologies. I will enhance my skills in
both interpreting and utilizing the data in an appropriate manner to enhance student learning.

I will continue to develop my proficiencies in understanding the appropriate use of
technology that aligns with my objective of teaching.
Professional practice and Assessment
Currently, I am aiming at acquiring the relevant knowledge and develop materials before
putting them into implementation. I have investigated that conducting workshops and
seminars can be beneficial for students to make them understand the various benefits of
virtual teaching. This can be a value addition to their learning skills and foster the ease of
learning. I try to maintain quality and compliance in my teaching styles by constantly
interacting with the students and monitoring their performances. I am trying to improve the
classroom environment by catering to my professional needs as well as student learning
needs. My responsibility lies in improving the content knowledge of different chapters and
promotes the best use of educational resources provided by the school authorities.
Further Professional Practice
As I progress with my individual learning plan, I would try to identify, instruct and intervene
for people with different needs. As a part of the development skills, I would like to suggest
strategies that would motivate students to work productively and learn from their own
mistakes. I would like to collaborate with other educators on implementing projects that
would promote advanced learning for student success. I would like to impart my knowledge
to my fellow colleagues and junior mathematics teachers if they are in need to understand any
concept or teachings. This would in a way help to improve my skills and knowledge on the
topics. I am also interested in improving my career opportunities by enhancing my teaching
skills.
Advanced Professional Practice
In order to advance my teaching career, I would like to create a safe teaching environment for
students where they feel free to come up with their questions and queries. My objectives are
to implement quality education and be compliant with the rules and regulations mentioned by
the state. I would like to implement individualized learning that is built as per individual
needs of students. I would like to extend my learning to students with special needs such as
autistic students who can be benefitted with the use of virtual learning. In order to improve
my skills in teaching autistic children in future, I would like to attend workshops.
